- čas přidán 27. 07. 2017
- Amtrak Cascades trains travel between several major cities in the Pacific Northwest. They travel as far south as Eugene, Oregon and as far north as Vancouver, British Columbia. Come along for the ride as we travel along almost the entire line to see these trains in action. All aboard!

Wow man, what a beautiful video. I rode this train in June 2017, from Vancouver, BC, to Portland, OR. Nice memories.
I love Amtrak Cascades. I really loved the Pre Pandemic train route that would go to Portland to B.C. Canada or vice versa. It was the most convenient route. These trains are awesome.
I always have loved the Amtrak Cascades, and I hope to ride the service sometime in the future.
The State of Washington has bought 8 of the Siemens Charger locomotives for the Cascades trains, they should be in service pretty soon, they had the introduction back in May. The first two were going on the Eugene Seattle run.
What they should do is paint some of the P42s in the cascade paint scheme. That would be cool!!!
5:39 I'm positive we can all agree that this is the K5LA the Surfliner F59s should have.
Yes!
Average_ Joe You're right, no doubt.
Yes!
The Surfliner had F59PHI #465 before it went to the Cascades
Average_ Joe agree
The horns on the F59PHI’s always sounded so amazing. I’ll miss those locomotives so much
I love the cascades trains! I've never been on one but they look so cool! Love ur videos!
Thank you very much!
Wow those are cool looking units and coaches
They are made by Talgo: czcams.com/video/2jx6il060fY/video.html
When you realize you were in the exact spot as CoasterFan just a few days before he was there
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I had that happen with the UTA front runner, he viewed it from a road overpass I go on almost every week.
Omg my comment got favorited by my favorite railfan my life is fucking complete now I can have a child I've done everything in life I needed to! -except catch Amtrak 90250
The Weather Man lol

Nice view of mount rainier in the first video. And I kinda miss the Pacific NorthWest its so green and lush
Thanks! It is a beautiful place.
I am a Lead Steward for Amtrak and you captured my run! Thank you
i don't care that they don go 400km/h, these trains are absolutely beautiful. we don't see trains of this kind of design/size in europe...
I have to agree with you man. It is not an obligation that every train be a high speed train. Here in Brazil I would love if we had passenger trains like these amtrak's. Not even trains like these we have. Only Vale's trains. But Just too few for a so big country.
I used to take this train from Bellingham to Longview. What a great ride.
At 6:31 why is that F59PHI unit pulling the side of the talgo train set that has the locomotive attached to it?
Nicholas Johnson that’s a cab car. The other end normally powers it but it must have died.
Amtrak Cascades is amazing!
Nice. Thanks a lot !
Those F59PHI engines have been a great success, including those NPCUs. By the way, my favorite NPCU is 90253, and my favorite F59PHI is 470.
I love these Fins on the First Car.
👿
Beautiful shots.
Miss riding the Cascades
I like both: TriMet MAX & Amtrak Cascades.
Nice job! You sure found all the best locations.
Thank you very much!
Yard Limit ...llll
Excellent video.
I miss riding the Cascades
Great video! Next time you come up to the Northwest, I highly recommend going to Kalama, Washington. In Kalama, there is a park with a long straight track and BNSF recently added a new track making it a triple main line! Just look up Ahle Point on Google Maps.
Thank you! One of these shots was actually just south of Kalama. I'll have to check out that park next time too!
There's a new commuter rail line in the north san francisco bay area that you should make a video on.
THE SEAHAWKS ENGINE and awesome video ❤️
Nice talgo trains!
Sweet video on Trains.
+CoasterFan2105 Nice Video!!! I love the K5LA horns on the F59PHIs, NPCUs, and the P42DCs on Cascades yes and I hope you haven't forgotten the Train Talk episode I suggested on the F59 which you said would be coming this fall and I'm just making sure and I found out that many of the Amtrak F59s are staying longer and Metrolink has actually begun retiring older locomotives so yeah and I also really like the Seahawks NPCU with that nice K5LA.... (:
Thank you! The F59 train talk is coming! :)
Fantastic!!!! :) (:
Do you know why most of the original Talgo 8 cab cars are replaced by 59 and 42s?
