  • Are you a graduate student applying for a U.S. visa? Well, your U.S. visa interview will be different than an undergraduate visa interview. There are some differences in what the visa officer is looking for and how they assess your case. Ex-Visa officers who are consultants at Argo have come together to have a discussion on how to succeed as a visa applicant when you are a graduate student.

    Thank you so much Argo team. It was my first attempt and I got the F1 visa. I got approved this last Tuesday 30 May 2023. I went with no Travel History. My passport was with no any visa. I didn't smile even one time. I didn't see anything funny. I was so serious I couldn't fake a smile but was just focused with eyes contact to the consuler officer while responding to the questions. I have strong ties back home. That's why I got my visa approved. I am employed for 6 years now in the same company. I am a Logistics Manager with a good salary. I will pay my studies by myself and got 25% of scholarship from the university. I am Married. I have no siblings or parents in the US.

    Hello Argo Visa!
    I am going to apply for a new F1 Student Visa in November for a Masters Degree... My last Student Visa expired in June 2021 so I'm going to renew it. In my country I don’t need to make an appointment before December 2022. So, it will be difficult to get approved? What should I know to get approved it? I am praying that everything goes well!

    Hi Argo and everyone,
    I have got funded PhD program that also requires to show some family fund. Though my family showed financial support of around $13k, in my I20 it is still mentioned as $9k which leads my actual funding and estimated average cost for 12 months as exactly equal. May I know if it is too risky for F1 visa approval?
    Because visa interview appointment dates will be available any time, may I know if I can request for modifying/editing some part of I20 (e.g., finance) after taking visa appointment ?

    • @dewale
      @dewale Před 2 lety

      I don't think it's an issue if the estimated cost and actual funding are equal, that should be the ideal case. The visa officer just wants to see that you have enough means to at least cover your first year's cost of attendance. It is always good to have more than required in your bank statement so that if the visa officer asks for it, you have it ready.

    Just wondering: suppose you're going for a PhD program and the university has granted you full funding in the form of an assistantship of 2,500 USD per month for the entire 4 years of the PhD program, will the applicant still be required to provide a personal bank statement with personal funds or the graduate assistantship letter will be enough?

      @ArgoSocial  Před 27 dny +1
