The decision to lie musically for Desert Bluffs version of this song is probably one of the best creative decisions ever. It helps dig in the fact that Kevin is really not reporting what's actually happening
A lot of people are saying that this Waltz is the Desert Bluffs version and the other Waltz is the Night Vale version, but everybody seems to forget that Cecil and Kevin trade radio stations before the weather airs. Therefore, this version of the Waltz was put on by Cecil, which would have aired in Night Vale if not for all the portal shenanigans. So technically, THIS is the Night Vale version of the Waltz, in 4/4 time, because Night Vale is a place where nothing works like its supposed to.
The fact that the Waltz Kevin puts on is in traditional 3/4 time caters to the idea that Desert Bluffs is a place where rules are meant to be followed WITHOUT QUESTION, which falls in line with the Strexcorp owned Desert Bluffs later involvement in the story.
There's also the matter of each station's intros. Night Vale's intro falls more tonally in line with this weather, synthetic sounding, calm, dark. Desert Bluffs intro sounds more organic, with stringed instruments and vocals, bright and sunny sounding, which is similar with the OTHER Waltz.
So yeah. This is the Night Vale version. The other Waltz would be the Desert Bluffs version.
But Kevin and Cecil both said that they found their respective Weathers on each other's desks. You make sense, and that's a really great explanation as to why it might have happened, but I could have sworn...
CommentGirl12 Yeah Cecil said this "Because I am a radio professional and it is sitting right here in this blood spattered desk, I give you the weather" so this "waltz" (4/4) is actually Desert Bluffs weather. And the true waltz (3/4) is from Night Vale.
+Angel Garza THIS IS TRUE BY THE LAW OF AMAZING... I AGREE WITH ALL OF THIS THAT YOU SAY
Sonia Haft I like that this is the truth cause it’s kinda ironic that desert bluffs is the one to *not* follow the traditional rules
(Sorry to respond 5 years later but. . .) It would also make sense for this to be nightvales's version since it's preformed by Disparition (the show's main band)
I just imagine Cecil and Carlos dancing under the lights above the Arbys with this song playing from the radio.
I just died of cute
Then Cecil stops, steps back, walks over to the car, and promptly changes the station because for some reason he gets an overwhelming feeling of dread and hatred. And feel the need to curse Desert Bluffs.
But it would be insanely cute indeed.
Lea C
That is so sweet!
Definitely my favourite "Weather" track from "Welcome to Night Vale". Slightly sinister and completely haunting.
Sounds like a description of what it would be like in night vale.
This song is so... dark in an inexplicable kind of way. Like a void.
I'm still thinking about these two songs. This version's by the usual soundtrack guy, but it's played in Desert Bluffs, but it's played by Cecil, but he plays it with disgust, just because it's there and he's a professional.
I can't quite decide which track is for which town, or character, or whatever else kind of relationship they represent, but the idea with lies in one track and 4/4 time in the other is just brilliant.
I like to imagine that the ever-present chimes that start the song off symbolize the omnipresence of the Smiling God. You can try to put a cheerful melody over the top of them, but the chimes are always there, just under the surface. Always... (OUO)
It makes sense that this is Dessert Bluffs' weather. Standard music for Nightvale is done by Disparition while the weather is always an indie group. Standard music for Desert Bluffs is more upbeat and "indie" sounding which is opposite to Nightvale. Seems like their weather should follow this same opposite trend.
I think this is one of the more disturbing pieces of weather, myself. It just sounds.. Foreboding. But beautiful, all the same.
This kind of makes you think about the real horrors of Desert Bluffs.
The song is haunting, but there is almost a hand of false happiness reaching up from the chimes, grasping, and although the mask of happiness is still present, it's desperate.
Kevin, however cheery as he may seem, is twisted. We all know this. That mask of fake joy hides a monster. Desert Bluffs is the same way... who knows what's going on there? Is it really a happy place, grinned upon by a smiling god? Or is that yet another mask, and within that town are unspeakable horrors that would make the average sane human being lose everything?
Is it's god still smiling, even through bloody teeth?
Also take the previous 'Waltz'. "lie lie lie" Were the only lyrics. I don't know if this was a coincidental occurrence or not, but it came just after Kevin stepped through the loophole right? Interpret that as you will. Call it off as a mere coincidence, or become obsessed with it and start writing theories upon trashy and stupid theories like I did.
**THROWS THIS IN THE TRASHCAN**
Lauren Berry "lie lie lie" is equivalent to "la la la"
Ethan Wild or is it
The differences between the original waltz and disparition's waltz... Features in Sandstorm A and B... this is powerful stuff lol. Very significant that this, darker, version was chosen for Desert Bluffs and the lighter fo Nightvale
Does anyone else find it interesting that the music appears to be lies in the Night Vale waltz (the words sound like lie) but it's a true waltz and Desert Bluffs has the cheery tune that sounds trustworthy (if music can sound trustworthy) but it's a fake waltz?
I'm not sure which weather is mu favorite: Eliezer's Waltz or The Bus is Late
Depends on the weather, I guess. :)
Angelina Diblasio this or closer
Did you just-
Same! I can't decide too.
@@possumqueen123 if it's rainy, The Bus Is Late. If it's sunny, this. But normally sunny should be the cheerful one? Weird
Hard to believe this song is 7+ years old. It hit me a few times this week and I couldn’t place it until today and couldn’t remember the name. Thankfully I had it saved. Makes me want to pick up the show again
Probably my all time favorite Weather. I could listen to this song all day...