If Amtrak made services 518/519 Cascades they should be put between Eugene and Vancouver, this doesnt overlap the next present day route, the 521 which is Capitol Corridor
Correct that last bit btw, 520 also exists as a Capitol Corridor
Man, I need to get out of the Bronx and visit Washington state.
Thank you for this video!! 👍👍👍
Awesome Video Mike
Is 90230 ever used on the Surfline anymore? Or is it now just for cascades?
It was moved back to Cascades in 2017.
Oh, imma miss her
I love Amtrak On Talgo. Anyway Nice video
Thanks, Ethan!
@@CoasterFan2105 qpqq
3:52 Love that!
Nice video! Btw, can you do a train talk video about the eastern long distance amtraks and the P42DC's and other Genesis models? Also, when will Amtrak 465's overhaul be complete and ready to go back in service?
Zack and Zane You watch every train youtuber I watch
Thank you! I'd like to do a Train Talk on the eastern long distance trains at some point. I'm not sure about 465.
Zack and Zane They don't usually keep the 59s out for too long, so it'll be back pretty soon. I'd say under a month.
Drizzler 02 We don't like space invaders (P42s) on our trains
1:13 is there only one of the new Talgo sets in Cascades livery?
2:02 90250 has a nice paint scheme!
3:07 why is a locomotive in front of the Talgo cab car? did the cab car break?
9:04 the barrier photobombed the train!
1. I think there's two new trainsets. 2. Yes it does! 3. Probably. 4. Haha, it sure did!
They have 2 of the new cascades Talgos. Thanks!
Do the Empire Builder, Amtrak’s Empire Builder is the toughest Amtrak Overnight passenger train.
Did it from Portland to Chicago last December We traveled with a blizzard.....It was very cold.very.
the only amtrak train i been on as i live in melbourne but went to vancouver in sep 2019. rode from vancouver to seattle
Nice video!!
Thanks!
High speed train.
I assume this video was made before the SC-44's were built
nice train and beautifull track...
One of the cars in the consist @ 4:11, has 4 window that are elevated. Is this a lounge/diner car? Great video, thanks for providing!
D MCCARVILLE yes, in Spain it is soo
We're gonna miss the F59's on these trains
Nice! Thank you Mike!
Thank you too! Glad you like it!
You're welcome!
When will the chargers be expected in service on the Cascades? Do you know?
I am not sure. They were supposed to start in late June or July but for some reason, that didn't happen.
Oh, okay. I'm glad they haven't started yet, I don't like the chargers.
183 looks like it's brand new! It was looking kinda grungy for a while.
Yeah, I was pretty surprised!
Thanks for this... I was wondering what were the trains with the funny "scoop" looking thing!
For aerodynamic.
I was on that from Vancouver to Seattle just last month.
Sometimes the train travels on the left track, sometimes on the right track? Is that normal for the USA?
Somewhat normal.
I love Amtrak Cascades but in Oregon though that's my favorite Northwestern state along with Southwestern state Arizona.
They're pretty neat!
You got the now famous F59 #467 before the accident and derailment. And based on the consist you caught being the same one, this must have been days before it happened.
Amtrak458 I watched your B32-8WH Video! I loved it, please upload more, your content made me have confidence in doing those scenarios on TS 2017.
Yes, I think the shot of the 467 over the bridge was just 2 days before. They took 470 off for a few days and then put it on the train again.
Nice intro, I love that horn. Does Amtrak Cascades F59PHI's have the same numbers as the Surfliners? And is F59PHI 458 now with Amtrak Cascades?
TRAINS FOR YOU there are different numbers for the F59's on the cascades then the Surfliner.
TRAINS FOR YOU no Amtrak has their F59PHIs for surfline service numbered 450-464 Amtrak numbered cascades F59PHIs 465-470
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
No, I saw #498 on the Surfliner the other day.
The F59s that are owned by Amtrak are numbered 450-470
Interessanter Zug und schöne Strecken. Solche Züge, Talgo Züge gab es auch in Deutschland 3 Jahre im Nachtzugverkehr, die Deutsche Bahn jedoch hat Sie kaputt bekommen.
