    • @matteobarsanti5055
      @matteobarsanti5055 Před 7 měsíci

      As an Italian, most old italian cars sadly are good until you actually own or try to drive one, compared to other European brands materials are low quality and the interiors start to deteriorate prematurely, alfa in particular was constantly trying to do better in a worse way for example by putting the rear brakes on the differential like on the 75 (causing them to not work when it was wet cause water would constantly splash on them), by positioning the engine forward to the front axle (like the 33, this kinda improves the grip but when it rains the car becomes terrible and I'm talking about cruising in the city and not racing on a track), also Italian cars transmissions and shifter were generally terrible with extremely long travels or premature wear on some cars (like the 33...)
      Also there have been years when the cars were poorly made due to constant strikes in the assembly lines, my grandfather ritmo for example was missing a piston ring, lancia delta 836 steering boxes would unbolt themselves.
      Overall I agree with what u said, Italian cars are indeed unique but trust me you'd prefer a car that doesn't understeer in a big roundabout at 40km/h just because it has been terribly made.

  • @C6Z_Bob
    @C6Z_Bob Před 7 měsíci +79

    Unfortunately, if you're going to flog a C6Z on a racetrack, you really need cooling mods before adding any horsepower. Also the clutch master cylinders in these things aren't very good from the factory, if you have headers, your clutch pedal will get mushy and it won't shift very nicely. I put a Tilton clutch cylinder in mine and I can shift in about 0.25 seconds up at 7500 rpm. Hopefully someday someone brings you one that's well sorted for the racetrack. I think this car is set up adequately for the average enthusiast, but when someone like Misha hops in and really pushes it to the limit, that's when the issues show up.

    • @ivanvujosevic289
      @ivanvujosevic289 Před 7 měsíci +1

      100%. Doing that on my z06 currently. Lot of potential, everyone spends money on a heads, cam, header package when it should be going into coilovers, seats, and cooling

    • @sleserginekolog1
      @sleserginekolog1 Před 7 měsíci +9

      If the car is stock power (or just like headers), then cooling is not a problem. I used to track c6z06 at the ring, i only had headers and never had cooling issues.
      Clutch issue is another problem, u have to flush the clutch fluid frequently, it gets dirty quick and causes sticky clutch.
      The big item c6z06 needs at the ring is coilovers and gt3 aero. There used to a guy there (Dennis), who tracked one with gt3 aero, coilovers, semi slicks, stock power levels and he did 7:05 btg.

    Ah yes, this is one thing I don't miss about my C6 Z06, that transmission tunnel. What little insulation there is behind the carpet falls down and then you're just a few inches away from the metal of the transmission tunnel, which is fantastic at blasting heat into the cabin. I put extra insulation behind the carpet and I put all the insulation on the underside of the car in the trans tunnel that I could possibly add. I was acceptable at that point.

    Heat, living if Florida, is one of reasons I prefer the C6 Grand Sport with the 6.2l over the 7.0l. The GS has all of the mods the Zo6 has minus the 7.0l. Less weight on the front is a bonus! Mine had 540/580 with just a few mild mods and, I ran 30 minute sessions at Sebring without over heating with 90+ degree weather. But, I must say, that thing is a beast! BTW, C6 plastic suxs! I had the seat back break under acceleration on mine! Chevy replaced it but, it was not a good thing!

    Z06 cooling issues are unfortunately nothing new. I'd imagine it's probably less of an issue without mods, as I haven't seen too many complaints about it. The C7 Z06 on the other hand is infamous for it, so much so that they heavily overcompensated with the C8 Z06. I think you'll be pleased to know the C8 Z06 was designed to be able to run at the track all day long with the AC on and no heatsoak, which has been corroborated by track tests of the car. Significant quality control improvement should also prevent any more loose plastic pieces, lol. Love to see corvette content even when it doesn't always work out.

    Having owned a C5 ZO6 and driven a few C6 ZO6s on track… my consensus is they can be phenomenal on track, however…they will not take it out of the box so to say. Heat issues will always be there, even with stock power. Doesn’t take a whole lot to get that under control though, especially with the C6. They also benefit hugely from, at a minimum, different shocks/dampers. And although it does have independent rear suspension, it uses a transverse leaf spring front and rear that kind of “connects” one side of the car to the other, so if you hit a bump or curb with one side, it will transfer some of that energy. Not ideal, but even the C5/6R race cars used the leaf springs with great success.
    All in all, fantastically fun cars but if you want it for serious track duty, budget for some durability mods before anything else. That, plus some relatively minor suspension tweaks and it’ll be one of the fastest and best sounding cars out there.
    Love the content!

Of course it's because it's American power(extremely big blocks or engines whatever) and I can say that because when I first saw it, I got amazed(of course because it's a very cool car) and because I hadn't seen it before then, I just couldn't think what car it was and If you don't believe it or not, If you see it for the first time,to your eyes,will seem such a giant car, but it's engine size, trolls you.
