- So here's a video that I've been wanting to put out for a while now. Don't get me wrong, I'm no Mike Love or anything, but I feel like this could be a useful lesson for anyone interested in the style.

"You want it to sound like the stuff" truer words were never spoken. Mahalo
looked up mike love as i was watching this video, thank you
This is definitely next level. I haven't seen the reggae strum taught like this on CZcams. Wow.
Oh wow, so much talent, and rhythm in your little finger than most people ever have in a lifetime! You Rock! And you can teach! Thank you! Awesome!
The guide:
0:27 - super mediocre
2:20 - ok
3:05 - stage 1 uke reggae
5:18 - stage 2
6:00 - stage intermediate
7:00 - stage advanced
Lol im at "super mediocre".
@@realityismerelyanill It's a start :)
Awesome! damn there are very few out there that get that sound right. You nailed it. Love the lesson and your style of instruction. Wish you well and THANK YOU!
Thank you for bringing Uke and reggae together!
Very amazing how you did this...showed there was a problem, show how to fix it BUT not by being a know-it- all. You stayed humble & I appreciate your lesson, though reproducing it physically? I am not ready but the effect is Fantastic.
You are an awesome teacher! As a beginner (and I really mean beginner - no music education at all) I often get really overwhelmed, but I don't feel that way when I learn from your videos. Thanks so much!!!
Great tutorial, you were right that none of the other tutorials showed a proper reggae vibe. Thank you so much for making this video.
I'm a beginner and I'm so happy I came across this video I get so frustrated trying to learn how to play the ukulele through videos that I just do random things like this strumming pattern and im glad to hear that its actually a real. Thing or sound. I can't play any songs but I can make up strumming patterns with no words whoop whoop. Mahalo you is the bomb
This was such a great and helpful tutorial, thank you so much! I love the vibe this kind of strumming gives music
Mahalo! I agree, your technique has the real feel. I like the percussive thumb bump on the body too.
Nice shoutout to Mike. He is the real goods.
you are right on the money with this tutorial. Wish I could even come close to this strum. Still learning. Thanks!
Wow, thank you for showing us such a great reggae ukulele riddim! Irie vibrations!
Excellent tutorial.. You narrowed the whole thing to its basics 👌
This sounds great! Hope you'll make a full tutorial with chords, strums, beats and all in near future. I would really like to see that...and learn from it. :)
dude you are so talented and instructive, and mike love is awesome. thanks for giving me something to practice :) best reggae strum video i’ve ever found
That is the best tutorial for a reagae strum I have found. Thanks brother
Def inspiring for a new strummer. Love that vibe. All flava.
Mike love is the man! Seen him a bunch on Big Island. Mahalo
I listen to mike love regularly. He makes such a good reggae
Definitely marked to come back and review!
I knew this was going to be great as soon as you mentioned Mike love
I'm telling you here & you better listen...you wrongly called yourself a reggae hack! Not so! You achieve a very intricate & involving sound to illustrate reggae to us "uke- learners". If we can absorb a little of this, we can try to polish up our amateurish attempts. Your stuff here is very fine
Sounds so beautiful how you play it!!
Best explanation ever! Thanks so much!
Awesome. I'm a beginner so I'll have a lot of work practicing, but it sounds absolutely worth it.
Great tips, good teaching skills! Thank you so!
Glad you made this video Aaron, cos I play it the way you are teaching it here with the muting and percussive strums, which gives it more of a Reggae feel.
I feel I've been validated bro! from Aaron 'azza' Paterson, Rockhampton 'Rock Vegas', Queensland, Australia. Aloha to all
At least a serious reggae strum ! thank you so much, that's the vibes :)
I got a lot from this ! Thanks!!!
Although I only picked up the Ukulele a year ago, I'm a huge reggae head (roots reggae). I found this really helpful. I'm still trying to get chucking down, but have also been working on fingerpicking and general muting at the same time, so I'm going to work some of your technique into the mix. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.
Justin Heininger Right on Justin!
That’s terrific! I’m totally amazed by what you just did Lol I have a long way to go to before I learn that but thank you very much. Aloha 🤙🏽

Super reggae tutorial Aaron! It is very nice also this decor, and the quality of the image! I'm going to try immediately by imagining myself in a hammock ;-)

Awesome tutorial Aaron! Loved it bro. Would be nice if you can show this on the baritone page with chords. I know chord fingering and shapes is different but would be nice to see your take on it. Well done bro 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Great!
Thank you ! I
Happy to find you! Thx for actually teaching some unique knowledge and curiosity and creativity. Not just a song. Mike love is dope for sure! He’s definitely roots. You like Mishka too? Been getting more into him. Any other recommendations for some real reggae artists? I’ve been with all the majors for so long likepepper Rebelution and such. . Just today I was telling myself man I need to use a metronome more. So did the guys I was jamming with. I’ think focusing on ukulele will improve my strum. Been playing since I was 18. Unfortunately I broke my pinky a year ago and it healed in a weird rotation and hypertension. Still been debating on rebreaking it with surgery but man would suck if it made it worse. Im 33. Love ukulele and all reggae music. Mostly all acoustic player
Very cool! Thank you 😊 What Uke are using there, it sounds great!
