To learn some stuff i learned today from this channel it would take me years or just one day where i simply couldn't stop watching this amazing stuff. Thanks a lot!
Tons of information!! and my favorite short is "TELL" i jus love watching it over n over again learning a lot from you guys!!! keep up the good work....!!!!! peace \/ \m/
The ONE time when I don't have apples! Also, I feel like I've learned so much on shooting scenes from this video alone than any classes and articles I've taken and read.
I appreciate you and film riot so much love you guys the energy the vibes the intelligence you an amazing person dude !! I will keep working and one day hope to work with ya
My new favourite channel. You will be going on my featured channels in top place. I LOVE THIS CHANNEL OMG I HOPE U SELL THINGS SO I CAN GIVE U ALL MY MONEY 😩
Hey FilmRiot, love your videos ;) Hum, If you shoot your scene with only one camera.... what Audio do you take ? ...and how do you synchronize it.. like if you did 2 shots, the actors will not say everything exactly like the previous shot.. :p Thanks!
i think, if u use extra mic u sync with some apps like premiere pro and like he said, take the one angle u needed until finish not move-here-move-there a lot too much :)
I spent 4 bucks at a thrift store for a scene slate and it's made a massive difference. You know, that clacker that has the take number on it, the clack has a real purpose, syncing.
Hello guys I’m really interested on how to sync the audio within many shots, can anyone please explain how to do this to me in easier terms. I’ve already tried it, researched it but can’t seem to do it like Film Riot.
Oke this video was freaking helpful, I love making movies but I didn't know it was a bummer I onky have one camera but now I know it doesnt matter!! THANKYOU
This question might sound stupid but, how did you edit the audio. I mean the background noise and stuff. Because if I filmed it and just left it like that it wouldn't sound that professional??. It would be lots of help if someone replied with an answer thank you.
+yahBoyJbreezy You need to use professional sound equipment which picks up mainly dialogue and less background noise. You have to record sound separately using like a zoom h4n + boom mic and then in post, synchronise it all. Also make sure to record atmos on the day of shooting so for example if you shooting outside of the road, make sure you just record that separately which will add a smooth and natural background noise and you can control how high or low you want it.
When your filming with the 1 camera. Do you film the whole scene at one angle, the film it again at a different angle and keep doing it until you have made the film
+BrickBuilder11 So does this mean that the actors say there line 2-3 times? This is all very confusing to me. I don't know how to make it perfect like in 0:55. Can you please explain to me thx. :S
Ryan, please make more videos like this! Ones that everyone can do and so everyone can understand the basic foundation needed to make a good film instead of random effects that can only be used so many times. Even still, keep up the good work!
Wow this is great! Thank you so much for making this video! It really helped answer a lot of questions I was having about shooting multiple angles with a single camera.
Knowing filming terms such as “triangle coverage”, “inserts” or “cut away” are great. Can you make a video where you discuss different terms used for shooting scenes? I also liked how you discussed that you can adjust how each actor can cut off another to communicate pace. Wonder if there are other techniques to communicate things other than pace?
It's a valid question. Some people are new to filmmaking and are simply hungry for the basics. I didn't even know how to split clips in my NLE when I first started, now I can tell you the importance of ISO and Shutter speed while offering advice such as 3 point lighting to those who are struggling with grainy images. We all have to start from somewhere, and I appreciate Zomboy32's eagerness to learn.
has anyone ever noticed that filmriots own comments are almost always the highest rated? that just shows how much everyone appreciates a reply and downright loves filmriot :)
Film riot has definitely had a huge impact on starting this film company. Our goal of releasing at least one short film a week was mostly inspired by filmriot, so thank you Ryan Connolly and crew for the inspiration!
while i watch this show religiously, i don't film alot of stuff even though i dropped alot of cash on an HD camcorder just because i always thought i needed more cameras to pull off that great stuff you guys are doing. Now that i know i don't need more than one camera...i'm excited!
'You are Harry Potter"

Her acting is like sooooo good!!!
Oh man I love you guys filmriot! You guys cover everything, props, effects, lighting, sound, coverage, editing, you do it all!!
To learn some stuff i learned today from this channel it would take me years or just one day where i simply couldn't stop watching this amazing stuff. Thanks a lot!
ahhh, 2011 when film riot uploaded in 720p...
Coverage and insert shots can definitely save a scene! We love when we have random daily shots that we can splice and save continuity! ;)
Love what you guys do!!! I watch you guys all the time and learn so much!
your teaching is so advanced yet you get the message across easily! genius!
Tons of information!!

