- Welcome to my channel, or if you are a regular supporter of my channel, then welcome back! This week we are having a look at #line&wash or #ink and #watercolor.
So as usual I want a nice and very simple watercolor scene, so starting with a Chinese bamboo dipping pen I sketch out very loosely and I mean very loosely over my cold pressed paper to give me those nice and dark contrasting lines and shapes. Once you get these ink marks down and things dry (very important) it's time to apply the washes of pigment!! These ink and wash paintings always remind me of illustrations from a children's book, so I find them super fun to do and so rewarding. Then you can also get a whole range of different colours and in different brands. Well why not give this or something similar a go. Happy painting everyone and hope your Easter holiday has been wonderful 😉

Thankyou Simon, or is it Simone? Glad you liked it my friend 👍
Let me know how you get on?
I love your muted colours how did you make that soft green. I have a lot of trouble with greens😢
Thankyou really appreciate it, the green was probably yellow ochre and French ultramarine blue!
Whenever I use ink it tends to run when applying the watercolour stage, any tips?
The ink must be dry fully before adding the watercolours, maybe a hairdryer if you don't want to wait 👍
Let me know how it goes?
