- The Confederate Cavalier JEB Stuart has ridden through the pages of history since he first burst onto the Civil War scene. He became Robert E. Lee's eyes and ears, bringing him valuable information and screening the Army of Northern Virginia's movements through most of the war. He fell from grace after the Battle of Gettysburg, but his flamboyant manner has carried him into and placed him squarely in the annals of history. With a plume in his hat and his magnificent red beard, Union soldiers feared the cavalrymen because it seemed JEB was everywhere all at once. In this biography, I will explore the life of the man simply known as JEB. In this episode, JEB Stuart rides around the Union Army on the Peninsula and then was pivotal in the Second Battle of Manassas.

Jeb Stuart's ride around George Mcclellan ' Army is legendary and risky at the same time.
Good old JEB
I heard he was in ... Wilson Pickett s charge ...
It was General John Buford’s Troopers that gained the intelligence and almost caught Stuart!! The Old Dragoon and the Beau Sabeur fighting would have been a sight to see!! I hope to see a series on old John Buford in the future!! Another amazing video Dr. Wilder!! Outstanding!!
I went back and watched parts 1,2 & 3 before this video. Excellent storytelling - I am hooked.
I'm so happy you hear that.
Thanks
Thank you so much!
I really enjoy these videos ❤
Fascinating man. Great job Dr Wilder.
Thank you!
Another excellent video!
Very detailed. Well done sir.
I've been anticipating this! Very good, as have all these episodes been, in this Stuart series.
JEB's ride around McClellan is one of my favorite reads , the more details you dig up the better the tale gets....
Does anyone know where the great indian fighter George Custer was at this period of time ?
It's good to know that even 162 years ago a man would do almost anything to get his favorite hat back
Easily the best civil war content. Well, you and atun shei lol. Excellent work.
The Rebels were great on home soil in Virginia at the start of the season... but struggled to win games on the road in the playoffs.
One of my favorite vids from you. Enjoying this series.
I'm so glad to hear it
Very Good
So you mentioned Captain William Latane of the Essex Light Dragoons, The Latane family ( pronounced Lat-Ne ) is prominent in the region. A lot of Latane’s farm and raise vegetables and cattle across the upper Rappahanock in the north end of Westmoreland county.
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
You're welcome Dr. Wilder. Keep the videos coming. Could you possibly do a video on the relationship between Lee and Stuart in the future?!
That man Jeb loved naps lmao
Also of note is the modest memorial near Rt 360 off of Aviation Drive to a Mr Juan Passagaluppi who was an Italian immigrant who migrated up from NOLA area to Essex County Va and fought in Stuart’s light horse artillery.
This one is shaping up nicely 👍
Jeb Stuart was a great Confederate General. As a cavalry officer, he was only outwitted by Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest.
Forrest is grossly overrated.
Take away Brice’s crossroads a battle in which he beat general stugis not exactly the best of the best. What did he do that affected the war.
He is a good but somehow he has been elevated to great without any just cause. Bragg said he was a good raider nothing more. A little harsh but I kinda agree.
All the major battles he fought at he either plays a small role or doesn’t help the confederate cause. His biggest failure is Chickamauga on the 19th Bragg is about to launch a massive attack and Forrest stops it by pealing of troops to fight a union division.
To learn more read “failure in the saddle “
@@liberalman8319 He won many battles and skirmishes while being "grossly" outnumbered. He was a brilliant tactician. As far as reading the rag you suggest, I'll leave that to you liberals. To the victor go the spoils...and the rewriting of history.
@@bobwilliams5506 forgot conservatives don’t like books.
Forrest is only liked for being the klan leader.
@@bobwilliams5506I’m sure your okkk with Forrest.
@@liberalman8319 Well now, I'm certainly not surprised you went with that take. It's your answer to everything. You're full of shit as most liberals are. Have a nice day.
15:52 I keep on hearing “General Polk” and I was so confused. Why would JEB attack Polk’s forces. Then I realized you were actually saying “General Pope.” I found it hard to understand the way you pronounced the Union General.

The south shall rise again.
Forrest was Superior to Stuart by far, Stuart left Lee hanging at Gettysburg whilst attacking Meades supply train, the price of 125 wagons was the battle..Forrest was a far Superior leader than Stuart
What did Forrest do that was so great over any other confederate cavalry leader.
Jeb could read, Forrest could not read
@@liberalman8319 they hide that info books
