  • @Mr._Lister_The_Sister_Phister

    I've gotta give props to GW for their upfront honesty. They arent perfect, but they have my respect for clarifying that the box contains "1 Miniature" rather than an actual Necron Monolith.

  • @johnbruce4004
    @johnbruce4004 Před 3 lety +9

    I remember buying a Baneblade for £50. Nothing except price and box has changed. It's not so much about forecasting for that model since capital costs long since recovered. But agree that is part of initial pricing. Still it looks cool.

  • @8bitbonsai
    @8bitbonsai Před 3 lety +13

    the price is ridiculous, i like the model but the fact that its a "lord of war" now, that it lost the "flying" keyword that its "titanic" and that it dont have "quantum shielding" made it a really bad model. 24 hp and a 2+ save doesnt cut it

    really struggling with if im ever going to get this kit or not... on the table, it doesnt really offer me much to make me want it, but the nostalgic, 17 year old duff from 4th is really on the edge about getting it... your build videos kill it man, they help me fill curiosities as far as wanting to have the feeling of unboxing and building, with out dropping the cash. great video as always rob!

    I'm on a pause on buying GW for a while after this, the giants, Warcry, and the Combat Patrol price hikes. Even if you are employed like myself it does not make sense to shell out this kind of cash right now in the current economic downturn. GW has priced their product out of the market.

    • @wakcedout
      @wakcedout Před 3 lety

      More so a purchase made.once the spare funds are available.
      Gives plenty to do if you want the most detail. I know ill be getting one as well as the silent king, but yes the 150 and 170 price tags do have me on a slowdown.

    • @lI-tm2pn
      @lI-tm2pn Před 3 lety

      The BA combat patrol is actually a really good deal. They are an even a better deal than the space marine battleforce for some dumb reason lol. My philoshophy with buying games workshop stuff is only buying bundles such as starter sets like Indomitus, or start collecting/combat patrols or battleforces. Never buy anything individually. It will end up in a box sooner or later.

    Im glad you mentioned composition because I was thinking the same thing. As you turned it over in your hands it was genuinely pleasing at every angle with interesting details and design choices. Its not worth almost the same price as Indomitus but i digress

  • @DungeonMiser
    @DungeonMiser Před 3 lety +5

    A scrapbooking cutter and a trip to Hobby Lobby could get you the same thing for $12

  • @davidwatson1912
    @davidwatson1912 Před 3 lety

    Everytime I see this model I think back to the line in the film 'Big' when they are product testing new transforming toys. Tom Hanks puts his hand up and quotes 'It's a building, where's the fun in buildings'. This may well be a great unit on the battlefield but this is how I feel about the look, build, or even painting this thing.

  • @jchan8539
    @jchan8539 Před 3 lety +1

    I saw this thing at my local hobby shop. Thought it would be fun to build and paint. Saw the price tag, and put it back down.

  • @displeasedsociopath5939
    @displeasedsociopath5939 Před 3 lety +6

    It's not worth the price. The golf ball monolith is dumber than the green plastic ring pop monolith. Yeah the portal effect is neat but it's not worth +$120. Moving it to a lord of war with out putting quantum shielding on it ... Just no. It's rules are trash. It's officially useless. Putting a new gun option on it just isn't enough to justify it's existence.

  • @InquisitorKryptman
    @InquisitorKryptman Před 3 lety +1

    Why do you not have more views!? Great video, really helps with scale, price and some features of the miniature that you don't get to see from GW's marketing team.

  • @prophet89
    @prophet89 Před 3 lety +9

    that is straight up price gouging. I could get a Perfect grade gundam kit for that price and wouldn't have to paint the thing. GW has lost me on character and vehicle kits.

  • @sailorcam6347
    @sailorcam6347 Před 3 lety +7

    If they wanted more people to buy this kit as a Necron player why the hell did GW move it to a Lord of War. I was ready to buy all three new kits Void Dragon, Silent King and Monolith. Willing to play the price if it was a heavy support not lord of war.

  • @alexandergoldnatznworeptil9652

    It's a shame that this beautiful model is that outrageous expensive (130€). If it was 70 to 80€ i would have might considered a purchase. Especially as i think you could go crazy with Led illumination on it, and i eagerly await the first examples showing up on yt.
    Again to the prices, it's a shame. I just reconsidered reentering the Hobby, and i dare to say gw could have made thousands of me in the next couple of years if their prices would be fair or if they would Show some respect to their Community who stood by Them faithfully for years. But cheap tricks like increasing the prices every few months or so, repacking the models for that purpose, rebranding and changing their color palette so you have to buy new, baiting with cheap core boxes (indomitus) then givjng you the bat with needed "Expansion" Models like the monolith are putting me way Off, and i am glad for not being Part of warhammer anymore. Although i still feel a deep grief for gw what they did to it because of company greed.

    I see this with thoughts of adding it to my.necron army. Then i think how much im noe glad i bought an airbrush.
    Even painting in stages this things gonna work my airbrush to the limit. Especially when i try osl woth the portal and whatever other bits seem would radiate a green glow.
    This kit will take me some real time to.finish when i get one.

  • @yashabreslove8276
    @yashabreslove8276 Před 3 lety

    Great review! I love how thoroughly you looked over this, with the detailed unboxing and inspection, and it’s great to see the model all together. In particular, highlighting the parts that fit together or need shaved down is a godsend. The price is still astounding, but makes more sense as a Lord of War. I just wish that since it is such an investment/elite choice now, it has Quantum Shielding in place of its old anti-Melta rule.
