- In this video, we share our story of why we moved to the Scottish Highlands, one of the most beautiful and sparsely populated regions in the UK. We reveal the four main reasons that motivated us to leave English Country life behind and embrace the wild and wonderful nature of the Highlands.
If you are curious about the Highlands, or if you are thinking of moving there yourself, this video will give you some insights and inspiration.
Some of the topics we cover in this video are:
The benefits of living in a less populated area, such as less traffic, less pollution, less stress, and more peace and quiet.
The amazing wildlife and nature that surrounds us, from the majestic mountains and lochs, to the diverse flora and fauna, to the stunning aurora borealis.
The weather in the Highlands, which is often unpredictable, but also offers some of the most dramatic and beautiful scenery in the world.
The culture and history of the Highlands, which is rich and fascinating, and influenced by the Gaelic language and traditions.
We hope you enjoy this video and find it informative and entertaining. Please give it a thumbs up if you do, and don’t forget to subscribe to our channel for more videos about our life in the Scottish Highlands. Thank you for watching!

Hey! thanks for the information. My boyfriend and I are interested in moving to scotland and especially the highlands.
Can you tell me if is easy find job for latin people and how much is a flat or house rent? Thanks!
@camilatejada5197 I would assume it’s the same for Latin people finding a job as it would be English and Scottish or any other nationality. It can be hard but it also isn’t always. Really depends on the sector of work people are looking for I’d say and where abouts in the Highlands as it’s a huge area.
Flat and house rent will differ hugely on the area of the highlands you are looking. I’d suggest researching on estate agents websites etc for rent prices so you can get a feel for prices in different areas of the Highlands. Good luck ❤️
The scenery with the deer/wildlife was beautiful. Staying closer to nature is relaxing. I have always like that about areas like that.
Yes we are very luckily with the beautiful wildlife and nature here!
Nice to know all this review about the place & telling us all. Stay safe . God bless
It’s a special place that’s for sure! Thanks for watching 🙏❤️
Nice listening to you and your story . Blessings ❤
Thank you 🙏 your words and blessings are appreciated ❤️
I always imagine that the Scottish highlands are very romantic! I think you have made a very good choice to move there because it's far from the toxicity of the urban lifestyle. People are wrong to think that only cities can be sustainable because nature has more to offer! ❤
They definitely can be, but it also can be for those who work the land like crofters, it can be a very hard life. We love being so far away from urban lifestyle it’s never been anything we have craved. Although don’t mind the odd city break now and again to experience something new. But thankful to always come back to our quiet peace of paradise xx
My wife and I moved to Skye from Leicestershire over 4 years ago, for many similar reasons. Our children are grown up and have moved away so it was our time. The best thing we have ever done. I fall in love with the island every day.
Aww wow! That’s amazing. We love Skye and visit often and funny enough my husband is there currently. Skye is a very special place for sure. I bet you still pinch yourself every day even after 4 years. We do still after 2!
@@thehighlandlife2023 yes we do. I cant quite believe we live here, particularly during the tourist off season. I love your channel and have subbed.
@@andykeeble1 aw lovely to hear others finding joy in the beauty of where they live. And thank you 🙏 glad you’re enjoying the videos, lots more to come!
So good to hear your reasons for moving and why you love it there. Looks like a beautiful place!
It really is! Like a dream come true x
Sounds like you love it there. Looks like such a beautiful place, I hope to visit Scotland one day.
We do! It’s such a wonderful place to be. X
Oh how we miss living in Scotland 😍 Even though we live in Cyprus now, one day we will return! New subscriber ❤
Oh wow! Quite a move? How long ago did you move from Scotland? Xx
@@thehighlandlife2023 We left Scotland in March '23 and have been living in Cyprus since. We're hoping to come back to Scotland about 2025'ish x
@TheSimplyLivingFamily oh wow. Hoping to be back for a visit? Or for good? Xx
I can really understand somebody would move away from the midlands. Good luck
🤣 Yes! And thank you. Loving remote life so far 😍
I’m jealous😂
🫶 Feel lucky to live the life we do for sure
Looks like your in Caithness - my late father in law's family were from there. It is lovely but there are drawbacks in terms of cost of living - often higher - and less amenities. Hilarious to hear you moved there for the weather but I guess the Midlands is pretty rainy! They really need people to move to these underpopulated areas but I hope you do actually integrate into and support the community e.g. sending your children to the local schools.
I have to say I haven’t noticed our cost of living being more, our standard of living has hugely improved since our move. We have been pleasantly surprised at home much there is here but I guess it depends on what things people want from where you live.
A lot of people laugh at the fact I love the weather here 🤣
We do get involved in our local community, in fact we are off to a ceilidh on Friday at our community hall! We have always home educated but other than not populating the schools, however none around us are struggling for numbers. But we shop local, and feel heavily integrated and so very welcomed ❤️
@@thehighlandlife2023 These days, homeschooling makes more sense everywhere in the world. Good on ya for doing that, it's a lot of work but can be very rewarding.
Thank you 🙏 hard work sometimes but hugely rewarding for sure ❤️
Just a thought….how about keeping quiet about this precious area, you might want to keep it crowd free!!
Way too late for that! The Highlands is hugely popular and known by many and can get busy in the summer months. Responsible Visitors are welcomed in the main, it’s not my place to gate keep. After all the Highlands isn’t mine to keep x
Just found your channel
How do you make a living?
Aw hi and welcome ❤️
I do not work outside of the home as the children are my full time job but my husband found a job locally X
That cleavage could support wildlife!
It doesn’t look like there are any; but any downs or cons to living there? Xx
There are actually 😬 Am currently filming a video about a couple of those cons of living up here so should be out in the next few weeks xx
Probably would be better to have a basic script or notes to prompt you.
Too many ums n rs
Thank you for your comment, I appreciate your thoughts. Something I will look into 🙏
I do feel my videos and the um and arring has improved over my videos since this one, let me know if you agree?
I have since this video used scripts or notes and I feel that’s helped improved the quality of my videos. Be interested in your thoughts on my latest video x
Iv heard the weather can be pretty rubbish
Ha ha yeah for sure it can be sometimes! But it can be in many Countries.
