Once you exceed a certain amount, it's taxable, despite the money used to make that interest already having been taxed. Income is taxed for all sorts of reasons, and it's a good thing. At the end of the day you still won a jackpot, so that's still awesome.

Great job. I like to keep some hundreds ready for hot machines. When I hit big, I print it out and replace with the cash slowly but resist putting the ticket back in.....this seems to help. I never leave a hot machine, but having to stop and go cash in the ticket gives you critical thinking time. Best of luck in the future.

I keep a small notebook to jot down my LOSSES. My losses are then recorded next to my winnings on my tax return.
