Anywho, if I had to sum up Gauss for me personally: Kit is fine, but battery is kind of a pain to maintain. Given that it drains 5 different ways and can only be gained 3 different ways, one of which can't even maintain battery on its own if you have 2 and 4 active (that charging method being movement) Make battery less of a headache, and he'll be guuchi for me Cheers for the patience btw folks! I know uploads have been sparse for awhile, and I'm trying to kick things back into high gear. Just have had a lot going on recently

I play on console, so yesterday after I installed the Gauss update, it displayed a default Excalibur instead of my Saryn Prime and honestly, I was scared to death, because it took quite a while to load

This is why I like your warframe reviews, you go over things that you love, or think is something that could used in many areas of the game. And then you talk about all the crap DE threw in. Mostly, is the kit good, and how could they improve. I like it, love the vid man, keep up the good work.

I think that Gauss should get a small addition to Mach Rush: You should be able to slide in it, but it's not just a regular slide with no benefit, but instead Gauss rams his hand into the ground making him slow down a bit and while he is in that sliding animation he can manover a lot better and do such things at cut sharp corners and make U-turns and while you're in that animation you also can't slam into walls, this should help you to get arround a lot better in tighter spaces while still keeping your momentum. Also if you need to imagine how the sliding animation should look like: Imagine drifting, but instead of doing it in a car you're doing it on foot, for reference (that most of you probably won't get) do you know that time Raiden had to chase a train in Metal Gear Rising Revengance and he made that sick turn while sprinting at full speed, that's what it should look like. Also fix his battery.
Pepsi Gauss, that's the only color scheme I will ever use on Gauss. Also basically you are saying buff Gauss battery conversion, tweak scaling to make his battery less ass.
Gauss, the fast and frustrating but still a pretty good character, and then he became the warframe who also got buffed so hard he almost stole the spotlight from Atlas prime in the patch notes and lost a good amount of his problems and also strips 100% of armor with his 3 now. Thanks DE
Kinetic plating drain over time is the issue, not the "on damage taken" part, tho it and the energy conversion part should IMO inversely scale with efficiency (less efficiency = more drained gauge but higher % of energy gained back and inversely high efficiency = less drain but less energy return). Essentially it should work like "stored speed based ablative plating" instead of "jelly wall on a hot day". Redline overcharge rate is solid and its inverse scaling is also good as it encourages 2 different types of pay/build focuses (slammy boi vs steady wins the race). Issue with nullifiers tho is that the assholes SHOULD PAUSE ABILITIES INSTEAD OF REMOVE BUFFS AND TURN OFF TOGGLES. They should nullify not switch off!

I want to know what happens when you put Dispatch Overdrive and Rush on a Gauss, then get into a Squad with a Volt who activates their Speed ability, THEN you Mach Rush through one of Wisps plants that increases movement speed. I am a Gauss main, so if there is anyone who wants to test that out with me, I'd love to find out.
Edit 4: Please read edits 1 and 3 for more context. Kinetic Plating has a design flaw to the rest of his kit when you think about it. His whole thing is, ”you can’t kill what you can’t hit,” but because of how energy hungry he is you need to stop so that you can be hit and regain energy. You need to stop, as the movement frame, to regain energy. Your survivability (damage reduction) is dependent on his battery level, which drains whenever you get hit. You can only regain battery by running (which makes you hard to hit) or using thermal sunder(which costs energy, the energy you don’t have). I don’t even have Gauss yet but this is what I can take away from the design of his 2. Edit 1: Here’s my thoughts on how to change Gauss’ abilities. I’ll finish this with a second edit. Edit 2: finished Mach Rush: good as is, maybe make its speed dependent on sprint speed and power duration instead of just only sprint speed but otherwise it’s fine. Kinetic Plating: 1) Reduce or remove the battery drain when hit. 2) either make Kinetic Plating all-encompassing when it comes to DR(damage reduction to all damage types, but DR is reduced to 80% at base and max 90-95% scaling with power duration) or give full DR benefits to IPS, cold, heat, and blast, but only 50-75% of full benefits to all other types(if at 100% battery level DR and you get hit by toxin damage, you will only take 50% damage from it. 50% is a base, scaling with power duration up to 75%. NOTE: when I say 50% and 75%, I mean that percent of battery level percent. Like if the battery level is 50%, then you will have 50% DR to IPS, cold, heat, blast while you have 25% DR to everything else; since 25 is 50% of 50). Thermal Sunder: either reduce the energy cost by 50% or make it only require 1 cast for full freeze effects. Redline: Make Redline charge faster with MORE ability duration, not less. Passive: 1) make the battery level UI more clear. Being able to see the percent of the battery is more helpful than seeing the Redline percent, trying to guess the percent of battery percent is not good design.(simplified down, make the percent go up to 80 and appear in white text when Redline isn’t active, and make it go up to 100 in red text when Redline is active. If there are any more changes you think could be good, reply to this comment with them. Maybe we can make a full list of changes to give to DE. Edit 3: So I got my hands on him 3 days later, but I’m too tired to fully edit this again. Basically what I got is make his 2 have more coverage when it comes to damage types and reduce battery drain when hit BY A LOT, make his 3 less energy hungry, and make his 4 less bullshit in terms of building Redline% and battery indication.

