Never played but I think every animal would be very neat to design for. How about the 5 worst animals to build for in Planet Zoo? I'll try to make a good exhibit for it.
I know other people might disagree however I love building for megafauna like elephants and hippos and finding certain spaces that work as lookout points while giving the animals enough space to roam.
Mine are cassowaries, african penguins, fruit bats, and sea lions in general. But one habitat that Im actually proud of is a completely indoor pygmy hippo habitat
Gonna go with primates as my favourite to build for, it can be great fun to experiment with different styles of climbing frames whether artificial or natural. If I had to choose one primate to pick, I would choose gorillas to build for funnily enough. To allow gorillas to climb in a naturalistic setting while maintaining an open spacious habitat is one of my favourite challenges
I mostly enjoy building for Crocodilians, and, Wolves, Red Foxes. Maned Wolves, Capybaras, and Kangaroos are up there too. I LOVE doing higher foliage type habitats, so my top 3 tend to work very well with the swampy and forest styles
Small mammals and canids/hyaenids, all the way! They don't require a lot of space (relatively) and you can get pretty creative with their layouts. It's all about the details, baby! Big cats and primates are just behind. Hoofstock aren't my bag in general BUT I think it's more the environment. Because I love building for the okapi, bongo, and nile lechwe. But by virtue of their IRL environments... It's just more fun to detail/build out a swampy jungle area rather than a big ol' savannah, y'know?
Got the game on console realese soo im trying to get the hang of the building mechanics. And soo far i fu..ing love this game. Totally hooked. But soo far the spectral caiman is my favorit build soo far or maybe the capybara. Peace from Sweden

I absolutely love my dwarf caimans, but I’ve also found I like building for lemurs and cats

as an Aussie i usually build for the kangaroo's and wombats lol
I always do basic, ugly enclosures because I don't have the patience to make grandiose creations. My lack of creativity doesn't help much, either lol
For me it's definitely crocodillians
My favorite builds are just any indoor areas. It’s how you can really customize with lots of detail
