In this video, I take an afternoon walk at Legi Market, Solo. To see the new building of Pasar Legi which had previously been on fire. This video was taken on Monday, February 28, 2022. Around 17.00 WIB.

The Story of Legi Solo Market Traders Who Started Occupying a New Building
Ahead of the inauguration of Pasar Legi on Thursday (20/1), the activity in the new market building located on Jalan Letjen S. Parman, Surakarta City is starting to get busy. The traders who had been occupying the makeshift market behind the new building were given a time limit until Monday (17/1) to occupy their stalls.
The new Pasar Legi building consists of 3 floors with 306 kiosks, 2,190 stalls and 250 stalls for courtyard traders. The building, which was built with a budget of Rp. 104 billion from the state budget, does look big and spacious, but the traders have a different story.
"There are still no buyers here, last Sunday I only got Rp. 9,000," said one vegetable trader, Parni in a written statement, Wednesday (1/19/2022).
Lonely buyers are actually common in market relocation. Usually this condition will slowly improve. However, for traders like Parni and hundreds of other traders who depend on their daily income in the market, the income in one day is certainly very meaningful.
However, not all traders experience problems with this new market building. A butcher Yeni actually told a positive story after moving to the new building of Pasar Legi.
"The position of the kiosk is quite strategic. The good thing is that the building is nice and orderly. In the past, if you moved to an emergency market, you didn't have buyers right away. Here, you move to a new market, there will be buyers," said Yeni.
The problem that was told by the traders at Legi Market about this new building has also received a response from the Solo City Government. The Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, has even conveyed his response directly to the traders.
"I suggest you take advantage of the available ramps," said Gibran.
The ramp that Gibran meant is a sloping path that connects between floors intended for people with disabilities and the elderly. However, new problems are expected to arise when the ramp is used by porters, so people with disabilities and the elderly will be marginalized. Not to mention the condition of the ramp which is wet and slippery due to the pouring rain.
Then, based on the re-measurement of the staircase construction, it shows that the width of the stairs (queue) of 30 cm and the height of the steps (optrade) of 18 cm are still within the normal range.
Challenges and the need to make adjustments by various parties are actually common in the process of moving or relocating. Currently, the new traders, porters and customers of Pasar Legi are still waiting for easy access to the new, magnificent and spacious building.
For information, Legi Market previously caught fire at the end of 2018, around 250 stalls were engulfed in flames. Then the construction of a new market building has been carried out since November 2021. This building has also been handed over from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) to the Solo City Government last November 2021.