Yeah, and I'm also not a fan of how it uses the same resource that determines how effective your 4 and 3 are, and I already showed just how necessary battery is for his 3 and 4 to function. It's why I don't agree with it draining battery so much. I'd rather it just have its own HP pool, that gets higher the more battery you have prior to activating it.
After years of playing this game I’ve become more of a casual player. I have to say Gauss took over as my favorite Warframe. I do have to agree with you here though. He could do with some improvement.
gauss RN is currently god because of the insane buffs in his abilities, my favorite of all is when redline reaches 100% the battery doesn't go down at all which also battery charges fast now like I casted redline at 62 secs then 100% at 50 secs which is really amazing

pro tip with gauss, you can easily refill your battery past 80 with his 4 and using the cold 3, and then keep the 2 up when the battery is maxed till the ability runs out. recharge to 80 with the 1 and repeat
I've got to say, your channel and this video specifically got me interested in Warframe. i tried to download it on my shitty laptop and it ran like... well shit. but i will never forget the magical experience of booting the game up for the first time. it was when Wukong Prime released. and i didnt know how the game worked. thing's i desperately wanted was an arch-wing, Wukong Prime and Gauss. AAHH this is so nostalgic for me, the sound you get when you go over a planet's, that burned itself forever in my memory. i watched playthrough were people talk about were to find resources and were they currently are in the star chart. i was such a noob the furthest i went was Ceres or Jupiter id i remember correctly. Now, im a "veteran" you could say. im endgame but ive only played a year and a half on console. i will never forget my decision to redownload warframe after so long, and to be honest it is the best gaming decision ive ever made. and you couldn't guess it im a Gauss main to the person reading this..... wow
The battery reminds me a-lot of the Baby Faces Blaster from TF2, since you can go pretty fast with it, but a single bit of chip damage is enough to screw you over.
- Mach Rush should make you faster the more you cannel it, making it actually useful on the plains/Orb Vallis - Kinetic Plating should not have an innate drain for just being active - Redline should boost Sprint Speed (why tf isnt this a thing already?) and getting to 100% should be more reliable (aka making it so you can actually use it when you want to)
Oh Gauss my Gauss, the one frame that can disable crouds of level 100+ grineer with ease on a speed/duration build (not to mention that kinetic plating negates bramma knockback and redline makes it a *shoot-as-fast-as-you-can-click* stat boosting damage machine. You don't even need to aim, just randomly click and boom you're the quarter of the team that did 70% of the damage.
I'm calling it now, gauss is gonna be one of those frames which gets an augment which is rediculously good. As in something like Sunder Augment: Makes cold thermal Sunder regenerate more battery for every enemy hit over the entire duration of the ability
I've got an invincible guass build that uses no battery. Cast kinetic plating once and no death. Even at only 100% power strength. Everyone trys to max redline first without thinking outside the box around what kinetic plating brings to the table.

I agree Gauss kit is fine, I quite like it a lot actually but keeping red line up and gaining full benefits is really tough and frustrating to deal with at times and I agree with the change suggested have full benefits between 80-90%, just in case 80% to easy. I understand DE not wanting to make it to easy but I think they went to tough on red line.
he's a near unkillable tank who you cant really hit to begin with and he can insta strip ALL armor wen red line is active and he dose the 2 clap combo with his 3rd......and the other buffs red line give him are nuts lol.
It's funny seeing this and my Gauss battery level is always max because I'm a twitchy bi- Also I might have missed it but if you dive into a pool of enemies like it's an Olympic dive sport and use Thermal Sunder, that battery level will rise like a morning flag pole

Trib. You missed something. Kinetic plating doesn't convert damage taken, but damage the enemy does. This means when combined with quick thinking and gladiator finesse, even at 0% battery, you can't die. And honestly, your gauss. Your not going to be hit that much anyway, your either outrunning bullets or everyone is ragdolled lr frozen.

Yeah, and I'm also not a fan of how it uses the same resource that determines how effective your 4 and 3 are, and I already showed just how necessary battery is for his 3 and 4 to function. It's why I don't agree with it draining battery so much.
I'd rather it just have its own HP pool, that gets higher the more battery you have prior to activating it.

gauss RN is currently god because of the insane buffs in his abilities, my favorite of all is when redline reaches 100% the battery doesn't go down at all which also battery charges fast now like I casted redline at 62 secs then 100% at 50 secs which is really amazing

Kinetic plating is honestly my most used ability because it allows Gauss to just say "fuck that" to virtually ALL staggers and knockdowns.

pro tip with gauss, you can easily refill your battery past 80 with his 4 and using the cold 3, and then keep the 2 up when the battery is maxed till the ability runs out. recharge to 80 with the 1 and repeat

- Mach Rush should make you faster the more you cannel it, making it actually useful on the plains/Orb Vallis
- Kinetic Plating should not have an innate drain for just being active
- Redline should boost Sprint Speed (why tf isnt this a thing already?) and getting to 100% should be more reliable (aka making it so you can actually use it when you want to)

Oh Gauss my Gauss, the one frame that can disable crouds of level 100+ grineer with ease on a speed/duration build (not to mention that kinetic plating negates bramma knockback and redline makes it a *shoot-as-fast-as-you-can-click* stat boosting damage machine. You don't even need to aim, just randomly click and boom you're the quarter of the team that did 70% of the damage.

I've got an invincible guass build that uses no battery. Cast kinetic plating once and no death. Even at only 100% power strength. Everyone trys to max redline first without thinking outside the box around what kinetic plating brings to the table.

I agree Gauss kit is fine, I quite like it a lot actually but keeping red line up and gaining full benefits is really tough and frustrating to deal with at times and I agree with the change suggested have full benefits between 80-90%, just in case 80% to easy. I understand DE not wanting to make it to easy but I think they went to tough on red line.

Kinetic plating doesn't convert damage taken, but damage the enemy does.
This means when combined with quick thinking and gladiator finesse, even at 0% battery, you can't die. And honestly, your gauss. Your not going to be hit that much anyway, your either outrunning bullets or everyone is ragdolled lr frozen.
