00:00:00 - What's "perfect" in 2022?
00:00:53 - My favorite frame hasn't changed
00:01:18 - Motors: moving away from FPVCycle 25mm
00:03:49 - Updating FC to JBF7 v2
• My new FC is here! JBF... - JBF7 v2 release video
00:04:39 - ESC switches to iFlight Blitz
00:06:10 - A smarter way to run the camera wire?
00:07:19 - Switching to ExpressLRS
00:08:37 - Plugs instead of soldering
00:09:20 - Flights!
Just wanted to take a moment and say how lucky are we to have you Joshua!
You rock!!
I'm totally in agreement with you on your comment. The content he has created over the years has been extremely valuable.

Jashua, Thanks for all you do much appreciated. Love hearing the motors it helps with the visualization. I think that SBANG phased help your flying. Your moves were just on point, locked in, smooth. Wonderful to watch. 😶🙃🙂
Great as always, looking forward to the blind testing and comparison videos!
plugs are great. Years ago I soldered up a plug onto my crossfire micro receiver. Makes repairs easier being able to detach components and I never had an issue with it
Thanks for everything you do JB. Happy Holidays Brother 👊🏻
Enjoyed the video, keep on flying! I moved on to camera drones, but still like watching your stuff. And yes, today I learned something!
Super nice flying! Love you content! Keep it up!
Awesome JB! I can't wait to see the blind motor test you and CiottiFPV did! And those new Bob motors look SICK!
Really enjoyed your flying here. Nice!
At 7:56 - JB! Did you forget about the Ranger Module already? Double that power! :D (That's a joke, btw.)
Love ur content. You rock, Bardwell
Fantastic vid, JB!
Ive been waiting for this video for so long!!!!
My names Adam and I’m going to tell you something.. Nazgûl evoque F5 I’ve crashed it at around 25mph into a brick wall by accident & ZERO damage.
I crashed it into the dirt & it kartwheeled about 30 meters & zero damage.
I’ve owned it 2 years with sooo many crashes & it’s not damaged at all.
All these new frames are just a want & not a need.
BUT yes I have different quads like everyone but the Nazgûl is an EXTREMELY tough frame
Watching your flight footage. Man you've come a long ways from the days when you had that one cool trick you would do at the end of your fence. Legit impressive now! :)
Just bought my jbf7 stack. Its on the way,,,yyeesss!!!!!!!
Glad to see no O3 System, it truly makes you sooo likeable! Nice build!
I’ve been flying FPV since 2015 and I just built the QAV-S JB edition with the xing motors. It hauls! The last 5” I built before this was a blackout 😂.
You may be able to 3d print a little protection for the camera wire and capacitor for your frame
Plus I can relate to being out of breath after risking more than I should have on a good pack and gettin that heart rate up. That hits home.
I really enjoyed your flight, great video
Thanks for the fun fly video. ;)
Hi Josh I too have a QAV-S frame. I thought used the Diatone 2306.5 1700kv. I used a Diatone F722 mk4 flight stack with Diatone 1,000mw vtx. And a Caddx Ratel starlight. I still have crossfire but have been thinking about switching to ELRS. Yes we want to see it fly. It sounds great, Thanks for the video on your updates on your QAV-S.
Awesome flying!! Can tell you have gotten way better in a short amount of time!! This video just reminded me to get better!
Do you recommend the happymodel ELRS combo for people with TX16s’s or to just wait for the radiomaster ranger?
Nice flight 🎉
i like this video,,very expresive in the end of the video,,but also full of information
5:50 just an idea, you can add landing pads to add extra protection at the bottom of the quad.
I have a QAV-S mini that i absolutely loving flying around.
Always great to see you fly and your builds
I'm so excited for my first 5 in build. Got most the parts on the way!
They are awesome
One crazy freestyle. that battery pack was insane !
looks effin great!
I wanna try those motor from fpv cycle. Thanks JB 🤘🏻
03 Air Unit FTW
NICE video! Speaking of ELRS, two of my quads have ELRS receiver and I love them!! I just picked up a BetaFPV Pavo30 that came with a FRsky FCC XM+ receiver and what a disappointment this receiver is feature wise compared the the ELRS receivers. No teli on the FRsky 😮💨I'll probably and up pulling the FRsky receiver out and putting a ELRS receiver in.
Love the commitment at the end 🤣
I mostly like the price of ELRS. The availability is great too.
can you do more build videos, i love them and im sure lots of other people do aswell. Thanks!
Looks like I'm gonna try to copy this build next
Nice flight!
Clean build and nice rip! Only critique would be if your wanting to show off how good something flys, wouldn’t you want stabilization turned off?
Do you prefer the vista over the 03 or was this video just made before the 03?
Brilliant
I bought the blade rush f7 because I wanted the plugs, its soooo easy to work on. Now that you offer this with plugs, I'll defineltly give it a whirl on my next build. If you think about it, solder points create brittle wires. No real aircraft or cars use soldering for connections, they all use crimped plugs. Thats because they have the ability to flex. Good choice mang!
