Probably one of the hardest mission on Zerg of all time!
Hell, I'd say it was the hardest mission in all of SC1
The hardest mission in my gaming experience
The fucking continuous multiple big attacks while attacking heavy defended bases with 200/200 supply
@@Headless_Bill This is actually the second hardest in SC1 for me. 4 groups of Hydralisks to destroy the basis on your island, and then Guardian/Devourer push towards the other island has always been the most consistent strategy on this level. The hardest one of all for me is actually... Countdown. Every attack the Zerg does is brutal because they have every single tech and upgrade, and they don't hold back on mass scourge or spawning broodlings. I end up just surrounding the Xel'Naga Temple with just guardians and devourers and sunken/spores all over with my mind controlled Zerg. I don't even bother trying to defend that with the Protoss anymore lol
@@hnkul702 ill have to try out your strategy with the hydras! Thanks for sharing
The interesting part here is he uses a force of Guardians but also with Mutalisks as a mixed ground and air attack, until he finishes the Zerg and Terran white base, and only then transforms the muta's into Devourers and Mutalisks. I'd been trying to build up a force of Guardians and Devourers first before the assault but it takes too long, this way he's got both ground and air attcks earlier and without having to spend so many resources. He's got enough of them to hit hard, so they mostly survive until he's ready to transform them. Good strategy and it obviously works.
The difference I used was to attack the first base to the east and then the terrans to the north not just with Guardians but with a mixed force including a squad of Hydras and zerglings, first use the Guardians to hit the sunken colonies then the ground forces can run amok. Mixed forces tend to work better, a fully air-based attack is vulnerable to the valkyries but having some hydras on the ground protects the the air units, I found it works well to have mixed units, one type that can protect the other.
I attacked the first base with just 10 hydras but also 10 guardians and 8 o 9 devourers. I did it as quickly as possible and thankfully it worked. After claiming the base next to you, the rest is just defending a little and keep conquering 😁😁😁
HOW MANY TIMES DO WE GOTTA KILL THE OVERMIND????
Anyone else disturbed by the fact they're using infested terrans alongside normal marines?
I think the UED is shown to be really evil.
That's war 👀
Took me too long to get a combo of guardians and devourers and even when I did get them both, I kept losing, so I just dived with 72 guardians back in the day. worked like a charm.
I really miss the original Overmind over these stupid Overmind replicas. xD
UED ordered Overmind from Wish 😄
Should have used those dark archons to repossess Razsagal
Wololo!
Zeratul is stupid until SC2
This stage was a bigger pain than "Omega" to me. Had I known how aggressive the AI was compared to other levels, I'd have acted accordingly. I won, but I had to give up a captured base at one point.
sadge
Gotta try this later. Just beat it the first time but it took 1hr 42 min because I was doing it with ultra hydra
Kriff this mission, alongside Omega.
Amusing that, though Blizzard was forced to cut "Biting the Bullet" and "Operation Silent Scream" in Episode I so to equal the number of missions per Episode (10 each), they have no hesitation putting two more Zerg missions AND a Protoss-centered Bonus Mission for Episode VI (despite the previous two Episodes being 8 missions long).
i got my ass just burned with that mission, it's so hard. The enemy is attacking from everywhere, and when i got a second base to ~ 15 minute, the enemy started spamming with mass Air...That just got me f*cked up...cruisers, valkyreies, and the cherry on pie...nuclear strikes
My base got annihilated like 3 times, so I exited the game, and now I’m here trying to figure out how to beat it lol
You need to have a pretty good army by the 10 minute mark and attack the base next to yours as soon as possible. You'll probably have to start a hatchery in the middle of the fight. After you've claimed that base, take the northern one. After that, your resources should be good enough to be able to conquer more and more. Rinse and repeat 😁👍🏼👍🏼
@@kingdoge69 Check out my amazing insight 😎 lol
Kerrigan, still a bitch through this entire game. Love her!
