Here is an old video demonstrating how HX3 (formerly called HOAX) uses multiple key contacts: czcams.com/video/11Si_dzCuQs/video.html. Watch at 0:20.
In the interview Carsten said he abandoned the optical key action experiment due to high cost. This may leave the impression that the HX3 does not emulate the nine contacts. But it does! When a note is triggered, the HX3 performs a sequence of switch actions including bouncing contacts. These occur partly randomly and are modulated by velocity. The audible result is a multi contact keyclick effect just like the original B3.

Yes! Forgot to put this video in the description...I couldn't believe when I saw this, looks like a very cool project. Thank you!

You will dig that module-thanks again for the interview!

Yes! I am already digging it Paul, sounds great, I'm doing some latency experiments now comparing it to the Mojo... (next video will be about that I guess) thanks for stopping by!🙌

@@AbelBoquera To my ears the HX3.5 is faster and on top of that fatter. It took some time to dial it in though. Be sure to check out different Cap settings also. I prefer mine "recapped" with the H series rather than the B-3. All the best!

Hi everybody of Hammond lovers,I’ve notice that 80% of these clones sounds to thin and don’t sound as the fat sound of a B3. Bought the new Hammond xk4 . Looking at these videos to make a perfect clone is very difficult. But you are searching for these famous Hammond sounds. I’ve had almost all the Hammond clones since the 80’s and lately have been listening the mojos sounds which I like very much with that different but good percussion sound of the mojo . They make Also a good overdrive as well. I’m a Hammond enthusiast since the 70’s her in Bogota Colombia , South America. I will be looking forward for your new Hammond clones.

Very interesting videos, thank's ! In the end of his one, you said you'll try HX3 with a Nord Electro. Did you test the rotary controls (slow, stop, fast) or maybe the halfmoon controler ? Does the midi mapping of the HX3 work ? Thank you for your answer.

MAG or Mojo? Leaning Mag now. I have always thought this was the best engine. I own a Roland VK-77 I might get a midi expander for it. Not sure about a MAG yet because I’m guessing they are at least 5K US

Mag has the HX3 engine, I think it’s better sounding than the Mojo and has no latency. Thank you for the comment!🙌

    Hi.
The video Guido posted below is an old one of the first prototype of an optical keyboard I developed years ago. In that old video the keyboard worked with the very first version of the HX board (called HOAX at that time).
The development was stopped due to the reasons Carsten mentioned in the interview.
in this video czcams.com/video/xsR3u0iVB6A/video.html I used an organ build for myself with the optical contacts and a HX-3, Vers. 3.0 board.

I presently have a Hammond Suzuki
X- B3. Would the HX3 hook up to the organ in such a way that all the controls, especially the drawbars, would work on the HX3?

You should ask directly to Carsten at keyboardpartner, I recall they told me the Hammond Suzuki was not easy to map. But I guess it´s possible, Carsten will tell you!

Will there be a updated HX3 with a 11 pin connector?