Or the speedybee f7 srack with plugs
Your so wrong mate. Normal aircraft ain’t designed to smash into stuff and still be able to fly away. Good luck with plugs I’ve had far to many come dislodged in a crash and nearly lost drones because of it. Solder is way safer it don’t come unplugged.
@@steviefpv
Yah the Plugs also get rip off the board as well.
They may be easy to connect an looks clean. I wouldn't use all plugs on a 5inch setup.
@@steviefpv You're entitled to your opinion and whatever works for you, great. For me, 11 years of building and flying, plus industry standards are what I go by. Not to mention it's much easier to deal with plugs when working on things.
Try 5.2 in props on it my go to has been this frame with the fpv cycle motors and 5.2 in props I still love it
Great show! #stayepic
Freaking sweet!
Yes please do a blind test of the fpvcycle motors
It has a great sounding tune on it. Might just have to update mine as well.
This is basically stock BF 4.3. I haven't even tuned it yet.
Wow. It has a really clean sound.
@@michaaelball247 i was thinking the same thing, “How is this the first pack if he’s already tuned it?” Amazing.
No O3 on this one? Nice build, I'm currently running similar motors and esc on my latest. The flying is fantastic!
I think this was filmed before the o3 was released
He doesn’t have enough Patreon’s yet.
I think it's because the Qavs JB edition doesn't fit the 03 camera.
@@ninmarioscc I think a bit of 3d printing fiddling would remedy that mount. Nice content...
@@AdrianoCasemiro yes but remember it gotta come from lumenier the Qavs frame maker unless it’s something that is available at the time it wouldn’t make sense to promote in this video. I love Qavs jb frame have two quads on it but I had to use a different frame for my 03 build. I’m waiting on lumenier to have frames that fit the O3 unit.
You become a really good flyer was,t looking at least one year, but hats off!
I'd just do a cool 3d print for the bottom to cover the compositor but I only run fettec or kiss stuff. I do love the esc bored though hpw the motor contacts are to the corners that's awesome
Weight to Volume is probably the metric we should be chasing for motors.
i can imagine some weird company making a motor with a hollow stator just to look like it has more volume for less weight.
motors are plenty powerful, and plenty light, durability matters more.
It’s called power to weight.
I see a good decision to go with the plugs and using elrs.
Not sure if its you or the drone but the flying was balls!
Another Joshua Bardwell DIY kit coming up? V3??? Sweet!
How do you handle the cold climate with your batteries when out in the field?
You can tell right off the bat from the video that this build really flys smooth and nice.
I’d like to buy the JB digital kit but I’d rather have the updated items mentioned included
I realy love your content.❤But need to say that gopro mount is no good. you need to protect the side frome the lens!! and thicker arms would be nice... they break much faster than apex for exaple....
Missed the stream tonight!!
Ever hit those electric lines? Nice video!
I'm researching for an 8s build. That could be another build video you could do.
The sound of those motors man...
man I hate Iflight electronics but I gotta say that those esc pads are genius
i'm suprised you didn't put the 03 air unit on thier to save on weight
that’s a cool dog tshirt u got
You can definitely notice some sbangy features…🔥
I seem to remember you did a video recently don't know anything of what it was about but do remember that u used an 4in1 esc because it was a good reasonable prince. I think I got the same which what I thought based on the brand u said or I recognized. Anyway it is a HAKRC 45A w/blheli16 which u then proceeded to put on the bluejay to get the bi-dir firmware. Well I got the above esc and can't even load it in blheli16 to get esc fw type, all buttons are dimmed at bottom and no 4in1 multiple indication, just is not reading anything, it is an unknown esc so I can't even tell bluejay what to flash, help! Everything is ok and cked out motors setup and running properly.
Nevermind, BLheli can't read this 4in1 but Bluejay can. Flashed Bluejay done, RPM filer on and working. Sorry to bug you.
Hi Joshua, are you going to test betaflight 4.4 return to home and landing?
There has to be a better way to position that video cable. That won't last long.
@JB :) great video as always! You rock 🎸 question for you as I have not currently built a FPV from scratch and want to - will you be updating this for the O3? I looked and currently it still references the older components online, so was curious if there will be an option coming w/O3? Thx again!
We are updating the frame for the O3 then I'll update.
@@JoshuaBardwell then I'll buy and "I'm going to learn something!" :)
Very nice video. I'd be really interested in the difference in range between an ELRS EP1 (with external antenna) and an EP2 (with internal ceramic antenna) receiver. Will the link quality of the EP2 ever bottleneck the system and be "weaker" than a video signal?
The short answer is if you're using 150 Hz or lower, and especially if tour controller goes to 1w, the ceramic antenna is probably ok.
It appears to be 20db. The guy that makes the long range tests on youtube tested it and it appears to be a huge difference. The EP2 was doing less than 5km and the EP1 was doing 30+km. But if you're not doing long range, it probably won't matter to you
Nice one pack rip JB 👍🏽😎
Nice flying JB! I see your SBANG challenge has influenced your style, even saw a little rewind in there! 🔥👍
Nice build! Thanks to your innumerable videos and Liftoff, that hole in the fence is an iconic historical FPV landmark. It can never be repaired.
