I'll give you credit: followed step by step and this worked perfect. Before this the game would start up but then loop after choosing what game you wanted to play. I'm not keen on downloading programs I could find little about, But damn it man, WoWS, WoT, War Thunder, Conan Exiles, Crossout, EVE.... all of them I've played until ultimate boredom. Generals and Zero Hour never did that to me. Thank you for the very detailed vid and thank you for giving me my game back! LET'S GO DOCTOR THRAX!!!!!
Thank you for making GenPatcher. Command and Conquer Generals is my favorite game, and I have not been able to play it since 2013. I tried everything I could find online to get it to run on Windows 8.1 and 10, but nothing worked, but GenPatcher does work, and now I can enjoy it again!
I am estatic that I can play my C&C Gernerals now! I installed the CD and the game would not launch after installing. I followed your instructions and it now runs. I will have to play around with the Gen Tool but I am most pleased that I can relive some of my favorite moments with this game. Thank you!

Seems that GenPatcher doesn't want to apply the fixes for me, I get an error about failing to install 'disable origin ingame'' And suggests that I disable my virus scanner, which I have already done.
I would like to write something about the lag problem in Zero Hour that has caused many people to stop playing. Zero hour version 1.0 doesn't have any lag. In the Twilight flame map, you can play against 7 hard ai without any lag. (Like the base game Generals v1.08) but versions 1.01, 1.02, 1.03 and 1.04 of Zero Hour have this bug. The main reason for this bug is the "game.dat" file in the game directory. By comparing the "game.dat version 1.0" file with the "game.dat version 1.04" files, this error causing memory leak can be detected. As far as I know, the programming language of .dat files is Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0. Also Hex editor or something can be use. In short, you can play version 1.0 until someone fixes this bug in version 1.04.
At time of comment Genpatcher does not work with the new steam release of Zero Hour as it cannot detect the installed files. Will edit if updated. EDIT: It’s updated! Thank you! 🎉
Thanks for making this, the sky is not missing anymore but theres still a couple of things that need fixing: fire doesnt burn trees like it did on the disk version and battlemaster tank treads are not moving, its annoying me alot for some reason especially the tank treads... pls fix Also i wanted to ask if you might want to expand on the features and fixes you added? Add the stuff they planned for ZH but cut due to time constraints? Im sure you know most of that cut stuff already but for example every general was supposed to have their own unique command center, all of them are there in the game files except tank general command center. General juhziz challenge, General fai challenge. Optional ofcourse. And being able to select a different commander for campaign as a feature. Please make the game complete, it is your destiny Anakin!

@@zz6449 if the game works, then u dont need it. if the game doesn't work, then u might wanna give it a shot. a list of all the fixes are on the website. genpatcher scans your system & game installation and only applies what is needed. it wouldnt make sense to only do some of the fixes.
yeah i've been working on a solution. i've created a separate program that u can run before starting the game. it will then detect when the game is running and re-enable edge scrolling. i'm planning to release it with the next version of GenPatcher in a couple of weeks. if you're interested in trying it out right now, message me on Discord, and i'll send it to u :)
i have an issue , my mouse is locked in i cant move anywhere it's like the only way i can move the mouse arround is by holding right click how to fix it?
@@aleksander2878 I figured it out, u can't fix it u have to rely on the your mouse scroll or smth like that, I know at first it will be hard but when u get used to it trust me it's better then the regular one
The game unfortunately still crashes on alt-tab or just sometimes when in game. It seems to be fine in windowed mode, but then edge-scrolling doesn't work. Any way to fix this? More tempting to run the game in a virtual machine rather than learn to not play with edge-scrolling.
@@LegionnaireGenerals I found the solution by chance, you can play in full screen (NOT windowed mode) without any crashing even with alt+tab it doesn't crash anymore. resolution is: dercrease your resolotion in game a little bit. for example my resolution on my laptop is 1366*768. SO in game i decreased the resolution a little and made it 1360 INSTEAD OF 1366. I made it 1360*768 and the game worked very nice no crash at all. and of course I can edge scroll now normally. I'm sorry for my English, but I hope this will work with you also and thanks a lot for all your amazing efforts.
Would love to have a recommended settings video as if I play 6 or more players the game crashes after having too many units, even if gfx settings are low. Running win11, 5800x3d, 3080ti, 32g ram, 1440p res screen.

soooo i had the 1st deckhead on an old drive that ive plugged into a new computer that doesnt have a dvd drive and it seems to just work. so i copied the folder across to my kids computer and on there computer it asks for the CD but it doesnt on mine? is this a windows registery thing? because i copied windows across to the new computer from the old 1 too or will this patcher thing fix the problem?

hello, i hope somebody could help me. So the problem i have is my generals is choppy or laggy if running in fullscreen but if it is in windowed mode it is running fine and smooth. Ive tried so many tutorials and fixes but somehow it doesnt work. My OS is windows 11. Additionally i also tried it running on an older laptop and it tends to run smoothly.
I tried installing GenPatcher on Windows 11 but it always freezes at that exact point: 2:04 Command prompt only displays my Documents folder of C&C Generals Data, but no error message or anything. Tried both Online and Offline installer and both freeze at that point. And i turned off Real Time Virus scan too.
Is there a way to change the game's shortcuts so I can control the camera with the arrow keys? So far this only works while holding down the CTRL key, which is buggy.

@@cheetos585 Well it seems to be a new interface setup. I can scroll with my keyboard cursor on the map. Not what I've been used to for 20 years but I can play. Haven't found how to change it. ALso haven't got the online playing working yet.
@@johannesdesloper8434 I was able to scroll the map like normal if I didn't start the game in "Windowed" mode. If you run GenPatcher again and click on "Additional Content" and then click "GenTool" there is a slider button on the right to turn off windowed mode. I have both options set to "OFF". That's what fixed it for me.

Seems I can't find anything in regard to what I'm having an issue with so I'll put it here and see if it gets read. I have ultimate edition already, I'm on windows 11, I CANNOT install the game period. It won't let me. Do you have any idea how to fix this? Seems no one has an answer for me. I've tried Origin client AND EA's beta client and no go.

no GenPatcher won't fix it. u have to install the game with an official installer first. copying across the files won't be enough

@@cheetos585 Well it seems to be a new interface setup. I can scroll with my keyboard cursor on the map. Not what I've been used to for 20 years but I can play. Haven't found how to change it. ALso haven't got the online playing working yet.
@@johannesdesloper8434 I was able to scroll the map like normal if I didn't start the game in "Windowed" mode. If you run GenPatcher again and click on "Additional Content" and then click "GenTool" there is a slider button on the right to turn off windowed mode. I have both options set to "OFF". That's what fixed it for me.

hmm already had those 2 turned off.
when i click fix in the dekstop appears 2 different command and conquer and both have bug when i click the units to move they stay there and they dont move how to fix it?...And when i open it from EA the game doing missmatch. HELP

PLEASE HELP ME. I planned to install MOD on my CC using GenLauncher on GenPatcher but it is not working. How can I fix this? Thank you.
Didnt turn off my antivirus and now error shows and cannot install even disabled and delted the files inside genpatcher. :(
Seems I can't find anything in regard to what I'm having an issue with so I'll put it here and see if it gets read. I have ultimate edition already, I'm on windows 11, I CANNOT install the game period. It won't let me. Do you have any idea how to fix this? Seems no one has an answer for me. I've tried Origin client AND EA's beta client and no go.
