Ixtapa & Zihuatanejo: Two Mexican Beach Paradises

  • Mexico has so much coastline, it is no wonder it is world famous for its beaches. But I didn't realize how charming some of these beach towns could be until I traveled there this past March. I took my mom, whom had never been to Mexico, and she and I explored the sleepy streets of the fishing village of Zihuatanejo (or Zihua). We shopped for shoes in little markets, ate lunch at a vegan cafe, strolled along the dock for a majestic view of the harbor and dined at mezcal focused restaurant along the beach walk. We even ate a torchlit dinner on the sand at Viceroy Zihuatanejo and took a sunset cruise to admire the Pacific waters and stunning coastline.
    But we stayed in Ixtapa, at the breathtaking Capella Resort Ixtapa, where we could admire the ocean from our private infinity pool, the terrace bar, their open air restaurants or even from our luxurious bed. We also took a boat to Isla Ixtapa for snorkeling and beachtime. There's so much more to say about these amazing Mexican paradises but watch the video and then just GO.

    it doesn't get better than being on a boat off a Mexican coast on a sunny day, drinking some Mexican beer

    I went there early this year; been looking for a place to retire. I stepped off the plane, and my first thought was "this is home". Bought a house on the beach, and by middle of next year, my Zihua Chill will be permanent!

    I traveled there in the mid 90s. Out of all the place I travel in Mexico, Zihuatanejo was my favorite. Awesome fresh food, friendly people. Ixtapa was so laid back despite being modern hotel city. Only cars on the street back then where rented golf carts to get around almost no traffic. Hope to revisit the area soon.

    I've been to Mexico before and love it, however I've never been to this area and am trying to plan my next vacation here. What month did you travel and with limited Spanish is it fairly easy to navigate???

    • @KelleyFerro
      @KelleyFerro  Před 6 lety

      I traveled at the end of Feb--actually exactly around this time! I do not speak Spanish at all and found it totally fine to navigate, though we did have a driver help out for some of our longer excursions (like to Isla Ixtapa). I think you can do it!

      I live in Mexico and I recomend you visit Ixtapa right after the "Semana Santa" holiday or the summer vacation so that you have a more lay back experience. If lots of people isnt a problem for you, then visit when its 15 of September. You will have an amazing time celebrating the "Independence day" with the locals.

    • @franklihuinac
      @franklihuinac Před 5 lety

      @@ANBUdoberman how crowded does it get & what's the weather like around july?

    • @ANBUdoberman
      @ANBUdoberman Před 5 lety +1

      @@franklihuinac its pretty warm and humid but in a very nice way for me. There will be some people arround but it aint nothing to be worried about. The true crowd comes in Easter and December. If you are planning on going in extra trips Over there, better take the ones your hotel have. Lots of locales outside your hotel and in the beach will try to sell a visit to the "island of ixtapa". Its a beautiful place but go with the hotel trip so that everything is secure for you and your family.

    Very nice. I've never been to Mexico and am quite surprised that it looks so nice. I wonder why the people of Mexico try to flood into the U.S. when they seem to have quite a paradise there. Of course, I know that all of Mexico isn't a paradise. Nice place to visit; but not sure I would want to live there :) The cost of living must be really good there.

    • @KelleyFerro
      @KelleyFerro  Před 7 lety +3

      You should try it out! It is quite amazing. The cost of living is much different than here. Great for a vacation!
