The sound of the live vocals was even fainter than in the video recording, so please don't blame my recording equipment for the sound.

I was there. Memorable night! All bands firing. However I think the sound during Priest was not so good as Saxon and Uriah Heep. But a great metal evening for the books!! The crowd was awesome, specially in the front!!
Saw the concert from the back. There the sound was even better than of the other bands. Better definition of the guitars and the vocals were excellent.
The speakers are almost behind the first row, no wonder that the sound was not so good close to the stage
yes it's your recording equipment. I would think they'd catch any problems during sound check.
This is not the fault of the recording equipment. When listening live, it was even worse. I'm sure the people in the front rows in the middle felt the same way. From what I heard from other recordings, it was much better on the sides and in much further rows.