An excellent compendium featuring shots in various locations. High marks for your professionalism.
Thank you so much for the kind words. They are appreciated.
Interesting single Axle setup between each carriage... saves weight and rolling resistance I guess... does look funny though.
To me they look very European for some reason.... Beautiful scenery and thanks for posting.
Thank you very much. They are indeed European, built by a Spanish company called Talgo. They are also equipped with a tilting technology that allows them to go around curves at a faster speed than traditional train cars.
Love the video!!
I have been waiting for this video! Thank you! Will you do a train talk on Talgo train sets?
You're very welcome, thanks for the comment! I would like to talk about them on Train Talk eventually!
Nice!
Thanks!
I'll miss the old talgo sets along with the cascades f59phi.
Nice Train
Yeah nice one
Awesome video!
Thanks!
Nice video....showing great trains and LOUSY tracks...(check out Bulgaria's tracks...150kph).
Man, i love that talgo
Is that Mount Rainier at 9:02...? That shot would be great when that Mountain blows it's lid...! ... although I think the trains might have to be stopped when it does.
Yes, that is indeed Mount Rainier!
When were you up here?
@Coaster2105, can you film Union Pacific passenger train?
I have one in the video Passenger Trains Galore 2!
1:59 What's that location? With the single track?
That's Bellingham, Washington.
Great Video
Thank you!
Very good !
i used to ride the Cascade a lot between EUG and PDX

Great video! See you changed the intro and outro! I like them but still kinda miss the old ones!
Thank you! The old outro will be coming back for most of the rest of 2017.
First verified railfanner on youtube!!
:)
Are some of these railroad lines in this video the Vancouver to Seattle line?
Yes, the scenes at 0:41, 1:41, 1:57, 3:28, 3:47, 4:43, 5:40, 8:27, 10:07, and 10:41 are all between Seattle and Vancouver.
Awesome Train Video Mike!
Thank you!

the Amtrak Cascades trainset reminds me of those next gen console controller prototypes from the early 2000s
Beautiful video bravo
Thank you!
CoasterFan2105 you're welcome
Great vid as always Mike, but i don't understand what these Amtrak cascade trains are and they look so different and low, the wheels even look small , what is goin on? Lol, can you please give me some knowledge on these?
Thank you for the comment, Richie. These trains are called "Talgos". They are made by a Spanish company (also called Talgo). The cars are semi-permanently connected with 1 wheel set in between cars and special "tilt" technology that allows them to travel faster around curves than traditional rail cars. The cascades service has 5 older sets built in the late 1990s and 2 newer sets built in 2013. The older sets have "fins" that only serve the cosmetic purpose of transitioning from the height of the locomotives to the level of the Talgo cars, giving the train a sleek, continuous appearance.
At 8:07 It Sounds Like A K3LA Horn
awesome vid
Incredibly there is a McDonald's Ad halfway through this video . Bastards. Although maybe McDonald's is better than what we got on the Coast Starlight!
Can You Do A Portland And Western Railroad Compilation Please?
468 looks funny with those white number boards, it looks like it's shocked if you can see it right. Also, do you think when the Siemens Chargers replace the F59PHIs, they'll be converted into cabbages too and replace the cabbage F40s?
Most Of those hedeous F59phis have been sold to Chicago metra commuter service. So you'll your not gonna see them retired from actual service for a long time.
Great video! Where is the location with Mt. Rainier in the background?
Thank you! It's a spot just west of Puyallup, WA. There are 2 consecutive crossings, both of which provide you with a view of the trains with the mountain in the background. One of them is on 52nd street and the other is a dirt road just east of that.
I live in Bellingham wa so I have Amtrak cascades trains in our area
I live near bellingham
Excellent video with superb composition and sound capture. I could watch these all day - in fact, I am!
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
Isnt this the train the Shut Down Interstate 5 due to the engineer was Speeding on a Curve and the had to get a Crane to get it out of it predicament
I love my cascades 🌹❤️
