Like I've said this band scared the bejesus out of me when i saw them 40 odd years ago....why prince let them open for him was well..... history proved itself.....still the baddest mo fo's ever....no doubt ❤
So Prince is the rare musician who kicked his own ass live.
@@keithharriston3176 yep because most of what The Time was doing back then was written and produced by Prince.. lol so yea, he kicked his own @#$#
Jesse was a Guitar Monster!
Check that. Jesse is a Guitar Monster🎸
Nice work on the audio! Actually enjoyed from start to finish.
🔥💯 - The Time was an amazing band. Fantastic!!! ... But, remember that both of their entire albums were written, produced and performed by Prince. While Prince was also writing the Controversy album, the 1999 album and the Vanity6 album.... PRINCE was literally a GENIUS!!! ... And, I almost forgot to mention that Prince was only 23 or 24 years old during this period... . RIP Prince. 💯👍🏽
Yes but please understand that The Time is one of the most talented bands ever ever ever. When people say Prince produced and played all the instruments on certain albums it leaves the impression members of The Time were not talented. Take a look at what Jam and Lewis have done on their own producing tons of artists and big, big hits. I believe they owned the Minnesota Timberwolves at one time as well. Jesse Johnson made platinum records on his own. Morris Day is a multi-millionaire and a highly talented drummer. He still has a form of The Time known as Morris Day and The Time. Speaking of drummers, Jellybean Johnson is still in the band and produced and organized Mint Condition. Jerome Benton starred in a few movies. So please recognize The Time as what they were/are........COOL!!
yes the 1st album included writing and performing/singing by member of the noituloveR: Dez Dickerson, Dr Fink and Lisa Coleman as well as Morris Day on most drumming, Terry Lewis and Sue Ann Carwell on some bg vocals. The 2nd album included Morris Day on most drumming as well and backing vocals by Jill Jones Susan Moonsie Vanity & Kim Upsher on bg vocals Jesse Johnson played guiter on Gigolos Get Lonely Too
@@kingtyomama6564 - Dude shut up, You are talking about minor contributions from other guys... PRINCE was the creative force behind all of the Time's albums... Nobody disagrees with that, even JimmyJam, TerryLewis and Morris Day will admit it.... Dude, stop trying to rewrite history.... PRINCE'S legacy is very well documented. 🔥
@@kingtyomama6564 I'm glad you wrote this and I agree with you. Yes, Prince produced and played on the albums but The Time was extremely talented and their various members had individual accomplishments that are worth mentioning. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are one of the greatest R&B music production teams ever and they made history. They produced all those great, top selling albums for Janet and even produced New Edition's classic album, Heartbreak. Jam and Lewis have won multiple Grammy awards.
❤️❤️❤️❤️💜💜💜💜🔥❤️❤️
Of course, Prince groomed The Time...but on stage, they exceeded even HIS expectations. That's how COOL they were!
Major props to those Funky Brothers who made up the Original Band and Rest In Peace to Prince 👑!!!!✊🏾🥁🪨
I just came here to say I watch this shit almost everyday. This one and the joint from the triple threat tour in Minneapolis. I love seeing how they cut the cool and made different routines for these songs just to bust Prince in his snooty ass.! The Stick and Get It Up are my favorite routines on this video!
Long live prince!
Long live the time!
Jesse Johnson you are a beast!
Jimmy Jam and Terry yall steps on the walk I inspire to perfect
Morris I got a robe just like yo jacket
Jelly bean don’t be so mean !
Monte you always play that soft and sexy shit
To the fans I’m glad yall still here with me !
I’m glad you enjoy … I have other The Time concert videos coming. I enjoy how they (The Time & Prince) pushed each other and had respectful and probably sometimes disrespectful competition. The Time added a layer of cool Prince couldn’t achieve without them.
🕊️☮️
Ain't nobody bad like The Time 💯
Thank you again Duane for posting another AMAZING CONCERT!! The original 7 in the Time were soooo amazing!! Wow!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️💋
Glad u enjoyed… ur most welcome!
🕊️☮️
Prince groomed them to be BETTER than your ABSOLUTE favorite new wave rock band from back in the day. I'm STILL in AWE of him when I see video footage of him making guest appearances. He just had a mystique that can NEVER be duplicated nor replaced.
Exactly, that's why this band is so unique. They're new wave, but they can feel like a punk rock band. But also, can feel like a pop band, boy band, funk band or an R&B/Soul group. They had a perfect blend of music.
Man they killed it!!!
💜🐾
thats what time it is
I was in the 11th grade during this TIME only wishing that I could have seen them live in concert.......... It's 2024 and one of my biggest wishes just came true! Hats off to the genius who uploaded this rare footage. "Band , Yeah , anybody Hot? , No , you know why , Why , cause were Cool! The Time was Bad To Bone! Good looking out "PRINCE " U MADE IT ALL HAPPEN ,RIP
Glad u enjoyed. If ur a subscriber - stay tuned - I have more The Time concert videos coming in 2-3 months and beyond.

What's crazy about prince is and brilliant he was r.ip. How can u make a group better than u are as a musician.
They ain't better than Prince.
This is lit 🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️great energy great performance
They always gave 100% … their mentor taught them well. 🕊️☮️
Thank u for posting this!!!!
Most welcome, thank u for viewing. 🕊️☮️
Amazing! Who is playing the "coke bottle" percussion on Cool? I don't see Jerome or anyone on perc pads.
wow terry lewis is playing a gibson flying v
That was his main aim at that time, no punt intended 😊.
Damn Terry Lewis on 26:08
Where's the part that Morris pushed Prince hard on the ground after Prince pushed Morris? 🤣🤣
That’s the behind the scenes of purple rain
@@maxferdy7702 There's an actual live performance of them pushing each other. It was either the triple threat tour or The Time tour.
@@PR7YAHoooooh rare concert lemme see
このリズム!
Fantastic, I love seeing this, thank you!
Could Jill or Lisa be back there singing backup ? Or a track? I hear a female voice singing backup, but it could be one of the guys.
Glad u enjoyed. It’s very likely Jill is backstage doing backing vocals. The Time would play instruments behind a curtain for Vanity 6 performances and Prince would sometimes play guitar from backstage, so I’d imagine Lisa did the same. That’s how they supported each other while letting the main onstage performers shine on their own. 🕊️☮️
@@duane.PrinceDMSR thanks, that does make sense. I love Jill , and it does sound like her ( and maybe Lisa too) I think I read that Jill sang backstage for Vanity 6/Apollonia 6 at times, too. Thank you so much for your channel and the work you do! 💜
Vanity
Rusty and Maurice
What time is it .....time for the time....
BASS PLAYERS! Is that not that fattest bass sound you've ever heard??
Vanity 6
