Funny you say that because first boat with yahamas and have had nothing but problems with both engines on the same boat and had lots of mercury outboards over the years and they have never let me down
@@Element-cw3xy people get bad engines, you can’t prevent it. Some engines are just made bad in the factory on accident. Like for example, I have had 2 Suzuki 90s. One ran great, the other ran bad. They were the same model engine. Some are just made rotten lemons.
@@Element-cw3xy Mercurys have a horrible reliability reputation. Like it or not, Mercury is made for speed and speed only. They have always been in the go-fast business. Yamaha on the other hand has always focused on reliability and they did it. My family has owned over 10 Yamahas and they have never left them stranded. We can’t say that about Mercury though!
The yamaha is a 4.2 L v6. Their 350 v8 is a piece of shit but their 300 is the best motor out there, so much thieves steal them off the back of boats while they're on the boat lift behind someone's house.
What was the top speed? Seeing 53 on my 239 with a 300
Just a note for anyone trying to do a top speed video. Don't have a passenger sitting in the bow of the boat. You want everyone in the back.
What props were you using respectively?
Mercury used a Merc Eco Enertia 19P Yamaha used saltwater series 19P
Both are great motors but if I had to buy today It would be the Merc 300hp Pro XS
cool
Having the passenger riding on the bow of the Yamaha-powered boat probably cost 2 mph vs if they sat on the rear bench
Mercury will get you there faster, but Yamaha will get you there and back.

True!
@@Element-cw3xy I doubt that. You probably just mistreated the engines.

Bruh that 300 beat u off the launch u just have better top speed
I would’ve guess the opposite.....
Doesn't matter, yamaha is the king of reliability
didn't see the yamaha trim up so....
Yamaha was trimmed up
Excuses
We need to see 350 Yamaha vs 350 Mercury and not 300 Yamaha vs 350 Mercury… 😊
Key West will not rate the boat for 350 Yamaha as they were too heavy.
@@Bwkgrouper Ok, thank you
Alright where the Evinrude Etec?
in the shop
We did one on a 300 e tech vs a 250 Yamaha
Lol
Out of business!
OUT OF BUSINESS
pro xs 300 would beat both
First off lol that 300 did good now race the 350 yami man get smoked
Yamaha got beat and was a smaller boat.
V8 vs supercharged I6. V8 wins in holeshot because it has more torque. HP= speed that’s why the Yamaha can’t hang

I see no difference here, too small to be significant
2 stokes have more torque I would get a evinrude plus they have a good warranty
Not anymore!!LOL
Evinrude is out of production again.
@@melrose9252 little late on that one
Aged like milk
Mercury has a faster top end, Yamaha dominates the low end
All in the driver too. Load. In the boat. Fuel capacity. If ther full or half full etc. And prop. No ones dominating here

Mercury is way better
Right on!
Proves nothing.
Boats, props, and overall weight could all be completely different. This was a waste of a minute and 9 seconds of my life.
