- It's February, once again, and so, in order to pay tribute to Black History Month, my friends and I decide to challenge ourselves on our knowledge of Black history. Gotta say, I was quite shocked... And if you don't know, now ya know.

doddleoddle I thought you weren't supposed to be drinking this month?
Thomas the Dank Engine don't worry bout it she's going sober for February.
I loved that Intro "We're Black". 👩🏾👐🏾👦🏿👐🏿👦🏾👐🏾
Samantha Herrera 👐🏾👐🏾👐🏾👐🏾👐🏿👐🏿👐🏿👐🏿👐🏿👐🏿
Samantha Herrera 👼🏿👼🏿👼🏿👼🏾👼🏾👼🏾
Samantha Herrera 🙆🏿♂️🙆🏿♂️🙆🏿♂️🙆🏿♂️
Samantha Herrera when my mom heard that she I see her pointing the middle finger at me for some reason
I swear he is the kindest guy I ever seen
Wow. It's black history month and all I've taught about was MLK, Rosa Parks, and Obama. WE NEED MORE HISTORY IN THIS MONTH.
*I've been
Abbie loves BANDS none of my classes (not even social studies) have talked about it except in science we watched glory road which is about black history (also its a really good movie) and also for years I thought MLK was a band😝
Yes
For some interesting reading look into Medgar Evers and George Washington Carver - my two favorite figures from black history.
• abbieisnotplausible • is that michael clifford on ur profile pic???
remember,you can be
-black
-white
-gay
-bi
-trans
-what you want
but you will still be loved if you just be you. People love you for who you are, not for who you play. So who this read have an amazing and youtiful day! ;D
Thank you, I needed this. I'm trans (ftm) and gay and really struggling at the moment with my identity. I'm sure this comment will pick many other people up who are feeling down, too. 😊
Thank you for spreading positivity. It's lovely. I hope you have an "amazing and youtiful day" as well! You're awesome! :)
wow ok so I actually think this is something I really needed right now. I've been thinking AOT and I think I'm going to try to come out to my friends as non binary tomorrow at school. I think I just need to know how they'd react. and I also just need to tell people, I think it's a big step for me and this, yeah this really came at the perfect moment~
Simone Shamier What if you were a liar and the lies are catching up? :( egh I'm moody today.
Simone Shamier ah, never mind. It's just that I used to lie and I'm facing the consequences now. I'll have to be forgiven first in order to be loved for who I truly am.
I feel like thomas loves all people so genuinely and unconditionally that whenever he looks at literally anyone he looks like he's in love with them
Jaye Lindsay I see what you mean he seems like such a genuinely sweet person
Jaye Lindsay The real Jesus.
Sivath nah I wouldn't go that far lol
That's why I love him
ugh ikr, i love him so much.
When Daihla said "and for being openly gay" I swear I tried my hardest not to scream with joy
James Baldwin, another option on her list, is also gay black man. :)
you can see the life leave Thomas' eyes when Leo shouts 'WRONG'
That would be me, or one my friends doing that too
Yesssss I saw it hahah
when u thought they were sitting on the stairs and for some reason feel played when they show u the chairs in the end
Clare Cotton I felt the same betrayal... I don't know why I'm so hurt.
*Clare Cotton*
Scrolling throught the comments mid vid and Im so confused
lol
I thought they were standing
SAME
the internet has taught me more about gender, sexuality, depression, anxiety, and now African american history than school has and that's no right. Thanks Thomas for being more educational than actual school
LexieLou what did the internet teach you about gender?
Jack Moore internet taught me about being non binary and transgender and school hasn't even said anything about that
So true!!
Lucky Panda same. When I first started watching CZcams I thought LGBT+ was kind of weird (granted I was pretty young. My parents always told me and my siblings they’d love us no matter what but the whole thing kind of confused me) but then it became more and more normal to me. Now pretty much everyone I watch happens to be LGBT+. Thomas, Shane Dawson, Joey Graceffa, Tyler Oakley, etc.
Right so TRUE 🖒
This. This is such an important video. Thomas and his friends are extremely positive and educational as well as being entertaining, and not being religious and political. That's really difficult to do. And somehow they are able to do that. Thanks for everything Thomas. You are truly a gift
And on these moments we realize... we actually dont deserve Thomas in this world
Bayard Rustin fought for gay rights in 1963 and conducted peaceful protests AND YET WE BARELY KNOW ABOUT HIM which makes me upset
Diana yes I took a African American history class and we talk about him for like 5 minutes
Diana Well duh! Of course we don't k ow about him! He's gay, remember!
They can't teach that in school! It's controversial
Emerald Green I will teach gay!
My teacher last year was like in love with god sooo I had no clue he was a person, if one of my teachers say something awesome about gays I will just love them for ever!
When will I learn to stop loving Thomas? He is literally a model human being.
Body slam me Park Jimin TRUUE
Body slam me Park Jimin ikr!!!!
i love your user
Body slam me Park Jimin ur user lmao
Natalie Catherine you can't go anywhere now without finding an army in the comments. @_@
The creator of rock and roll music was a black woman. The women who worked for NASA and made the calculations that sent the Friendship 7 rocket into space were black women.
I think I've heard of her before. Is she the same girl who NASA gave a second chance and she became successful?
Thomas: *posts this video*
Me: *likes it before I watch it because obviously it will be good*
Me, after watching it: *unlikes the video so I can like it again*

