As Tina Turner sang.. What's Love Got To Do With It... Any individual that takes back a cheater has low self-esteem and no self-respect for themselves. Relationships are like glass once broken can never be repaired. Sure, you can try and glue them back together, but the cracks will always be there.
As a councellor I would have said you need to divorce. Does not matter who strayed but there needed to be a consequence to the cheater.
Sure they are back but no shared assets, no ring, no exclusivity and probe a cheating pre-nupt in place if their relationship gets back there.
Big difference to a marriage and the security and processes that tie marriages together. They could separate at any time over anything now with no courts, councelling, delays or processes.
The original relationship ended this is a new one with a gap and other people in between. Less trust but for them there is value and understanding of what is acceptable and will happen.
It won't be the same but family, children and stage in life all change what a relationship is, they did not remarry and may never, it may not work but they could get what they need to be happy.
