The Hypno Eurorack Module inspired by analog video systems. It digitally emulates and extends common analog video workflows that previously required whole systems to achieve, with shape generation, colorization, feedback and the ability to patch these elements in a simple compact interface.
Features:
- 2 oscillators with selectable shapes, frequency, rotation and polarization
- 4 feedback Modes with Positive and Negative Gain
- Auto Palette Colorizer with Root Hue Control
- CV Control over Parameters (Common Eurorack 5V to -5V signal range)
- Cross Modulation Matrix
- Per-oscillator Internal Modulation
- Composite Output
Impressive number of functions in such a small number of controls. I really appreciate thoughtful UX in eurorack.
Very cool. Fantastic design as well. Nice 👍
Holy shit mine is arriving in a couple days!! Can’t. Wait.
Psychic TV is a great wait to bait this particular hook. Well played!
Yeah ;) BTW The snippet in the beginning is actually the Hypno being run through an analog video system. Alex Pelly was an early tester of the device, I have shared (with her permission) a jam of hers here: czcams.com/video/zHmiPsc47FE/video.html&t
Neat video module! For a minute I thought you had Andrew Huang doing the demo. Your mannerisms are similar haha
Nice--lots of functions packed in a small easily controllable module. It would be cool if you could set the colors for both sides independently
Thanks! I am planning to add more palettes to the colorizer in the future, stay tuned!
pretty tight
For future modules, could you look in to adding 1v RGB outputs to make it compatible with LZX gear :)
aLiquidReality I've spoken to LZX about this and unfortunately this is quite difficult and expensive to do in practice, the TBC2 is an LZX module that will solve this for you if necessary, (however I am actively looking into solving this since I've had a few requests for this)
@@SleepyCircuits unfortunately as a user, that means an added $800 and 16 hp to add to my system. or $400 per added source. So if you can figure out how to add sync and RGB outs for less than $400, it would be worth it, but if it is going to add more than $400 to the total cost, than the TBC2 would be the best option. either way - you made a great lookin module
@@aLiquidReality Thanks, Also If you have a visual cortex you can also take the Hypno composite out into the Luma (this will give you the output in B/W for re-colorization in your system) or you can plug in an off the shelf HDMI to component converter box (these boxes are ~30USD on amazon) into the back mini-HDMI of the Hypno . (The Hypno is based on the pi zero)
Would be good to have a 0-1v mode for interfacing with lzx modules.
There is already a 1v lzx mode in the latest firmware, this can be accessed by pressing both of the oscillator buttons and then the middle one. Stay tuned for a video explanation of this soon.
@@SleepyCircuits Amazing, thanks for the heads up
Was it possible to get any higher resolution from this ? It's quite very low and about same as any older system...
Hi there, the Hypno runs at 640x480 Standard Definition. Hypno excels in performability, feature density and upgradeability over other SD systems. Higher resolutions may be possible in the future as embedded hardware improves but currently HD resolutions are quite a challenge on a tiny embedded systems without making the hardware cost very high. That being said, we are committed to continue to push what is possible and make HD available in the future.
Is there a Eurorack expander for the rear HDMI connector?
Some people in our community have made DIY ones - forum.sleepycircuits.com/t/hypno-hdmi-expander-diy/
you should send one to Andrew Huang. This would end up getting an episode of weird gear No Question.
I hope so! Thats the plan eventually haha.
How are you using the white composite cable for the video?
Some early versions of Hypno have a composite output on the front. Newer Hypnos can output composite via 35mm jack on compatible Raspberry Pis.
@@SleepyCircuits Right, but my confusion comes from the composite cable being white; is this transmitting audio or video?
I don't see anything else plugged in so I presume video, but white is audio no?
Thanks!
@@n0tett this is a composite video output
Cannot get the nds out running...

We shot you a reply in the comments section for our "How to Use Hypno With OBS" video. Let us know if that helps!
He keeps saying "camera"... What camera?!?
Please see updated tutorial: czcams.com/video/hTZGyDZRIMU/video.html
Just needs a strobe button
use an LFO
600 euro? u fkn crazy