I love how Thomas is using his accumulating fame to talk about things others are afraid to talk about, and giving people a safe place to be heard and to discuss things they might not usually be able to.😄 Thank you Thomas for being a voice for the many people that are normally silenced, myself included. 💕💕
I loved this.
I loved this.
I loved this.
I.

I'm so happy that you're a human being on this Earth, Thomas Sanders. Your happiness and forward thinking is contagious.❣

I wish all comments sections about black history on CZcams could be this nice, civilized and open to learning. Because, let me tell y'all, it is ugly. Sometimes I skip comments all together.
I'm not black but I appreciate them just as much as every other skin color
CELEBRATE THE BLACK PEOPLE!
KayKay KittyKat hey I'm being celebrated!
KayKay KittyKat thanks ;)
KayKay KittyKat. yass im black. black lives matter

Greysen Walsh Thomas' usually are... keeps me from going crazy
Greysen Walsh, i know i wanna stay here forever. just people getting along.its so refreshing
Greysen Walsh Welcome to the wonderful world of loving people on CZcams
i love this community so much
I WANT THEM TO TEACH US THIS STUFF IN HISTORY CLASS
Marble Soda SAME XD
There is not enough time to cover every person ever
___ but there's a lot of subjects (at least in Finland, I dunno if the same things are taught in the same way in other countries) that could be taught less and then let those interested study those parts of history more on other courses. like I was taught a LOT about ancient Egypt, Greek and Rome but those imo aren't as important as recent history such as many of the things mentioned in this video. despite my love for ancient Egypt, I think extremely detailed information about how ancient Egyptians embalmed people isn't as important as who helped MLK to really spread his message... I only got to learn about MLK and that's it, we didn't even go to too great details about him either. "he was black, he fought for black people's rights, he said he has a dream, okay now let's read about the Winter War for the next 6 classes"
ya see, its WAY more important literally teaching us lies! (I'm being extremely sarcastic, if you couldn't tell)
This made me respect Thomas 100000 times more
This is a fact :
My school doesn't talk about black history almost at all and I find it sad cause it's so important and interesting I find it wierd
gyohna frans my school is the same! only a few of my teachers have ever even mentioned black history month to us....
the most they've talked about it in school was in R.E when our teacher said that Martin Luther King wouldn't have done what he did if he didn't believe in god -_- (this wasn't about black history month... my teacher just wanted a chance to shove Christianity down our thoughts a bit more)
My school (in Canada) only teaches it in February
well theres not much to teach about, blacks have not accomplished much
Big John fail
The worst sentence in a math test.
" Explain. "
Person Person ikr but what does that have to do with anything lol 😂
that sentence is terrifying...
Person Person my worst nightmare...
This was very educational. Thank you .
I'm military, and I'm sad that one of the most amazing men who served in the AirForce and Army AirCore is overlooked. He was the first African American Four Star General, Gen Daniel "Chappy" James Jr, and he's also the man who trained the Tuskeegee Airmen, and faced down Gadaffi in Lybia without breaking a sweat. He was retired medically from the AirForce due to heart issues and died shortly after, but he was one of the main people who ended segregation in the military. Look him up. He was AMAZING.
wow!

i feel loss seeing your profile pic...
I totally recommend the podcast "Stuff You Missed in History Class" to everyone who liked this video and wished the knew more about this. They cover some amazing black history info along with so much stuff that we just don't learn in school.
I was thinking just this when watching the video. The podcast hosts really do their best to present a variety of history and to be aware of the implications those topics and people have today. 100% recommend that podcast.
You are so awesome Thomas! But is black history month February in USA? in England it is October, February is gay history month
Phanic! At my green chemical fall out pilots yeah it's February
Phanic! At my green chemical fall out pilots we consider pride month July
Phanic! At my green chemical fall out pilots Wait that's a thing? Cool! Yeah, it is Black History month here in the US.

