  • Alan Napier, famous as Alfred the butler on the iconic sixties television series, "Batman", finished writing his autobiography in 1973. More than forty years later, it is finally being published. Napier documents his English upbringing as a "poor relation" of the Chanberlain political dynasty (Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain was a cousin) as well as the years on the London stage and the Hollywood screen that preceded his "breakthrough" on Batman. Additional material, including the period between 1973 and his death in 1988, is provided by James Bigwood, who first met the actor in 1975, when profiling him for "Films in Review". The book can be purchased from Amazon and Barnes & Noble, as well as directly from the the publisher's website: mcfarlandbooks.com.
