MAKING A CUSTOM MIRROR ACRYLIC TURNTABLE

- This week I am working on a collaboration project with Adam over at @prettydone on Instagram for making a custom mirror acrylic turntable. He is a local artist who drew the designs for this custom turntable art. This custom artwork is a cool and unique way to think about mirrors in the house and home decor in general.
Which is better, the sneakers or this turntable?

Yay! Trevor! I always enjoy your videos, thank you for posting.
Thank you for watching!
Really enjoy seeing custom work like this. The end result looked great even with the masking still covering the true mirror finish.
I love uncovering it but I didn’t want it to scratch before he picks it up.
Nice job! That 3M adhesive is such a headache saver when gluing, especially with acrylic. Regular glues would end up making the piece look like a crime scene!
I completely agree.
A cool project! Mirror acrylic is a cool material for all kinds of things! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Good Job, first time in a long time that you didn’t make a template first, free styling it .🙌
I actually scored the template onto the backer.
Our Mira 7 laser arrives tomorrow and have enjoyed watching your videos! I can’t wait to start making!
Enjoy it! It’ll be a lot of fun.
Good job, I enjoy watching your videos
Thank you!
Haven't seen much of you lately Trevor - was good to watch. Loved the design and when that backing is off, it will look truly awesome
thanks for a really great video ----- again...Terry
Thanks for watching. Yeah, I’ve been busy with regular life lately.
WOOHOO We are based in VEGAS too! Great looking piece.
Thank you!
Where would you suggest picking up the iridescent acrylic? Suppliers, I mean. Thanks for posting. Was fun watching.
Check out Canal Plastics.
Can you do a video attempting to heat bend mirror acrylic please?
If I ever get a better heat bending method I can attempt.
Ideal settings for 45watt?
I’m honestly not sure. I’d see if your machine has recommended settings. If not, you can start at the same settings I use for 60 watt and adjust them to work for your machine.
Curious about the hangers you glued to the back? Any link? Thank you
Just added one in the description for you.
@@MakerExperiment Thanks so much!
@@inigomontoya123 you’re welcome
@8:40 I think it is superglue with needle? Where did you get it? Thanks
It’s weld on 3 which is an acrylic solvent. Here’s a link to it on Amazon. amzn.to/3ZodCYL
@@MakerExperiment Thanks so much.
@@mailtojarriya you’re welcome.
What do mean black backer ? Is that a pad or piece of black paper? I’m sorry I just bought lazer machine I’m still learning. Thanks
It’s a piece of black acrylic that’s 1/8” thick. If you’re new to lasers you may want to consider joining my community.
@@MakerExperiment hi, i need to learn how to use my new machine . Thanks so much for showing all your tutorial I’m sure I will learn a lot.
@@Emelia2023 I recently launched a membership focused on helping people learn how to design and use lasers. Take a look. I think you’d be a good fit. lasersmadesimple.com
nice, blue circle doesn't look centered in the opening though
It was tough to align and it’s slightly out of alignment. It’s also not fixable with mirror acrylic because if I tried to peel it up and replace it, it peels the mirror coating off and damages the material.
@@MakerExperiment youch! Yeah I get it for sure! Something like that I’d probably use a sacrificial piece of material to use as a template to help get perfect alignment. I’ve been thinking about using coroplast as that sacrificial template since it’s cheap and laser safe…..
@@rwhipple73 I usually use cardboard. This one I etched the placement template onto the backer. I just misaligned the piece and once that tape sticks with mirror acrylic, it’s game over.
Can engrave a handlebar for harley davidson
It may be difficult. It depends on how you want to engrave it.
@@MakerExperiment thank you
What is the music?
I’d have to look because I don’t remember. It was from epidemic sound.
