  • We where invited by Peter (Thanks a lot!) to test his SIAI Marchetti SF 260, starting from Tannheim, Germany (EDMT).
We did some handling tests, rolls, aileron rolls, loop, snap roll etc.
This airplane is extremely well to handle!

Looks like the same color as the Red Hawks aerobatic team that flew a few years ago from New Jersey USA. Beautiful planes!

THanks for your friendly comments. This F-260 is a civil version and has never been used for military.

Sexy plane! Love the tip tanks! Kudos for the manicured enviro-friendly grass strip, lol.
PS: Is this SF.260 from military surplus, or...?

Did you guys take off with 30 degrees of flaps?! I thought 20 is the recommended flap setting. Was the field that bad?

You are right, 20 degrees is recommended. The field was little bit soft after rain, so we choosed 30 degrees.

does fuel quantity affect choice of flap setting or on surface condition and or field length perhaps? Thanks

@@furball6855 fuel quantity and/or passengers influence take off weight and therefore flap settings. Heavy and soft I choose 25-30 degrees, in order to get the gear out of the "mud" faster. On paved runway we always use 20 degrees.

Regarding rotate speeds and weight that you mentioned before, vr 55 and lift off at 62, I presume that is for less than full tanks? What would be the number for full tanks and single pilot? What fuel level do you use for a 20 min aerobatic flight ? My project is learning this aircraft in X-plane 11 😀

Hi, speeds in the manual are for MTOW (= maximum take off weight, ISA standard, Sea Level). Fuel consumption is around 60L per hour in aerobatics. 20min = 20L = around 5.3 gallons
