Why is everyone sleeping on Jhene Aiko? Is it because her music is sad? I really don’t understand why she’s not a top R&B female artist. I need answers bc I feel like there’s something y’all know that I don’t at this point.
There’s nothing relatively innovative she’s done and she’s not the best performer or vocalist....
Michael Brooks well I disagree with that statement but okay. She’s a songwriter, poet, and her voice is angelic. Not everyone needs to sound like a Beyoncé and have a deep Alto voice in female R&B. Plus let’s not act like the women we consider the “best” are actually the best vocalists. No shade cause I love them too. And you’re right that she’s not the best performer, she’s need to work on her nerves while performing. Maybe stop getting high before them. It could overall be better actually so I’ll give you that but no she’s artistic and gives meaningful lyrics. She’s not a dramatic person and is quite shy sometimes. I love her music and wish people would appreciate her more. Like other artists can literally talk about the most basic shit and hire a good producer and all of a sudden they one of the best in R&B. Good yes, “best”?, debatable.