Pathetic idiot.
+Alex _ eh?
fucking done it but it was so annoying ... basically you have to make guardians and devoures but not waste too much in upgrades, than slowly resist to attacks, save and load a lot, study where they attack you, go and first take the base to the right, than spread to left side of map, take the center, then take out the white upper base and so on ... finally take the one to far right but be aware of lurkers and finally assault the overmind :D watchout for nukes :))
You know what, I have a theory. I think this was meant to be the last Zerg mission, but somehow Blizzard decided to add another two hence the difficulty level of this mission.
Believe it or not, the final mission is actually easier than this one. In the last one, once the protoss are gone, you can even build up an army at their base and have no problem defending it. But in this one, standing still is just a luxury you can't afford. You need to be able to conquer the base next to you by the 12 minute mark or so. If you fail at that, you might as well start from where you've saved, because the AI will retaliate with everything they have. However, if you succeed you can quickly start a base there and gather resources, conquer the northern base, set a base there as well, and so on, and so on. Conquering is key.
@@DanielMartinez-nw1pn Hence the reason I said it was MEANT to be the last mission as we already knew both Terran and Protoss only have eight each. Also, I have played Starcraft 1 numerous times and still do, yes I realized that. Sorry, not to sound rude. By the way the details you explained about the quickness, that is something obscure to me and I thank you for that. My point being, the last mission Omega wasn't hard since Blizzard felt they don't need to do another hard mission like the eighth one because to them, only one is enough. That's what I meant by my theory.
@@DanielMartinez-nw1pn Let me break it down in a simpler way. The Zerg campaign was meant to only have 8 missions. Somehow, Blizzard added another two possibly on a whim just to extend the storyline or for whatever underlying reasons. I hope you understand by now.
@@maxavery8269 Oh, I see. Didn't know that hehe.
@@DanielMartinez-nw1pn bear in mind that's my theory, not a fact
Impressive
Zeratul blades do 1000 damage! I would stay away from him at all times haha
Jay Price 100
100 normally, but 1000 on this specific map.
When zeratul kills the overmind the game freezes and kerrigan doesn't appear. WTF ?
Well I guess it's just the game, but I never heard of anyone having this problem. Maybe you can just cheat past this mission
this is to hard! i can't win! its very hard!
Played like a damn fiddle
43:30 makes no sense cause in starcraft two its stated that zerg and protoss dna can't mix so how does kerigan take over the princess?¿
Mind control
Any other strategy here besides the Guardian + Mutalisk cheese?
Kowalth well with the amount of anti air the enemy has it's usually not recommended to go air, because if you lose your force once you're probably done due to the cost vs ground units. Supposedly it's possible to cheese by dropping ultras/dts/defiler and just killing it. Fly around bottom and up the side to drop the final area, dark swarm for cover, suicide on overmind
Honestly the campaigns for the Zerg have always confused me.
Aren't the zerg supposed to attack in endless, merciless, massive waves? Why are the zerg in this mission, especially with Kerrigan being so powerful at this point, so greatly limited? You can train maybe a couple hundred at the most before running out of resources.
Not realistic to the lore at all. Tarsonis was destroyed with billions of zerg.
Well, it's called brood war for a reason. If you follow the story, you know that Kerrigan is having trouble controlling some of her broods. Also, to beat this mission you need to be fast and gather a decent army by the 10 minute mark. Immediately attack the base next to you and set a base of your own. After a couple of minutes you can attack the northern base and set another base. This is the strategy you have to follow. Attack, conquer, gather resources, replenish your forces, rinse and repeat. Air units like guardians and supporting devourers are the name of the game after conquering the first base.
@@DanielMartinez-nw1pn I figured that out a while ago. I can do this mission easy now. My comment was written at a time where I wasnt able to
Spawn a Nydus Canal on the island ffs
cannot transport the dark templars through nydus canals
