The first time I listened to this version was in the car a couple days ago on my way to my mother's house. She lives in rural Georgia with my stepdad; the trees were mostly bare, others were relishing in their seasonal beauty. Like revisiting an old photo album, I was placed directly back in my childhood - I remember the placement of some trees and roads, sitting in the back seat with my parents listening to Christmas music before Thanksgiving, driving to my grandparents house. Thinking about how blessed I am to have these memories of my loving father (and how I didn't recognize this nearly as I should of in my youth) and how despite everything, my mother still loves me unconditionally. Thank you for this wonderful version. I can't help tear up every time I hear it.
I really and truly think carrie & lowell, and this song in particular, will go down as a classic and a revered masterpiece of folk music to be enjoyed, covered, and emulated for many years to come. at the very least it certainly has cemented its place in my heart.

Thank you for all these!
Speaks to Heart and Soul this one.
There's no better remix to any song. I have never listened to any song more beautiful with a title that has death in it.🌼