Phanic! At my green chemical fall out pilots Does anyone know when white history month is?
Uummmm why can't all youtubers do videos like these?!? I learned so much and i'm so glad that Thomas made this video🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
"You put my Ding-a-Ling in there...that's what she said" 😂😂😂😂 oh Thomas
You.. You don't need to repeat it..
I am black and just realized that black history month is held on the shortest month in the year
Vegito Gaming yeah, so what?
BRUH WHAT YOU MEAN SO WHAT WE HAVE BLACK HISTORY MONTH AND EVERYONE ELSE HAS WHITE HISTORY YEARR
Hey, it's okay. White History month starts on April Fools.

What's also great about Thomas is that his genuine personality attracts so much positivity. His fandom's so chill and just as open as he is.

Gosh I really wanna be apart of that "and we are black" Intro omfg (like seriously Thomas can I just be the fourth black person in the intro😂)
I love Thomas Sanders- just not when he scares me with click bait titles
tbh, it's thomas, i'm gonna watch, like and comment the heck out of *any* of his videos!
I was so unbelievably happy when Terrance said Jamaicans because Marcus Mosiah Garvey is a Jamaican National Hero and when went all over the world, America included, especially Africa and supported racial equality and not many Americans (that I know at least) know about Jamaica's Right Excellent Marcus Mosiah Garvey. So Thomas if you see this (read as: please see this) I would love to know if you know about The Great Marcus Garvey. Also if anyone in the comments knows about him (Marcus Garvey) or you don't please comment as this is a great fact for Black History Month.
So to everyone who took the time to read this I hope you comment and have a blessed day, and hopefully Thomas will see this and Marcus Garvey will be recognised in places other than Jamaica.
I learned about him in my AP U.S. History class last week! He established the United Negro Improvement Association and promoted black nationalism and black businesses.
I'm happy that you learned about him, do you know anything else about him?
Isabel Chelsea Price I think the greatest thing about him is that he called on black people to love themselves and see black as beautiful in a time when being black was viewed very negatively.
That means so much to me that other people know about on of Jamaica's 6 National Hero's. If there's anything you would like to know about Jamaican culture feel free to ask, I will answer them to the best on my ability.
Who are the other Jamaican national heroes? Do you know of some good books about Jamaica? Are you Jamaican?
"and we're black" dying omg

