- A vigorous training schedule is CRUCIAL when owning a dog, BUT, you can't train all day everyday! So what do I do with my Belgian Malinois when I am not training him? Consider setting aside 10 minutes and watching this video! The concepts are applicable to almost every breed/age of dog!
ENJOY!

Happy Training!
so beautiful - and yes i am living with my dutchy in an apartment in the middle of Berlin, Germany, but the first thing every morning before even taking a coffee is just to cross the street making the way through a park, crossing another street to the next park and finally arriving in a forest beside the river (Spree) and we enjoy a good walk for one or two hours - all without leash, but also without hunting ....this routine of 4 hours outside to start the day i do since more than 30 years, because that´s what is feeding my heart and my soul - to walk and watch nature being calm and quiet with my dog/s
also we finish each day with a walk in the park or beside the river watching the sunset
i am able to take my dog to work, so he is almost never alone except for shopping food
walking to my job and back through the busy streets of Berlin is training time, also during the hour lunchtime
it´s something you need to love and breathe, if not, it´s better to have two cats
thank you for your work
Love the fact that you tell him you love him in such a happy and doting way!
clearest water i’ve seen in a while! looks like a refreshing day for the kiddo 👍
You are the man. 100 percent spot on. I'm training my 8 month old female German shepherd. She needs her crazy time to just run the fields and be a dog. Lovely!
My GSD is off lease trained and e-collar as backup. I used to let him roam off leash at the park twice a days. Then I got 3 warnings from a cop, so now I have to be sneaky about it.
That's the right attitude Andy .
I have a one year old Malinois, at the park twice a day the heeling for 30 min on leash, took him to all kinds of festivals , it is very close to everyone, he is getting calmer but still needs more time.
I am in Toronto and only learned from CZcams as a start.
This is the happiest Malinois that I've seen!
I've always believed that allowing a dog to be a dog is the greatest gift you can give them.
As always a great positive video. I call this let them be a dog time. Thanks for all you teach us.
I am so glad you are explaining and showing this about shepherds. I may live in a town but I have one and 1/3 lots fenced and that is his for his free time. gardens trees to fetch balls out of and a shoot under the fence along the sidewalk and he kicks tennis balls through it outside to passers by who throw the ball over the fence to him.
Thanks Andy for another great tip.
Hi Andy, so enjoyed your video, first time watcher.. my dog handler introduced me to you, I needed some ideas of how to “play” with my 2 golden retrievers- such amazing advice, thank you!!
I train IGP with my Rottweiler. We go to the beach once a week all year round. Here she gets to run around with her ball, swim and whatever else she thinks is fun.
Denmark, where we live, has 5500 miles of light so you can always find a place without other people and dogs
That’s awesome!
Awesome, love your advise
Definitely enjoyed this video.
Great video, Mr Freddy enjoying is free time! We try to do the same with ours. Likely more play time than trining on our part but work in our commands with toys as much as possible. Great property! Dog and human oasis! 🤙🇨🇦
I happen to be one of the people who have a GSD and a half Malinois in an apartment. I make sure there is time for them to be a dog, train, play, mental and genetic fulfillment. It isn't easy to do if you don't know the breed and their needs. Not something I would recommend to most.
Andy started with a Mali in an apartment, he used a longline to train with. I use a 50' longline in some of my exercises. Malinois are a lifestyle for sure.
He’s a happy boy! We take Zig up to our property in the sticks and just let her run. She’s better for her training for days after.
Exactly! 🙌🏻
Luv the relaxing dor Freddy.. my boy would of just sat there and waiting for me to throw the ball. Lol
Wow, lot of energy !
I have a pair and live in a similar situation. That's why my Mals don't destroy stuff.
We feel the love between you it's magic !
He is loving the water!!! Hahaha.. not the worlds best swimmer. I love this!
It was so obvious Freddy felt one with nature!!!!🎉
Beautiful property
Good job!
