  • Santa Cruz Island is part of the Channel Islands off our Southern California Coast. Santa Cruz is a group of eight islands, five of them are part of the Channel Islands National Park. Come along on our 26ish hour adventure of kayaking through amazing caves with our awesome guides Craig and Sarah, going on a hike with Ranger Spencer to watch the sunset and camping with the island foxes. The camp ground is beautiful but you’ll need to bring everything with you for camping. There are no stores, or even camp hosts if you forgot something.
    Sites used to plan our trip.
    1. Island Packers is the boat across the channel (islandpackers....)
    2. Island Kayaking company (www.islandkaya...)
    3. Camping site from www.recreation...

      If you can’t get a camp site, you can always go for a day/ but hanging out with the island foxes in the camp ground was pretty fun.😄

    Wow. We kayaked this in December. In a crazy rainstorm. Why is a whole other story. We said we wanted to come back when it was nicer and now I see why.

      I did ask if all of these these have happened.... Yup, falls, rocks, fires and accidentally feeding the foxes that are a mix between a squirrel and a cat.

    This is a great video! Great Editing, scene Lengths were perfect. I did not get bored or have to fast forward. I'm going over next week with my oldest daughter for 3 days. How did the bathrooms look? Any showers and or sinks to rinse dishes? Thanks

    • @AdventureMuse
      @AdventureMuse  Před 5 lety

      Thank you so much for the kind words! The bathrooms are pit toilets, but clean, and stock with TP. They didn't seem bad to me. No showers, but there is running water in the campground, so if you have a solar shower, you could bring that. No sink for dishes - think of it as backcountry camping. you want to leave as little food residue behind as possible. The foxes and ravens are smart and will steal your food and can open zippers! Hope that helps and enjoy! It's a magical place.

    Gorgeous!! What do you do with the kayaks when you want to hike/camp? Is there somewhere to dock them?

    • @AdventureMuse
      @AdventureMuse  Před 4 lety

      The kayaks are on the beach. We didn't bring our own, we rented them with the tour company.

  • @virgo714
    @virgo714 Před 4 lety

    So for over night camping, what should one bring?

    • @AdventureMuse
      @AdventureMuse  Před 4 lety

      Great question. I'd pack light since you have to carry everything to your site. It's a flat hike, but depending where your site is, you might have a way to go. Think of it as a mini backpacking trip and what you need. Tent/mat/bag/food/stove if you want to cook. there is water that you can drink, I thought it tasted fine. pack out what you bring in. You are roughing it. Hope that helps.

      Did you find pull wagon to bring? A handcart looking thing? That was smart.