I love this so much. I'm as white as white can be. We need to learn to recognize our own privilege. I love what I learned in this video. Spread the knowledge and love!
Starry7827 I love how peaceful, socially aware and inclusive Thomas' comments are.
Classic Nostalgia His community is really the best.
*and we're **_BLACK_*
glad u want to be a part of the colored people✊✊✊RESPECT THOMAS, MAD RESPECT
why is thomas such a beautiful human
Jamaican swimmer Alia Atkinson became the first black woman to win a world swimming title in 2014.
Anissa Findley cool cool
I ship Leo and Thomas so much. They're so cute :3
Why is everyone so attractive in this video
Emily Welch just imagine me running with a rainbow in the background and screaming "everyone is beautiful"
As soon as he started singing Rolecall... i knew i liked Leo
a video where Thomas barely touches his hair
Lindsey Mullins I think it's a self conscious thing.
Thomas is so nice because not a lot of people actually don't celebrate that day and he makes a interesting video about it
Skullridder155 Does things you used a double negative which means you said "Thomas is so nice because a lot of people celebrate that day..."
Fun fact!: Brushing your teeth is the only time you clean your skeleton. It makes you think
Me after reading this: WHAT IS THE MEANING OF LIFE?
REMEMBER ME AS I GET LOST IN THE SEA OF COMMENTS!!!!!!!!
Rosetta Galaxy we will find you...
I love this video! I learn a lot within 9 minutes more than 12 years of school.
Thank you so much, Thomas. I only recently started watching your channel (You're "Taking on Anxiety" video was my first one), and I'm just so glad we have an ally like you who is so willing to learn about the struggles of minorities of all types. It's a little sad to say but I rarely see socially and politically aware white people such as yourself in both my daily life and online, and I'm so happy that people like you exist and are willing to learn more about social issues and take part in the fight for equality. Thank you.
Thomas, you are so talented, and you even have a sense of humor! You inspired me to join the acting club in my school, because of your inspiring messages that I hear from you when I watch your videos. Without you, I wouldn't have been what I am today. Thank you!
This is such a cool way to have everyone learn about black history! Way to go Thomas!!
I love this! I love the approach, I love the educational aspect, and I love the humor! ❤ You are amazing, keep doing what you do !
#10secondclub
Yup
Sierra117 Master Chief true!
Sierra117 Master Chief hi
Sierra117 Master Chief yep!
Sierra117 Master Chief here
Thomas and Leo together are just two bouncing cinnamon rolls and I love it. Also, Leo, Terrence and Dahlia are all so gorgeous? like wth?
I knew of Bayard Rustin from my human sexuality class when we discussed LGBT+ figures in US History such as Harvey Milk and Bayard Rustin. Bayard Rustin was MLK Jr.'s closest advisor and friend, and even participated in the writing of the "I Have A Dream" Speech.
Thomas is such a sweet smol bean🖤🖤🖤🖤
Victoria Hayes i agree
I haven't been this early since Oswald was still alive...
(*cough*Gotham*cough*)
LexieIsLame I've never met anybody else that watches Gotham oml But, as everybody in Gotham does, I think Oswald will somehow come back to life.
Stargirl_50 True. He's been shot and beaten before, he'll be back.
LexieIsLame YOUR THE ONLY PERSON WHO AGREES WITH ME ON THAT THEORY AND FOR THAT I THANK YOU
Stargirl_50 YOU'RE WELCOME, BUT I KINDA HAVE TO HAVE MY HOPES UP HIGH EITHER WAY (since I'm a crazy nygmobblepot shipper, don't kill me)
LexieIsLame I'm the only one out of all of my friends who watch the show that ship it. they don't like the aspect of Edward and Oswald being gay.
Hey Thomas! So there is one historical figure that I'm really surprised that none of you mentioned. James Armistead was a slave during the American Revolution and after General Lafayette and his army had moved through James' master's land, James convinced his master let him enlist in the colonial army and said that he would come back to his life as a slave if he survived. James wound up being a spy within the British Troops for General Lafayette and actually gave him the information that nearly allowed our colonial troops to capture Benedict Arnold, our most famous traitor, and the information that won us the Battle of Yorktown. In case you don't remember The Battle of Yorktown is where the colonial army won the war. Without James' spying and risking his life repeatedly (especially since the British General, General Cornwallis, that he was spying against now thought that James was spying for him) and in so many terribly evil ways to die (captured spies are hung, a spy that you thought was spying for you, but was actually working for the enemy, no one wants to die the way that James would have, if he had been caught), after all of this General Lafayette and James petitioned to have James set free, which he was. He would later die on August 8th 1830 as a free man. There's also Elizabeth Freeman the first black slave to file a freedom lawsuit and win, in the state of Massachusetts. There's also Octavia E. Butler who became the first science fiction writer to receive a grant from the MacArthur Foundation. Those are just a few of my favorites that I've learned about over the years.
