- ArcGIS Pro supports LiDAR data provided as LAS. This video covers best practices for preparing and extracting information from LiDAR:
• Classifying LAS files into a number of categories and extracting data to cover a smaller area
• Manually editing and modifying classification codes to represent building roof points
• Changing the display of an LAS dataset layer
• Creating textured 3D buildings and realistic tress from digital elevation models derived from your LiDAR points using tools in a local government 3D basemap solution.
• Publishing and sharing your realistic buildings and trees as a web scene in ArcGIS Online

Thank you for the informative video, I needed this for class.
Thanks Chelsea for watching this video. I am so glad you found it useful.
Hi. Sepideh. thank you for your tutorial
Thank you so much for this video
Hi Dear Sepideh, thanks for the content. Would you mind help me to find how did you find the building textures like rooftops or facet?
Excellent tutorial, thank you so much. I am trying to create a shapefile containing building polygons and their respective elevations. I have a doubt whether this can be created using the steps mentioned above?
Hi Mohammad, sorry for the late reply. You can extract building footprint from Lidar using new 3D basemaps solution in ArcGIS Pro 2.7.
Hi Sepideh, thank you so much for great tutorial. I was wondering how building detection algorithm works, based on the shape of cluster of points or intensity? I would like to try it to detect woody debris in the forest.
Hi Shuxrat, I am so sorry for the late reply.
To detect woody debris in the forest, you may want to use object detection from imagery. This is a new solution that works only on ArcGIS Pro 2.7.
Thank you so much for the information , it was great. But really facing some issues regarding adding the "ExtractRoofform " tool from the 3D BASE MAP addon and it's really a complex process. It would be great, if you can add a video regarding the whole process of adding the 3D BaseMap addon in ArcGIS. I have also gone through the steps you mentioned in one of the comments but it isn't working .Looking forward to hear back
Hi Anvesh, Sorry for my late reply. Please use this link to launch the ArcGIS Solution App and download the 3D basemaps solution package from Arc GIS Online. You can use this link to launch the ArcGIS Solution app

Follow the steps in this document, and if you are in Canada, please contact Esri Canada tech support; they can help you.
where i can get lidar data like in the video?
Hello , kya muje bta sakte ho isko kaha per sekha jata hai ,, location kya hoge ,
when i select the points, the color changes to white and i cannot select any points.
can you please help me .
Hi Kartikay,
Once a selection tool has been chosen for the manual classification method, the points that are not full resolution will appear with light gray symbology. Zoom in and move around the display to change the points that are selectable.
Press and hold the C key to use the Explore tool while you are using any of the selection tools.
If the LAS dataset contains very large numbers of points, it may not be possible for ArcGIS Pro to display the Lidar at full resolution after you click the selection tool. The LAS dataset layer will render a random subset of the points across the entire view. Please let me know if the selection tool in the classification tab works if you zoom in to the map display.
@@esricanadatechnologyadopti8224Hi, thanks for your reply. I did try it but still no change. the apply changes buttons, clear buttons everything are greyed out. Also as shown in the video, the selected point should be of blue colour that doesn't happen in my case. I request your kind assistance if possible.
@@esricanadatechnologyadopti8224 HI i have figured it out thanks to your help. It means a lot
