    A quick video of the air pumps I have running the moving bed filter and a large air stone in the pond.
    I'm really pleased with these air pumps and would definitely recommend them for driving moving beds, aerating large ponds and running air driven fish houses.

      I’m really interested to know if the pond is clearer and if you’ve tested the water parameters before and after. Maybe a video on your water quality? Have you cleaned the filters yet? What sort of muck have you taken out of them?

      You should do a quick over view of what you have done so far with pond filter. Like where it comes in/out, main filter and the shower filter. Maybe with some pictures in the video like you did in this one. Thanks keep up the work.

    There are still areas of that MBBR that isn't moving. What's the volume of the MBBR? And how much of that is filled with media?
    At what depth are the airstones placed?
    I have found that those 8" discs are quite restrictive. Use a medium pore AirStone with less restriction and the pump will work better.

    Knowing my luck it would fly off
    great video thinking of running one of the3600 in a solar set up 32 Watts is very low consumption.

    Could you advise a pump for a dump moving bed filter
    Can’t seem to get my chamber moving enough

    • @pondguru
      @pondguru  Před 4 měsíci

      I'm not familiar with a dump moving bed filter but most of the moving bed media will take an age to get moving properly.
      It's best to start with the chamber only filled to 25% then after a few weeks you should be able to fill it to 50% (so if the chamber is 100 litres you'd need 50 litres of media). With the K1 micro you can fill the chamber to 75% as opposed to only around 50% with K1 or Hel-x.
      Since plastic is a really hostile environment for bacteria to colonize the media needs to build up a 'biofilm' for the bacteria to survive on and when that builds up (when the media starts to discolor) then it will move much better.
      If your media is new it will not move very well at all.

  • @AGamesCorner

    never keep the air hose valves closed while pump is running. you will ruin it. Also, it looks like too much media in there, that is why it is not moving

  • @StanTheObserver-lo8rx
    @StanTheObserver-lo8rx Před 5 lety

    I can't tell..but maybe you could see more clarity with an algaecide? It would only last as long as the chemical..but when you see the water clear,that might answer what is the real culprit for the turbidity. If it's that?..then you might need to become an aquatic plant expert..Water lilies to block the light,pickerel weed and reeds to suck up nutrients. Whatever is feeding your ponds water inlet..might be the place for large stands of cattails...filter out muck.
    Its not easy. The sunlight just makes diatoms and algaes explode. You might plant some Willow tree's. More shade.

    New to your channel but really enjoying catching up on your videos, mostly the fishing wildlife and pond updates.
    Watched an old video regarding the nest tube for the mallard, dont know if you persisted with this, but i noticed you had one thing lacking and that was nesting material. Mallard are essentially quite lazy and dont build a nest in a tube you need to stuff it full of hay or straw to create the nest. Our local Wildfowling Club has had great success with our nest tube programme: czcams.com/video/7RkIo2zx-sw/video.html
    Not anticipating a reply as i saw the video explaining why this was no longer practical, you may also find this irrelevant or have ended the nesting project or solved it. Comment is not really relevant to this video but not sure where i should have commented.
    Enjoy the videos and look forward to more fishing wildlife videos, but i have plenty of old videos to catch up on.
    Cheers Pete