Two years ago I was given the opportunity to go on a civil rights travel study with my college and we hit the biggest cities involved with the 1960s civil rights struggle. It was mind blowing how much our schools omit from the history books. It was so much information being taken in every day from filling in the gaps of what we are taught in school, to the big players of the struggle. I learned of Fannie Lou Hamer, and the powerhouse of a person she was. She did so much in the civil rights struggle but sadly I didn't learn all the work she did until I was 19 years old.
This video was great and I wish it was longer
This made me love Thomas even more💛 it's great to see a video like this because you don't really see many white people willingly celebrating Black History Month other than going the basics like MLK, Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandala, etc. and also it wasn't a forced thing either. Everything you learned in this video you looked genuinely interested in and as a black viewer it makes me feel really proud.
woah, I didnt know half of those facts
actually, I didn't know any. At least I learned something new
HI THOMAS I'M UR BIGGEST FREND, hi
HI!!!!!
Thomas Hall lool omg
T. Truly amazing
H. Hilarious
O. Outstanding vines
M. Miraculously funny
A. Absolutely hilarious
S. Super awesome
Love ya to bits :3
I was born this month and this is the first time in 23 years I hear this is the black history month. You learn something new everyday.
This is so eye opening! There definitely needs to be more history for EVERYTHING!! For every race, religion, and for more than a month!
Dahlia is so cute :3
Octobris I was going to say that :3
From one musical theatre buff to another, I'm telling you that you NEED to listen to Paul Robeson's "Ol' Man River" from Showboat. His voice was like James Earl Jones and Keith David combined! 😍czcams.com/video/eh9WayN7R-s/video.html
I second that. I was really shocked he never heard of Mr. Robeson's performance. It's so fantastic
"AND WE'RE BLACK!!" lol
I think Thomas is literally such a nice person he cares about EVERYONE and I'm so happy he's bringing this video out about Black History. He is so awesome!
I really wish this was a lot longer, I went from "omg it's 9:50 mins" to "oMG WHY IS IT ONLY 9:50 MINS????"
I loved seeing Leo and Terrence and Dahlia talking about such an important topic, I hope we get more vids with them in the future!!!
Thomas for King George #Hamilton
When they said: AND WE'RE BLACK" I was all like "ME TOO"
Ugh, I have to go back to school in 1 day. SO I'M WATCHING AS MANY OF UR VIDEOS AS I CAN.
W E sameeee but only bc its sunday and i go thru this every week BUT IM NOT READY FOR MONDAYYYY
ugh i have to go back to school tomorrow =_=
BLESS YOU for actually putting poc voices in this video. thats the way to do it, DONE RIGHT
I did a project for black history month last year and I chose Bayard Rustin so I love how much credit he's been getting recently
finally someone mentions black history month lol :D
I am a senior in high school and I feel awful that I knew basically NONE of this; Common history classes are so whitewashed that all of these historical LEGENDS are seen as just nonexistent, I can't believe this, thank you for making this video, Thomas 💞
did you see the Trailer for Stranger Things Season 2 Thomas, i found confirmed info that Eleven (who's real name is Jane) is going to have a Doppelganger/Counterpart
Carsen Maxwell Her name is Millie... Millie Bobby Brown
Sasha15Mitchell thanks
so is she Eleven's Twin Sister?
Carsen Maxwell Oh, oops...no, I mean the current Eleven is called Millie Bobbie Brown (the one in season 1)
Sasha15Mitchell Eleven's real name is Jane i knew that from watching the series also on the Stranger Things wiki that was confirmed to be her name
I can just say I legit started crying right at the beginning of this video. Nobody I'm subscribed to, heck no I know, is talking about Black History Month. Thank you, Thomas!
this was honestly the best video i have seen in a long time. a whole 28 days goes by every year (excusing leap year) and i have seen NOT ONE youtuber reference BHM unless they were an activism channel specifically. this is so important bc refusing to acknowledge a month set aside to a whole culture is almost like neglecting that side of your demographic which can never be acceptable. as a nation, Black history oftentimes goes overlooked and so many people are uneducated on the truth. so, as an african american female, thank you so much thomas for acknowledging this month and everything else you do to spread positive vibes for poc, lgbtq+, etc. this is why we love you!
hi
LlamasAreAwesome hi
LlamasAreAwesome u r first
Ya
Hey there
Hi
Dahlia is adorable!
I thought that Nelson Mandela organized some violent stuff when the peaceful protests didn't get the message across
Milton Zuckerman I thought that he was persistent on peace and it was his second wife, Winnie, who sided towards violence in her activism? Idk I may be remembering wrongly.
Minnie ur probably right, I'm going off of two year old memory
I love that you did this video so much. Thank all of you.
Black Excellency needs to be known more, needs to be taught in school more, needs to be glorified, needs to be known. Representation matters and we live in a world where racism still exists. All of us need to continue to fight so that Black History and Excellency becomes normalized and actually taught in schools, and not white washed. Equality matters and Black Lives Matter. it's the shortest month and this is the month that was chosen for Black History Month. but it needs to be longer so more people know about it!! This video is so important and Thank you Thomas, and Leo, and Dahlia, and Terrance for making this video happen
