Cold Air Intake Install With Ebay Parts! Is It Worth It?

  • This has been an interesting journey with my CAI episodes. Thankfully I had some official K&N parts to help substitute some mediocre parts supplied from the Ebay kit. Overall I still notice the improvement in performance and horsepower at higher RPMs. A risk was taken and it turned out to be a semi success lol. Let me know what you all think of the intake, and thank you all for watching!

    The main thing you need is the K&n sticker. That alone gives you an extra 10hp 😅

    It’s best to wrap the pipe in tie strap n wrap it with hvac trap...keeps it cooler than those high priced brands

    Cheap and effective combo. I would of did the same thing instead of paying $300 plus dollars for the same performance gains. You smart baby.

    Adding a cold air intake definitely helps! Mine cost $500 but definitely love it. Good work

    Cool video, and nice work. Sidenote, that's your MAF (mass airflow) sensor.

    So you used a K and N pipe, but it said rpm motor sports on it at the start ?

    well done; I've used CAI's on just about every (performance) car I've owned; from Miata's to my C7. It's an aFe on my C7 and honestly my overall judgement(s); a little better/quicker throttle response, a little nice intake (sucking) noise but in terms of hp I can feel? Very little. My (Vette) mechanic says (on my 6.2 LS) maybe 10 - 12 hp above 3500 rev's at best....still looks and sounds cool.....and about the limit of what I can do myself......maybe a double blind test? Just kidding…..

    Drop the filter inside the factory box the original filter was in you will not get heat from the engine and you will get cool air from the fender like the factory intake

    Question. Was the eBay filter smaller than the K &N? Did you have any fitment issues with switching out filters? I like the chrome look but I hate the small filters.

    For what you paid you stole that intake! I'm thinking about putting one on mine. I have the drop in filter for the time being.
    Good work on the video.

    Does that require a tune?The 5.0 seems to require a tune for damn near all aftermarket intakes

    • @HerAutoPerspective
      @HerAutoPerspective  Před 5 lety +4

      DatBoyDre I don’t think it “requires” a tune but I’m sure it would certainly help. I’m waiting until I can install headers before I get a tune 💪🏾

    Oh honey.... putting a new filter in your airbox wont give you 5hp it took 3 of ya all day to put that concoction tongether? Lol i would have slapped it on in 10 minutes also i like your diy style i would never pay upwards of 300 for a cai unless it was carbon fiber cause a intake wont give you any hp gains without a tune
