Combat jack is no joke.Most gears 5 players have stories about jacks controlling a mulcher scion/royalguard/cyclops and sweeping entire waves themselves. What is also interesting is that allies you use healbeam on get a defence boost of IIRC 40ish% So you can pretend to be a bastion and follow around a melee class as they go ham on enemies.(since you can hold down the heal beam button/key and it will stay on them.)

I absolutely love Jack! Out of all the support classes he is definitely my favorite! Easily an S tier class if you know how to play him! He has some great flexible playstyle options. Most people choose the mind control spec which is really strong if you use the right cards. Explosive hijack (a must have card for any Jack build and it immediately kills the enemy you lost control of), backstab (extending high jack is sweet), rampage (who doesn't want bleed damage!), and mind control expert (for super tanky minions) is how you maximize your mind controlled enemies. I typically play "support" Jack. For my build I go with healing upgrade (easily keeps my allies at full health), healing reach (I love this it allows me to keep a safe distance for a heal or a revive), portable resupply (I usually fetch weapons for my team so the added ammo regen is something they appreciate), explosive hijack (so I can suicide bomb minions when I am done tanking with them), and finally the zapper upgrade (more damage is always a good thing and this is Jack's only attack). With this setup I constantly monitor my squad's health and heal them if they need it. I am always on revive duty when someone drops. I constantly pick up ammo caches for my team and weapons I know they could use! When fighting bosses or other tough enemies I carefully zap them so that my allies can get that 50% damage boost. As for the perks I always go health regen first (so I can recover faster if I take some nasty hits), Ultimate cool down, health boost, and repair discount last. The fact that Jack is always cloaked unless attacking, healing, getting too close to an enemy, and other situations is super helpful! You can sneak around and pick up Cog tags so you can safely bring back fallen allies. He is the only character that can pick up ammo caches and transport them. His zapper is a free 50% damage boost to all allies that target the zapped enemy. If you play him correctly you can definitely carry a team!
Excellent video as always. Jack is one of my favourites in horde and I've mastered him perfectly. He can literally clutch the whole round as I have done many times with him. I use the repair structures also to help the Engineer but I'm massive reviver

I have been watching tons of videos on how to become a good player in gears (I desperately want to become a good player) & understanding it better especially gears 5 - I find it a lot to "take in" as a total newbie to Gears of War. Does healing upgrade make the heal beam revive faster? I also haven't found the healing to be that noticeable when I use it, seems just as fast without it.
I didn't notice any difference with revive speed when using it. Yeah, I prefer the extra distance on healing rather than speed, since the healing is decent at base
When Jack picks up any weapons, he will uncloak. Portable Resupply let's you stay cloaked, and will regenerate ammo for the weapon you are carrying around as Jack. The ammo regeneration isn't that important, it can be useful early on if your engineer doesn't have any weapon lockers built, but i recommend it mostly for the cloaking it provides. Hope this helps.
Most of the time, enemies tend to die in the same general area, it's easier to move the forge to a group of weapons, than pick each weapon up and drag it back to the forge. Don't have to do it this way, it's just something I started to do

You can take over a bastion as well and project the shield over teammates. Personally my favorite thing to hijack.

I'm just starting on gears 5 and am loving it. There is a lot to learn and figure out though and I can't wait to do it. Have fun and kick ass!
I just got back into gears 5 and I only play jack. I play a mixture of both support and damage tbh

When Jack picks up any weapons, he will uncloak. Portable Resupply let's you stay cloaked, and will regenerate ammo for the weapon you are carrying around as Jack.
