  • The Political Theory of Bruce Bueno de Mesquita and Alastair Smith from their Book 'Dictator's Handbook' Can Be Applied to Healthcare.
Their Central Thesis is That No One Rules Alone... Whether in the Government, in a Hospital or at an Insurance Company.
Accordingly, the 4 Keys to Power Are:
    1) Get Key Supporters on Your Side
    2) Control the Money to Buy Loyalty from Your Coalition
    3) Minimize the Number of Key Supporters
    4) Maximize the Number of People You Can Draw From to Replace Key Supporters if They Become Uncooperative
As a Result, Healthcare Does Not Serve Patients Because Patients Do Not Control Any of the Money in Healthcare--It's All in the Hands of the Government and Employers.
Perhaps Healthcare Will ONLY Service Patients When Patients Gain Control of the Money.

Hi Dr. Bricker, would you be able to do a video on who takes home the money in healthcare? Insurance/doctors/hospital administration? That would be great!
I would also really appreciate a video on healthcare utilization in the US compared to socialized countries and other fee for service countries.
    Thank you!

I don’t think it was ever a mistake that those who document your most private and sensitive information also have so much control over the opinion of their patient’s life. Control…. via the niche political environment of doctor office. Where is the patient supposed to be heard?

I thought wealthy patients have money? Or union members with Cadillac insurances. Are they not getting great care than the average?

The wealthy do have power in healthcare. Unions are also subject to capture. Thank you for your comment.
