- A model's POV of what it's like going to castings and walking shows during Milan Fashion Week S/S22 ~
I wasn't planning on doing shows (as usual), then I suddenly got requested last minute so I flew to Milan and brought my camera with me!
I may or may not have accepted these jobs purely for the youtube content heh
This time I wasn't nearly as busy as the last time I did MFW (S/S17 where I was at least 3-4x more busy lol), but nonetheless I thought it might be interesting for others to see how castings/shows work in this city. I came specifically as a request, but most other models would have arrived in Milan a few days earlier for castings.
Thanks to Heejung ( / hello_kijeong ) for putting up with my annoyance because she was my only friend this time 🥰
If you see any car number plates/random people that aren't blurred, please comment let me know so I can cover them! I spent a while trying to make sure I got everything, but I probably missed some here and there. Anonymity is important!

Fernanda, I heard a tip once: When finding your uber/driver, ask the driver "who are you here for/picking up?", this way you can make sure to get your driver and not end up in some creeps car who was waiting outside a show or whatever to pick up a pretty young successful woman to.. well, be nasty to.
I watch too much true crime shows *but* this is a very easy thing to chance and be more safe

wow im so shocked at the used bodysuits?? you would think especially during covid there would've have been better measurements to ensure cleanliness. I always knew runway models are treated badly, but that's just ridiculous. thank you so much for the vlog!! you're amazing and work so hard!!!

They're more worried that people will post/leak stuff before everything goes live! I've heard of models being cancelled from shows for posting stories while in line up (the waiting in line right before a show begins), but if they're really serious about it, they'll ask you to sign a waiver/nda of some sort.

This is so nice! I always wanted to see what models do during casting and happy to see it from you. My friends were pushing me to do castings way back but I was socially awkward and didn't know how to interact with strangers. I'm glad to have watched this and please continue to do more casting content. It's so pleasing to watch but tyring at the same time because I had to rewind and pause to read the texts haha but nothing wrong with it I enjoyed every clip! If may I ask, do you still have time to go around the city after casting? Also, looking forward for Butter and Fern content!! Take care and please be well! 😊

Runway clothes are always samples so it's pretty normal for things to go wrong! All the issues are usually fixed by the time it goes into production 😊
Shoe wise, I have a conspiracy that the shoe designers haven't actually worn heels before so they don't understand the anatomy of the foot and our struggle lol

i know it happens and it’s not anyone’s fault sometimes but it’s oddly often that these huge luxury brands have fit defects and then wait until the show day and the model to walk in them 🙄 like ur really gonna go buy glue when u had months probably to prepare for the show…

hehehe youre so sweet! curious as to what u use to blur peoples faces out! >.
I use gaussian blur (I use premiere pro to edit) to mask out things and track them frame by frame to ensure the subject is fully covered. There's alao an option to do it automatically, but it doesn't always work 🤔
So do models talk and stuff? Is there drama? It seems like everyone is focused and in their own little worlds. Do you guys get drinks after or just go to hotel and sleep?
it's quite obvious no one gives a damn about anyone... They are all probably just Hi-Bye friends I guess...
A lot of the models that do shows now are on the younger side so idk what to say to them 😅
I feel like a lot of them do hang out or party afterwards, but they're like 10 years younger than me and I don't have that kind of energy anymore.
Back when my friends were still doing shows, we'd grab coffee/dinner together if our schedules aligned, but someone would always get called out for a fitting/casting. Though now most of my friends have either gone back to their own country or retired from modelling so I just head back and play games alone lol
