I think “The Row” is overrated, overhyped and overpriced. It is amazing how brands get pumped up by media. The Margo reminds me nothing of the Birkin except being a tote bag.
I have an entire album on my phone for my wishlist. I put three photos of each product, one of them showing me the price to remind me. It's functional because if I change my mind I just delete it from my phone. If I really like something, I go to try it on. It's helped me a lot to only buy things I want to keep forever.
Yes, a mood board helps a lot. You save things which you loved initially but when you review them you may reconsider.

more than a century ago, louis cartier made a deal with a founder of jaeger-lecoultre so JLC would make cartier watches. it still stands. that's why cartier watches are marked "swiss made", for instance. to say cartier watches are fashion watches is a bit of a mischaracterization.
Not to mention Cartier have numerous watches under their belt that that even watch collectors have. The Santos, crash, ballon de bleu, tank etc. just like Bulgari, who are not just known for their jewelry but watches and perfumes as well.
I love the Crash.. What a breathtaking piece. Also, as an Art History major I never appreciated Rothko. Then, years later, I visited a retrospective and I was STUNNED. I couldn't leave the exhibition, it was so magnetic and impactful.. I'm definitely interested in your art journey!

I’d love to follow along with your art and timepiece journey. I love art and architecture. I’m looking to redo my little sitting area to add more art pieces and a vintage furniture piece thats fitting.
I’m also a timepiece lover. I’ve seen a Vintage Patek Philippe Eclipse Gold Bezzel watch and it looked lovely on the gentleman wearing it.

I add pieces that I know will go with other pieces that I already have. Everything blends and swirls around everything else. Neutral clothing: beiges, navy, gray, BLACK-with pops of color from scarves, earrings, rodeo charms (yes, I still love them).
Re: The Margaux-I absolutely LOVE my 15s in black (smooth) and Taupe (pebbled). I agree that 17s would work best for you. The Margaux is a lot like a fat Hermès White Bus with buckles added on the sides. Yes! Art is SO good! It brings joy AND more often than not, price appreciation).

I have a wishlist split into two: "To Think" and "To Buy". First I add items to "To Think" and leave them there for a few weeks. After, if I still want them, I move them to "To Buy". Right now, I have two items in my "To Buy" wishlist: Cartier Panthère and Céline Teen Triomphe ☺

How about the big ticket items ? It’ll take a loooong time to save up twice the amount . It would’ve went through several price increases already 😪
If it’s anything but a Kelly or Birkin it’s a bad investment. Just look at the retail market for any of the items. Sure Chanel has had crazy price hikes but their quality has gone down and retail isn’t what they’re charging.
Would love to see videos on your venture for some art pieces. My vote is on the Hermes women long sleeve sweater. I have two from the FW 2023 collection. They do fit large so will need to size down. For the first time, I’m not sure about a 2024 wishlist. 😅

Intentional spending is always best and it seems as though you have learned this lesson as well. I used to be notorious for purchasing resort wear and tropical prints while vacationing in Hawaii. By the time I arrived home, none of those clothing items worked in my day to day life. I stood out like a sore thumb! Even during the summer months in Canada, people don’t generally wear loud prints with tropical motifs, so there they sit in my closet taking up valuable space, never mind the money I lost on the USD vs CAD exchange rate. I really try hard nowadays to be wiser when shopping, especially when I’m visiting other countries. I am trying to make sure the clothing items I select are going to blend well in my “real” life back home. The money I wasted while in Peru, for example, on Peruvian attire is shocking and the pieces I selected look ridiculous in my hometown. It makes me giggle a little.🤭 Ahh, such is life. I’ll just throw on the Peruvian poncho and try to rock it anyway! 😁
It's so important to keep our "lifestyle" in mind when investing in luxury purchases. Although I'm sure you still look fabulous in a poncho 🤍
I like the look of lizard but I would not succeed in looking after it. So too stressful for me. Especially at Hermes prices! And I don’t go to events so I would not get the use from it. I hope the exam preparation goes well! Nice list. Thank you for the video!
Get the art! There are so many emerging artist…. Buy what you love. The pieces I have all appreciated… go figure and I just bought what I liked. Yes take us along on your art journey. You r on the right track and if you get watch do not get one from a fashion house. Get it from a watch maker.

Great video! Today I refused a bag from Hermes because the bag was not a good fit for me (haut à courrroies casake orange and black)… I prefer to wait and get offered something that will fit better in my life.
I agree! I wouldn’t spend a lot of money on something I have to protect my life with. It needs to protect me! I also agree with considering lifestyle when getting a bag. I’m working on getting a birkin 25, and know that it’s not ideal for my simple life, but if I’m offered one - I will not refuse😊
I recommend getting a vintage AP Royal Oak jumbo watch. Prices have corrected quite a bit and the vintage watches are better quality than the contemporary ones IMO. They aren't making any more vintage ones and it's a safe bet the watch will be worth more as the years roll on as it's arguably one the most important watches of all time. I bought one recently and it's now my crown jewel of my collection (Nautilus, Day-Date, GMT, Octo Finissimo, Tank). I think it'd suit your style.

I have bought luxury items before the internet and when I could not afford them, 11:49 I saved and saved and saved again and in the meantime I pondered whether they were worth it. My Chaumet anneau rings and my silver Cartier Must are classics.

Dear GPS, I'll be buying a Hermes wallet/cardholder in a few months time during my trip to japan. I love the etoupe color option but I am torn between the calvi, citizen, twill card holder or cheval picto card holder.

I share your hesitation regarding watches from fashion houses, as opposed to technical watchmakers. I would consider the 'Big 5' although have you considered Jaeger Lecoultre Reverso? It's shape and appearance is similar to Cartier leather-strap watches, if not slightly more robust with art-deco curves and a unique feature of 'flipping' the face of the watch. The price has increased significantly recently.
Buy it vintage, discontinued models are rare and exquisite, both for JLC and Cartier. I would sell my soul for a Cartier Tank Chinoise in platinum
Jaeger LeCoultre watches were the first I tried many years ago on Madison, as their boutique used to be right by Hermes 🤍
I think you'll love the Margaux. I have the 10 & just bought the 15, both in the matte grained leather. They are fantastic, easy wearing, lightweight bags. I, like u, wish they weren't so popular. I saw one in Croc years ago, before I knew what it was and hunted it down and found it. I'd personally love the Croc but can't justify the cost. If it were my only bag and I used it daily that might be different.
You've built quite the collection of Margaux bags 😍 I remember when the Margaux first launched in Croc, I, too, was amazed by it but couldn't justify the price for at the time relatively unknown brand. But now, I so wish I could go back in time, because Barneys regularly put them on sale 🫣

Cartier watches far superior to Tag currently. Consider santos or tank, timeless. Patek is a different stratosphere.

@@vannaeldwijk7075 yes! I agree! Discreet and well-made. They follow the Hermès concept, they have a lifetime restoration service so the shoes can be passed down from generation to generation. Nice touch. I’m getting the Mocassins 180 when I visit Paris in March.

I am obsessed with original art, especially when traveling abroad and I try to purchase at least one painting from each country I’m in. While the art I’ve chosen does not always blend cohesively in my home, it is definitely a reflection of the life I’ve lived thus far and a nice reminder of the happiest times in my life. With respect to my 2024 wishlist, there is one bag and one bag only that I am desperate to add to my collection and that is a Messenger bag from Joseph Duclos. I have been thinking about this bag for one year now and I’m going to make it a reality! 💼🤎