🙌🏻
The Dog Oasis is awesome! Freddy is such a handsome guy!
🙏🏼
Super useful to see Andy. Your place is just heaven! how long would you spend like this a day in comparison to training time and down time? Not such a great back garden here so most 'free' time is what I call supervised hunting when we go out to the forest with short training sessions (retrieves, heelwork etc.) in between. Environment can be too reinforcing so have to watch that, sometimes I just park myself up and sit on a tree or something and let her range a bit. If at home I might scatter feed in the garden or similar. Love the content that shows everything that supports the training. Another great video thank you.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
We do this at least once per day for 20 or so min, weather permitting 👍🏻
I love your enthusiasm and way yo understand dogs and train them. Will you show you dog Knight the black german shepherd soon? I love him!
Just posted a Short of him
Exactly
Freddy was about to “whisper” in your ear “ Cesar Millian approved” 😂😂 sorry Andy I had to!!
I watched your video about not playing fetch, but I desperately wanted you to launch that ball in the water for him.
The pond looks so great! Do you and your family swim in it? Lucky boy to have such an amazing life!
Thanks!
No not really, just the dogs
I try to leave my shepherd out to play, roam (we have 3.5 acres), but she will just stand on the stoop and look in the door she won't play. I go out and throw ball for her etc just about every two hours - but I do have a f/t (at home) job and mother with cancer that I care for so I can't just roam around the property all day every day. I have started (almost daily 5-6 times a week) taking her on my lunch hour to different local parks to run, to hike through wooded areas, she plays on the slides at one park, got in the river for first time yesterday, etc. but I can't stand outside with her all day or even for hours. I'm hoping between training time, our hour lunches and 5-10 minutes every 2 hours of playing fetch etc its enough for her. (The hour lunches at local parks seemed to have helped a lot). I also try to take her in different stores with me as well. (our two labs would have no problem roaming around the property sniffing, rolling in grass or just relaxing - not Bella, she wants you right with her every minute).
I take mine to black bayou reserve on a long line and just let her play with everything on the walk! She is hilarious.
Andy you live in a beautiful part of the country and your property is very beautiful.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Love ur T shirt... lol
Amazing place, Andy! Do you ever carry the training over there or its a relax place only? For those who have only the option to take the dog out to others places is it ok to finish the training then releasing the dog to relax in the same space?
Training can happen anywhere!
What a heaven
What a life for a dog ❤️ love your property💪❤️ a lot of mowing, I mean thats a lot 😁😅
Thanks!
It is a lot of mowing, BUT, luckily I love yard work! I used to work as a landscaper as a teenager 💪🏼
Need horses 🐎 😅
Andy after seeing the Oasis...so who cuts the Grass ! 😅😅😅😮😮😮💪💯👊
Me and my crew 💪🏼
Do you happen to have any videos on stopping licking?
As in licking any skin near the dog, constantly? I feel it wasn’t an issue until I started giving his meals during training. He doesn’t bite the food from my hand, he constantly licks it
It would be awesome to see a "herd" of Malinois! Is it possible?
Can you make a video on how to show your dog its ok to play with other dogs small and big my GSD ignores dogs and doesnt like it when other dogs play around here
Unfortunately that does not have anything to do with training 🙏🏼
Are you located in Cincinnati? I am from there.
so Freddy is either training, running the field, and then the rest hes in the crate ?
Yep
Hi, I am getting a 8 week old malinois pup. She will be working cattle with my husband mainly. I have a a female Doberman and a male french bulldog. My Frenchie is not great with other dogs. How do I introduce her to him without my frenchie attacking her? He dominates my Doberman and has attacked her as well. They play nice together, but will still get pissed at her and go after her. I don't really want that to happen to the pup.
They cannot meet. Recipe for disaster. I’m sorry.
Andy. Quick question. Where do you hold your dogs when you not working with them or they're sleeping?
Crate
@@AndyKrueger I thought so. Tnx for answering.
