  • How to do a quick and (almost) clean OIL CHANGE on your vehicle at home.
I attempt another 10 Minute oil change challenge. This time however, instead of jacking the van up and draining the oil from the sump, I use a tool to suck the oil up and out of the dipstick tube.
Here's the tool I used (Sealey TP69 6.5ltr Manual Vacuum Oil and Fluid Extractor) - amzn.to/2H7gqq4

Fantastic video, I've been looking for something exactly like this. I live on a terrace so getting under the car is a big hassle.

Depends on the vehicle; extracting 3.5 litres of the 4 litre capacity is pretty good and, if the oil filter is easily accessed, it makes a home change viable (I always have it done elsewhere because it's icky and I hate getting under a car). Mercedes now use this method instead of draining and - thought occurs to me - how about all those "sealed for life" gearboxes? Useful for anyone who's nervous about their 200k car still thrashing cogs through the original gloop.
Seeing as my hand-pump jet lance (ok for light cleaning) works on the same principle and was ~£15, I had a look around. Search "vacuum oil extractor" on ebay and plenty are around £25 new.

This certainly will mean more regular oil changes, a lot less of a chore this way.
I just went for the sealey because of the brand, it’s hit or miss with the unbranded stuff, sometimes it’s exactly the same, other times it’s junk and I end up getting a better one anyway. I know this will get a lot of use.

How are you actually supposed to get the filter out of the case? Last video you kinda broke/forced it out. Did you find out how its actually supposed to be done this time?

Yep, you force it. It’s clipped in.

Yes, I should do that anyway for the vans health. I’ll bump it up the list.

@@jasonpearson4252 you can always change your oil the old fashioned way, using the drain plug on the oil pan.

i would never use this as it can't get all the oil out also whenever an oil change is done its a good habit to have a lool underneath the car to find any leaks and wear teat on parts

Fair points mate. I’d argue that although it doesn’t get every drop off oil out, it does enable much more regular changing, so probably more beneficial for the engine in the long run.
