I got both the r8 and the r8+ and gave the r8+ to my dad. I don't get how the tension dial works, I keep twisting it and don't notice anything. Maybe mine is broken. Anyway apart from that, i love it. I use mine for a few minutes after runs, before I sleep, when I wake up. So convenient compared to foam rolling. I keep mine next to my bed so I never forget
I’m glad your Dad gets to use one too! Yeah, perhaps one of the springs has become disconnected so isn’t tightening! It makes a big difference on my R8+!
I have to leave mine out where I see it too; I’ll forget to do it if I put it away!
You were having way too much fun with it. We all know that recovery is supposed to be drudgery and misery.😁I just roll with an empty glass beer bottle and it's working fine so far, but I love the overkill engineering of that thing. Maybe one of these days...
At first glance it does appear a little Rube-Goldberg-ish, but the design is sound and it just works well! 😁 With that said, it doesn't come with free beer like your roller does! 🤷🏻♂ 🤣

Great rev! I see these all the time but never tried one out. These would be a great alternative for a massage gun!
It still surprises me just how good this works and how much more convenient it is than roam rolling. I think a massage gun still has a place in our recovery routine. 👊🏽

Honestly it's hard to view this as an honest review when the guy is wearing a Roll Recovery t-shirt.
Haha! Fair point, however, I’m not a fan of the term “honest review.” It strikes me as nothing more than marketing and it seems like too many reviewers throw that term around implying theirs is the only one to be trusted and others put out dishonest reviews. Still, I’m only describing how it works for me. If you like the sound of it, buy it. If not, you can always return it. I use mine on a regular basis and I find it 10x better than foam rolling. 👍🏽
@@its_Matt_B_ Fair enough, but potential buyers look for honest reviews. I'm not saying you aren't honest, but why wear the company t-shirt in your review of the product? Seems like common sense that would be something to avoid so as to not look biased. I'm someone that does a lot of research and doesn't go off one review anyways, but just pointing out something that looks off from an outsider's perspective since I've never visited your channel before. All the best to you! Oh, and I will be purchasing one of these for my son who is a collegiate runner.

Look like a great product! I have a cylinder roller which I used twice. Now it just gathers dust. It is just to awkward. This product is user friendly. Something to save up my money for. Do massage guns serve the same purpose or are they different?
Generally speaking, massage guns serve the same purpose: myofascial release. The difference is that massage guns work better at a single area, where as something like the R8+ more easily works the whole muscle. I think there is room for both in our recovery routines! 👊🏽 Keep up the great training, Ray! 💪🏽
@@its_Matt_B_ Thanks for the information. Suggestion: Check the "Run Tall with Tim" channel. He just showcased a HeatPulse Knee Massager which may interest you if you don't already know about it. It also works on elbow and shoulder joints too.

I would go with the R8 and then buy a cheap massage gun from Amazon.
Wow, I thought the price was a bit steep, since I've got a $10 drug store knock off... but mine never gave me the pleasure you got from that one in the last 10 minutes! 😆
