History was always my worst subject in school. Thanks to you and Phil, I've found a whole new appreciation for it. Thanks for sharing these adventures with the world!
That's what I thought. I always see them where there was a hoist. I believe there was a big rectifier room at the second hoist but I'm not sure. I think they transformed AC to DC for better efficiency.
Whoah Tommy Whoah! This video is epic! I love how you took the time to re shoot the hoist room and the voiceover. There’s so many spots I want to comment on in this one.
That big triangle scraper was called a slusher. They would drill the holes, set charges, blast, and use the slusher to muck out the rock and ore. It would have been run by a hoist and would go forward and backwards. It made life much easier for the miners. Those are still used to this very day in certain situations or depending on how deep your pockets are and how serious the operation is. And another thing, the cables that were used on the hoists were usually taken out because they were worth more money than most of the hoists themselves 😊 so many of the old hoists won't have the cables still wound on the spool because of this. Truly a wonderful picture of American history. Thanks for sharing and documenting everything. I'm thankful you guys got there before nature reclaimed it.
@@shineyrocks390 Thanks for the information in my next video you're going to see all the cable wire rope from that hoist is down the slope, and a couple more goodies so stay tuned 🙂
I'm just over half way through the video (new subscriber). It would be awesome to see that light bulb light up! I would build a lamp just for that bulb. Awesome videos guys!
@@577buttfan In my hometown in Yorkshire, UK, a local coal mine was known for all the fossils in the waste piles but I lived a couple of miles away and didn't know until reading about it recently. The mine closed and waste all cleared away . I lived by brickworks quarry and had plenty of little fossils in the lower layers of sediments. There was poor quality coal in higher layers and about twelve feet down a solid 4feet band of sandstone that I've seen covers the whole of Yorkshire.
Go to New Castle Pennsylvania along Nashanock Creek lower end of croton avenue. Ask the locals. I have been in that cave. It's really Awesome. It goes a long way under New Castle. Another one to Explore 😂😂😂😂

First time on this channel. Fantastic explore. You guys are like two young kids on Christmas morning. Very fun, thanks for taking us on the journey.
The people who worked in the mines were hard workers. Thank you for showing this. Be safe

Your welcome man! These mines built this country.
Awesome mine. Love watching you and Phil. Imagine how loud that hoist room would have been with everything running.
thanks again for taking us along, yes this is a epic find. Unbelievable all the history down there. you guys be safe on your adventures.
Those electrical boxes are heavy duty resistors used for varying the voltage to an electric motor for speed control.

Probably for resistive braking, not for motor voltage\speed control
Keep up the awesome work That was freaking awesome
Thanks!

Looks like someone took\stole all of the copper wiring. Looks like anything of value was remove from that mine a very long time ago.
the men who hacked those tunnels out and dragged the great machinery in were supermen!

the entire walls, fllor and roof show shattered sediments laid down during the flood.
There was definitely a flood cuz I've seen shellfish fossils down there
@@577buttfan I just read there are 6400 diamond pipes on the land and all were the geysers of the first day of the flood.
