This film is 82 years old in 2022 & people are complaining about audio. Smdh! How about being appreciative that it survived this long. 🎥📽🎬

AMEN! Movies like this one are vintage stuff, already old when I was a little kid (and I was born in the Truman administration). It's a blessing that some are still watchable. It's a precious public service that some are even being restored.

i so love the watch joke, when he asked what time it is. he goes my watch wakes me up in the morning, cooks my eggs, then he said, would you tell me what time it is, and he goes, what do you want from a watch, everything? i found that entirely funny cause they got watches today, that do everything but tell time. too funny. you gots to watch my wrist watch. you gots to watch my wrist watch. . . tells time!!!!

Eve Arden as a lawyer's secretary turned out to be a dry run; much later she was Jimmy Stewart's secretary in Anatomy of a Murder, a much better role for her. She really shined in it; plenty of good wisecracks - and nobody could crack wise better than Arden.

WHAT a terrific movie! And SO MANY actors I'm familiar with from so many other movies! Mystery, comedy, romance... and the last act came as a complete shock. I only wish the sound was better, as I had a bit of trouble making out some of the dialogue.
I've been buying and watching a LOT of very old movies lately, and it really makes a huge difference in how some companies treat their old films, or how some outfits do restorations. Perfect example, I recently got a box of PHILO VANCE films. All 4 from Paramount look AWFUL, while the ones from MGM and Warner Bros. are crystal-clear. (The first 3 from Paramount, of course, were the BEST-written. Really makes me wish someone could track down decent prints and do extensive restorations on them.) I also got a silent the other week from 1916. Part of it apparently couldn't be cleaned up... but the two-thirds that was... was so crystal-clear, you'd almost swear it was filmed "YESTERDAY", instead of 116 years ago!
I always remember Pat O'Brien as Jennifer Marlowe's older boyfriend in a 4th-season episode of "WKRP", when he had a video will for when he passed away. On the tape, he said to one of his nephews: "I'd like to leave you LESS than nothing, but this fool lawyer of mine, he can't figure out how to do that!" 😆

One of the best Jennifer centered episodes next to the two way mirror in the photographers studio. Actually a close call as to which is my favorite. The ‘less than’ than line is great.
