This caused Ukraine to be pushed off the podium. Was this the right call? #gymnast #olympics #olympic #judge #fitness #sports #ukraine #japan #fitness #judge
Kui Yuanyuan not winning gold on Beam at 97 Worlds was bigger. The 2004 event finals of High Bar at the Olympics for men was HUGE controversy. Shannon Miller not winning gold in 92 Allaround after Gutsu failed to even make the allaround yet they faked injury on others and put her in and Gutsu won. The entire all around for women at the 2000 games becuz of the vault not at right height was huge not to mention the debacle with Andrea Raducan of Romania in allaround. Speaking of Romanian, Nadia not winning the 80 Olympics was bigger. Kristie Phillips being underscored by the judges simply cuz of her "weight"and not making the 88 team was a big deal to me even.
I'm with you there but Nadia losing in 1980 was fair and square and she has even admitted it. It was because she fell on the bars in team and she even said if she had not fallen, there'd be no question. But she did and that's why Davydova won. We shouldn't discount Davydova's win, she was excellent too.
This is the one that I know most about but I still don’t understand how MULTIPLE, OLYMPIC level gymnasts. Did their vaults at the wrong table height 🤷♀️ like I might not have figured it out straight away but I would’ve felt something is off?? But I guess you don’t expect the table to be wrong at the Olympics 😂
The Paul Hamm controversy was crazy too. The judges added the scores incorrectly. Hamm should have gotten silver instead of gold in the 2004 Olympic all around.
The Koreans had their start values incorrectly and it was their fault. They waited until after the competition was over to submit an inquiry. The one that complained was the one that got bronze not the one that got silver!
No, Hamm would have won the gold anyway when the TOTAL scoring was redone. Because the judges made two errors with Hamm's opponent Yang, the corrected score would have been lower, not higher, adding 0.1 but deducting 0.2 for Yang's 4th pause ("hang"). It never made sense that so much was made of one judging error but not of the second judging error. The net total has Hamm still winning.
@@qc1okay the IOC literally had a hearing about whether to strip Hamm’s gold away and give it to the second place finisher so I don’t think what you’re saying is right
@@gymnasmic7425 Those hearings and rulings supported Hamm and supported my point about the math. You're probably remembering one of the individual people (Grandi), not the full rulings. All the official rulings supported my math point: if we're rescoring Yang's performance, we must rescore ALL of it (making his score lower, not higher).
As soon as I saw the title, I knew it was going to be about this lol. I don't think he should have been credited especially considering how long the judges were debating for.
@Viki Show hey girl the only people that are gonna be watching your content are predators, and only a tiny few would be kids and parents. please take that stuff down. you dont know what those videos can be used for and its not fun.
@@zirconium2014 Thank you for this comment! Kids these days are extremely vulnerable on the internet and these kind of videos attract the wrong type of people. I don't understand why parents still don't seem the realize this. It honestly makes me sad just thinking about it.
@@zirconium2014I just looked at her channel to see if she'd followed your advice. The account says that her parents run it, which is both better and worse because they are obviously exploiting their child, but hopefully they will be the only ones to see any nasty messages that are sent to her. Thanks for being a decent person and trying to help save a child from exploitation.
I as a person on the internet have no doubt that my knee jerk decision is the objective truth. He should have gotten the points. The .7 he got from the decision were probably not the most favorable “benefit of the doubt” points given that competition. He should get an amount of credit for landing more correctly than someone less adaptable and gifted would have there

You're right there have been so many big controversies in gymnastics it's insane

Benefit of the doubt? You can see he didn't fulfill the rule requirement for a dismount. inquiry should've been rejected.
@@Kaboomboodavydova absolutely deserved that win

I'm no expert, but that was the shittiest dismount I've seen and I love watching gymnastics so I've seen a few.
The rules have changed. Even so he still would’ve been allowed to perform the dismount again. Those are the new rules
So you would count it as a fall and he would be allowed to restart from the fall?
A count for fall with added points for dismount would still have not done it for Japan.
This is pro sports and he clearly BAILED rather than do a calculated dismount - No points for him
More videos like this pls!!
I know nothing about the rules, but I understand that the whole thing should look aesthetically pleasing. That dismount was shite.
Absolutely. The question was whether it was a shite dismount, or too shite to count as a dismount at all.

Paul Hamm nevertheless gave it his all in the last two rotations with 9.85+ on both events!

I think it looked like he fell and messed up the dismount but still wanted the points.
Judge's trying to make up for previous mistake or did he perform within the rules?
This is crazy
I mean I wouldn’t even call this a dismount, more like a flop to the floor. He shouldn’t have been credited for that.

They should give him extra points because of most difficultly dismount 😂
He fell, or at the very least lost his balance. Falling isn't a dismount.
