I would love to work as a train driver one day. ive sent my application today. Ive been knocked back from other companies hope northern give me the opportunity to fulfill my dream job.🙏
The railway is a passion of mine, My dad who is sadly no longer with us worked on the railway all his life as a brickie maintaining etc.. here in the northwest, I would love to become a train driver, been in my head for a long while, I just need to bring myself to make the step and apply, I'm an electronics engineer at the moment but the railway is a massive passion of mine and would love to be a part of it, when i get on a train i become quite emotional, the sound of the railway is so nostalgic to me and reminds me of my childhood as my dad would always take me out for the day in the school holidays on the train to blackpool north from here in bolton on the good old sprinter trains, sometimes the bone shaking pacer lol, but Northern if you read my comment I would love a chance at becomming an apprentice trainee driver, to me it would be a dream come true, I've always known there is something missing in my life for a long while and it is the railway, it may sound OTT but i would love the chance and the challenge, a real passion.
Hi there. All our new units are now in operation on routes across the network. We don't have confirmation of any further new trains at this stage I'm afraid. ^DS

Hi Aaron. Unfortunately the social media team cannot help with specific careers queries. If you email enquiries@northernrailway.co.uk they may be able to help you 😀 ^KW
Usually around 19k while training, then maybe 80% full salary for six months and then 100% after that. GBRailfreight pay about £60k basic for a 34.5 hr week

So I want to work for northen when I’m bored Older I’m 14 now so you think I should go for a guard first or just go straight to driving I really want to drive the class 331
guard first or platform more likely to get internal vacacny or something and they will know you are reliable as it is expensive to train someone up so cannot take gambles.
I was a train driver I'm glad I left no longer the job it used to be I had to do 5 years second man training then 6 months in traction school wasn't easy but in them days it as a great and well respected job ....and you actually had to drive now all you do is move levers
Its a concern, not imminent but maybe for the long term. Its like anything else these days, choosing a career that is stable and secure until retirement. Not easy task.

I’m 32 and still dreaming to become a train driver since my childhood, am I too old to apply?
Never too old
they do heath medical checks every two years untill ur like 55 i think, after that its every single year. so theres no concern there at ur age
No, but if you're a straight white male, your chances of landing a job with this company is slim, they want minorities
Do you have to be very good at maths to be a driver?
Nevermind wages.....id pay Northern to let me train and do this job.
