It seems kind of dangerous to use hot glue on a machine that has sharp spinning blades and which you will be using on a hot summer day. Even though you're only using box cutter blades, they could do damage if they broke off and were moving at your shinbone at high speed. Be careful when using that thing. On the other hand, it is cute; it demonstrates you knowledge of how a lawn mower works, and it is a nice project using things you have around the house and won't cost much. Also a wonderful concept, a mini mower for a mini lawn. Congratulations!
