The railway is a passion of mine, My dad who is sadly no longer with us worked on the railway all his life as a brickie maintaining etc.. here in the northwest, I would love to become a train driver, been in my head for a long while, I just need to bring myself to make the step and apply, I'm an electronics engineer at the moment but the railway is a massive passion of mine and would love to be a part of it, when i get on a train i become quite emotional, the sound of the railway is so nostalgic to me and reminds me of my childhood as my dad would always take me out for the day in the school holidays on the train to blackpool north from here in bolton on the good old sprinter trains, sometimes the bone shaking pacer lol, but Northern if you read my comment I would love a chance at becomming an apprentice trainee driver, to me it would be a dream come true, I've always known there is something missing in my life for a long while and it is the railway, it may sound OTT but i would love the chance and the challenge, a real passion.

What is all this "apprentice" BS?
A proper apprenticeship gives you a skill and a trade and ways to earn money that lasts a lifetime. Stop driving trains for 2 years and you're no longer a train driver, or lose the job for whatever reason and that's it.
It's also possibly the most boring job in the world.

This role is a great opportunity to gain experience on the railway that can be used when applying for many roles, driving may not be for you but it could help you discover what is! ^VR