I think this is actually my favourite musical piece from that wonderful podcast.
This is so beautiful and slightly creepy, I can't stop listening.
This is the only song that I think could theoretically replace WTNV's current opening song :3 its just got that vibe to it!~
Disparition is so underrated. Great trip-hop track (even if it technically isn't a waltz).
I gotta say, I hate Desert Bluffs more than anything, but they does gots sum great music ;D
Aidan Gould it's not even a waltz. Desert bluffs can't do anything right
At half pace, this is a perfect waltz, actually. I've choreo'd a tutoring routine to this, to help people get into classical dance without stodgy classical music.
This is my ABSOLUTE favorite episode.
What nice weather we're having
Does anyone else think this sounds kind-of like fur Elise at some parts? I think so, and it makes it creepier and more serene for me.
I sometimes listen to this at night and it puts me right to sleep. Thanks NightVale for introducing me to Disparition.
It's beautifully calming.
Favorite Welcome to Night Vale weather!
They may have good music, but this doesn't excuse the fact that their baseball team is terrible... Just terrible...
Sarah Gugliotta Desert Bluffs hate kinda embodies the fandom mob mentality, eh?
I dont want a name Hey. Less thinky, more hatey.
I dont want a name Well, to be fair, the hatred of Desert Bluffs is given a fair bit of support by the hinting of them actually being horrible psychopaths who enjoy decorations of viscera and pictures of teeth. Plus, I mean, even if you don't care about all that, their baseball team really is dreadful. That's just inexcusable.
Those Desert Bluffs, why do they even play.....
The first I heard this I actually didn't let the rest of the episode play. I had to rewind it to the start of the weather it's that good.
... Is it my theme song?
this was published on my birthday :o
The melody reminds of some soundtrack of a Soviet Era movie.
oh my Chuck! I've just listened 800% slowed down version and it was amazing! Now i've listened at ×2 fast and it's still beautiful and scary as hell
Holy crap I never realized that the weather for this episode was a different version of the song from Sandstorm A until now.
!
The Desert Bluffs version (or, at least, the one Kevin plays while in Night Vale - technically it could be argued that this is the Desert Bluffs version since Cecil finds it on Kevin's desk) from Part A is most certainly in 3/4, though... hmm...
I think this really conveys how hollow Desert Bluffs really is with it sounding like hold music rather than an actual song. Creative choice there.
This reminds me a lot of Silent HIll.
lie lie lie lie lie lie lie lie lie lie
Love you, Ciaomunch.
this is calming
Nice forecast.
wish this was on spotify :(((
Thank you for uploading.
So I can’t find this song at all on Apple Music even though I can find (I think) all other songs by Disparition. Even if I just search this song title. Kinda weird but it just adds to the mystery of WTNV. I wish I could download it though, this is probably one of my favorite songs.
CZcams to mp3 on google
Really Cool!
Desert Bluffs has great weather too
this has similar vibes to the Risk of Rain ost & i love it
Favourite
Can someone tell me where I can purchase this particular song? I can't find it on their website.
This is one of my favorite Weathers, but I have one complaint to lodge: it's not in 3/4 time.
It's on purpose. The Waltz is a lie. The identically named weathers deal with obvious and hidden lies. Neat, ain't it?
!!!!!!!!!! SO NEAT
I feel terrible saying this, but Desert Bluffs version of Eliezer's Waltz is better then Night Vale's.
BUT on the bright side, this isn't even a real WALTZ.
Desert Bluffs can't do ANYTHING right.
Yeah, I hate to imagine Desert Bluffs trying to do klezmer.
Actually, this is a waltz. If you listen carefully you can here the "oom pa pa" beat in the background.
lol oh wait that's polka isn't it.
and their baseball team is just terrible, to top it all off.
LISTEN IN SYNC WITH ITS TWIN!
I like this one more than the original
I wonder which Eliezer this refers to. I have an emotional connection to Ellie Wiesel, the author of Night, so I think of him.
Watch at 1.25 it's a better tripper experience
Outtake fiend it makes me picture people dancing too fast, their eyes frantic. They know what will happen if they don't keep up.
Outtake fiend and at .75 I picture people stuck in an empty, dark room, moving slowly
...because of course in Night Vale, a waltz is in 4/4 time...
The same people who did the theme to wtnv
Hello I’m an Eliezer
the song sounds similar to the nightvale intro song
I see that you are an actor and a LARPer . When you have been to Magischola can you tell me if it is closer to acting or LARPing? I am asking due to the fact that they assign characters....Please and Thx Jennie
Hi
Eliezer? Who are they?
It's done by the same artist, so I can see why.
CARLSBERG.
excuse you.

Not a waltz, but whatever, still good.
This is wonderful and all but it's not in 3/4....XD curse you Eliezer, you can't even have a proper waltz
+Sharon Pickett Those people over at Desert Bluffs just can't do *anything* right now can they.
Sharon Pickett :(
Will I be the last comment ?
wtf, I loved reading the book years ago, and only today I found by luck that there are some music ??
What do you mean
Oh my glow cloud don't tell me you've read the novel before listening to the podcast
@@sknfmsmr I didn't knew there was a podcast before I read it on the cover. I never had the curiosity to liste' to the podcast. It was really a pleasure to read it, ranking in the top 5 of my all time favorite books. (I'm french, so it was translated)
