After all, the Savoy was where the great Chick Webb held court, and he wasn't going to have the place degrade itself for anyone. And of course, a big difference between the Lindy Hop and the kind of dancing going on at somewhere like the Cotton Club is that white kids wanted to be able to Lindy Hop themselves. There was a resurgence in Swing dance in the late 1990's ... and there are still places/clubs you can find it. Sorry your generation knows so little ...but you can be a catalyst and get them interested - such great music/dance will and should live forever.