If I’m adding this up right, that’s about $500 for everything except the battery and GoPro+mount? If you think about it, that’s a pretty good value proposition compared to the high end BNFs and the DJI FPV/Avata/Mini Pro 3/Air 2, which I would consider competition to your build considering you’ve gone basically solderless and the level of performance that your build offers is so freakin’ high.
Please review BETAFPV Cetus Pro!!!
yep ) sensor lost - even with TBS happened. and also - one meter distance
0:05:05 If you turn the iFlight ESC upside down so the cap is pointing up does the FC still fit? That would make a better way to fit it.
Why didn’t you use the new o3 air unit?
Josh - any merit for the 25mm motors performing better than 2207’s or 2306’s with a payload or carrying more weight if a five inch freestyle where to be used in such a manner for “professional” use?
The theory here is that the heavier quad will load the prop more, making it less responsive, and demanding more torque from the motor. But bench tests already load the prop pretty heavily, because the thrust stand isn't moving through the air, so the prop cannot unload like it does in flight. Generally we see motors being more responsive and drawing less current in real life compared to the bench. So if the bench test concludes that a 2207 motor has enough thrust for a 5" prop, I think that result is likely to hold up in real life. If you've got a heavier quad and want better flight characteristics, the best advice is to use larger props. Then a larger motor might also make sense.
Joshua, but you show 3 diferent motors , and only fly one motor set, what about the other 2 motor sets ??
Why didn’t you use the O3 Airunit?
Ok it flies amazing, but how does it crash 🤔
missed the important stuff to me, (1) esc setup like motor timings, etc, (2) betaflight tune, (3) receiver parameters like any deadbands, delays in bf4.3, (4) what beta flight version you use, (5) props, things like this I would like to see , thanks
Rates, what camera lol , keep going?
Bahahaha! Shouldn't have opened your big mouth there at the end 🤣
I flew 3 of your frames as my only rig for 3 months straight, they fly possibly the best of any but I broke so many arm and corner tabs on the back plate off. But I go hard on concrete and steel. You should make a bando edition or something.
hey Bardwell, i recently knocked the capacitor off my quad, is it important to get a new one to solder back on? thanks
I would, it's there to prevent interference from the batteries effecting the electronics. fpv google feed etc
Why don't you use the o3 air unit?
And yes i used the link
What motors r on the quad in the freestyle
Hey Joshua, what are the connectors on your FC called exactly? They are the standard connectors, like TBS uses, right? I can't seem to find the exact name to look up spares...
Jst sh 1.0mm pitch
@@JoshuaBardwell Amazing! You're the man! Thanks :-)))
Hi, are those type of cpacitor, low esr?
The video end is foreshadowing a video about the telemetry ELRS 3.0 bug lol
Is there a bug with telemetry in 3.0?
Do the new FC and esc come on your build kit now, or still the old?
This isn't my "beginner build kit" at GetFPV. It's my "perfect freestyle build".
@@JoshuaBardwell oh damn! Yea, realized that after I went to go compare. You should see about doing a build kit like this. Not necessarily a budget kit.
Would you buy a express radio or would you buy a 4 in 1 and add the radio master express module?
4in1 one was really only good for tiny whoops, but now so many are coming with ELRS on them it's hard to see a point to anything else. This is coming from a crossfire guy too.
@@overtorquednut I appreciate the advice!
Well... I guess we're staying with the O2 system? 😬
Really interesting, Joshua! And I do like plugs, they've never let me down.
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Could we get a video on the best electronics durability wise and price difference! What’s the best bang for your buck or made the best idk just an idea if you see this comment
Would be a cool video to point people in the right direction so there not buying cheap electronics that are gonna catch fire first crash
That's the purpose of my website www.fpvknowitall.com
Like how you explained why you kept the frame, reasoning behind motor choices, why you updated the FC, why you changed the esc and why you are using the elrs but nothing on why you are using DJI vista and just skipped past any reasoning why this choice.
Would of thought "other" competitors would have been in your perfect build or is it that other vtx companies don't get a mention as none of them are worthy of old DJI technology by comparison?
Good fling about though
I don't really understand what you mean by, "none of them are worthy of old DJI technology". Are you asking why I haven't switched from DJI to one of the other options for my personal build?
To me, DJI offers great range and penetration, excellent image quality, fantastic durability of hardware, and size and weight that work well for my build. Walksnail comes close in terms of image quality, range, and penetration, but not quite as good. Walksnail hardware is also less rugged than DJI. HDZero is better in terms of latency, but much worse in terms of range and penetration, and I value range and penetration more.
Also, I still have like six unopened Vistas so I might as well use them :-)
@@JoshuaBardwell Thnx JB 👍, so DJI all the way and feasibly the new 03 unit for an even more perfect build.
And yes, I remember the video and took your advice also re: vistas so bought 18 of them 🙃
Another fine build showing some cheeks out there..... Good times
You’re not concerned about the vista heat dissipation to your rx?
No, not at all.
@@JoshuaBardwell can you teach me something today and help me understand why not?
