Metal Max Returns for the Super Famicom was the first fan translated game I ever completed. I've been fascinated by this series ever since. Metal Max 3 and 2 Reloaded for the DS also have fan translations.

Fair review that picks up on some of my complaints! I've played most of the MM games, even a couple of the Japanese only ones and this is the worst yet. I hate the changed battle system and the lack of story beats. The menus are horribly designed compared to the first Xeno, which was fun to play even though it lacked the charm of the rest of the MM games. I can't see this one gaining any new converts to the MM franchise.
Saw this on coming soon section of the eshop. Did not know it was open world. Combined with the mad max vibe, I am in! Thanks R2G!
The whole series is pretty much a mad max/fallout style. Really good RPGs. Highly recommend checking out the rest of the series.
