Yes the Stop Making Sense live version ( Naive Melody ) would of showcased what the Talking Heads where like Live . I don't get the First Time Reaction Channels who watch the lyrics videos . they're missing the creativity - the essence of the 80's-90's .
You wouldn't watch lyric videos of today's artist you'd watch their official videos .
Sometimes the lyric vids are like watching them listening to a song on the radio.......ZZzzzzzzzzzz

Greatest musical performance ever filmed. Absolutely brilliant!! I bought it on VHS when it first made its appearence, that's how long its been, and still nothing has ever even come close to its brilliance, a combination of suburb musicality, stage performance and presence. Over the past 30 years I've turned countless people on to the Stop Making Sense movie and have watched it time and time again myself, although now even though I still have that VHS I stream it from CZcams!

The Talking Heads were big in the New Wave movement of the late 70s and early 80s. But so was Elvis Costello. And so were The Pretenders. Guys, you need to hear these two artists. For Elvis Costello, I recommend Alison, Radio Radio, What's So Funny About Peace Love and Understanding, and Everyday I Write The Book. For The Pretenders, Back on the Chain Gang, Brass In Pocket, Kid, and Thin Line Between Love and Hate.

David Byrne belongs to a long tradition of songwriters who can't actually sing very well, but they do anyway, because it's their song and they need to express the lyrics in their own way. Although his singing has improved a lot over his career, Byrne in particular makes his unconventional voice part of the style of his songs. You have to listen to _Once In a Lifetime_ for a particularly striking example of that. For another more happy, upbeat Talking Heads song check out _And She Was._

I'd completely forgotten about this Talking Heads song. It's not one of the most dynamic ones, and it wasn't a big hit. What you guys want is "Life During Wartime" or "Once in a Lifetime."

OK guys, before you go back and listen to the Bee Gees again (or the Beatles, or 38 Special, or Tom Petty, or anyone else), why not try Chaka Khan singing "Them There Eyes" or "Take The A Train" from the "Echoes of an Era" album with Chick Corea and crew. You will be amazed at another whole genre (i.e. jazz) that Chaka can absolutely master. And you will get piano, saxophone, trumpet, and bass solos. C'mon, you can't beat that!!! FUN!!!!!!!!! I sent you all the CD - you unboxed it in December. And Amber, you said you wanted to know about the CD - Chaka came in after the guys had been practicing for two weeks, laid down the tracks with them in two days, and they won a Grammy! It is a great album with great singing and instrumental work.

“That piano” is a Sequential Prophet 5 Rev 2 synthesizer, which is a legendary instrument due to use by Talking Heads, Parliament/Funkadelic and others in the late 70s and early 80s. People make software simulations of it, and a Rev 4 is currently available due to renewed enthusiasm for the sound. Great reaction as always! One of my favorite songs.

One of my favorite bands of all time. This is from later in their career but it's been used in a lot of movies because it is just so sweet and heartfelt. And it really is fantastic live. Sometime you should watch the live concert movie, stop making sense. Then you will understand a lot more how amazing they were. It's a fascinating performance and I remember seeing it in the theater few times and people were dancing in the aisles but it has some really poignant reflective moments as well but it's always entertaining and thought-provoking.

My favorite song by Talking Heads. I’ve seen them a handful of times from their very early performances through the Stop Making Sense filmed show. I was very sad when Byrne decided to move on. His bandmates were not happy. I support Byrne’s solo success but there’s always an underlying “something is missing.” Yeah: Tina, hubby Chris, and Jerry.