Thanks!
i think, if u use extra mic u sync with some apps like premiere pro and like he said, take the one angle u needed until finish not move-here-move-there a lot too much :)
just duplicate the audio and add it over the other shots
I spent 4 bucks at a thrift store for a scene slate and it's made a massive difference. You know, that clacker that has the take number on it, the clack has a real purpose, syncing.
Or you can clap your hands, thats what i do
Hello guys I’m really interested on how to sync the audio within many shots, can anyone please explain how to do this to me in easier terms. I’ve already tried it, researched it but can’t seem to do it like Film Riot.
Your videos have a very great cinematic look, and every week it gets even better! Amazing.
Thank you FilmRiot. You're the best. Keep it coming.
Oke this video was freaking helpful, I love making movies but I didn't know it was a bummer I onky have one camera but now I know it doesnt matter!! THANKYOU
This was extremely helpful. I want to make a short film and actually was going to do it in real time. Now I know not to, thanks!
this is the episode ive always needed! thanks guys!
Every time I watch one of your videos I feel happier.
This question might sound stupid but, how did you edit the audio. I mean the background noise and stuff. Because if I filmed it and just left it like that it wouldn't sound that professional??. It would be lots of help if someone replied with an answer thank you.

+Roman Brezovsky (RomanBFreestyle) Thanks for your reply. I heard that I would need a shotgun mic but I can't find any for my camera
+yahBoyJbreezy most mics will fit all brands if dslrs you could get a Rode mic for $100 or a cheap mic with hella accessories for $60
Well, if you're low on budget or something you could at least use Adobe Audition at the very least.
WOW ONE CAMERA ... I would of never thought that
i know! gotta try it out
You must have knew that, because when your watching over the shoulder shots behind two people, how come you don't see the other camera.
I just wanna say thank you! You guys have been extremely helpful, and even inspirational for me. Again thank you very much!
Great episode! Then again, every episode of Film Riot is awesome.
When your filming with the 1 camera. Do you film the whole scene at one angle, the film it again at a different angle and keep doing it until you have made the film
@Lucky I'm not sure if that was the answer he was looking for, but thank you for trying.
Did you ever find out that answer?
Are the actors doing the scene 2-3 times from different angles? Or do I have to film, change location, film, change location, etc?
No they did all the dialogue from one shot with retakes, then did all the other shots the same.
+BrickBuilder11 So does this mean that the actors say there line 2-3 times? This is all very confusing to me. I don't know how to make it perfect like in 0:55. Can you please explain to me thx. :S
+Vrumple so they film one actor doing all their lines, then go to the other actor and do all their lines.
+BrickBuilder11 then edit it to look like its all one part.
+BrickBuilder11 Ohhhh makes sense. Ty:D
Honestly simple tutorials like these are a huge help!
one of the best skits yet
Whoa whoa whoa! If the cowboy is naked, how doesn't anyone know he's a cowboy?

Best Video I've Seen So Far! That multiple camera Helped me Alot. Thanks!
Ryan, please make more videos like this! Ones that everyone can do and so everyone can understand the basic foundation needed to make a good film instead of random effects that can only be used so many times. Even still, keep up the good work!
emily grew up quite nicely
do something on iMovie plz!
iMovie is wayyyy to basic.
iMovie has only overlays and things. He won't use it unless he's doing something very basic.
iMovie can't even cut videos .
iMovie is poop....
SEBA NRG actually, imovie can cut videos, it is very much a watered down version of final cut pro
I love the sudden and quick 3D...ness on the "Special Effects" logo in the title sequence. Very nice touch.
Wow this is great! Thank you so much for making this video! It really helped answer a lot of questions I was having about shooting multiple angles with a single camera.
That was disappointing. I was waiting for him to Avada Kedavra her.
Kids... xD
thanks I was wondering for ages how to do different angles in a film with one camera, and thanks for explaining the different terms.
I've actually been wondering about this for a while. Awesome video!
Damn you guys look so different so long ago! Great to come back to this classic 😆
I like this kind of practical advice way more than the effects stuff. Please do more like this. Please please and please
I really like how you also mentioned the effectiveness of long, uncut shots as used by Hitchcock and Shamalama. Good work, pops :D
